The opening message--"Please recognize that this music is funky, it's unlike any other gospel music you've heard, prepare yourself"--has sealed the fate of The Wordd either to deliver the Holy Grail of what most artists strive for, or get tossed into the sea of eager but quickly forgotten performers. But, to their advantage, How U Gonna Live is a debut release, which leaves the fresh talent of brother duo Chris and Stan Jones free to color outside of the lines. Add the composing and producing genius of Grammy Award-winning Tony Rich to the mix, and the goods are sure to be presented with professional flare. One thing is for certain: these guys are sincere. Whereas some artists treat their message as mere subject matter, the Jones brothers have a depth of honesty that runs deeper than performed enthusiasm. Their refreshingly raw and powerful vocal styling provide the medium for these spirit-message-filled tracks. And yes, the music founding it all has an eclectically funky fascination. The R&B, hip-hop, and gospel flavors are combined in a way that has yet to be defined. Moving between the shadowy urban jam "It's All Good," the '70s sunshine funk of "Thank You," and the peaceful meandering of "Better Day," you'll likely find yourself excited to find out what happens next. This project will not soon be forgotten. --Israel Button

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!.......2003-05-05

A friend shared this CD with me and, from the moment I heard it I has been a blessing. Not only are the beats funky and smooth but the message is profound and right on target. These brothers are going to BLOW UP. To God be the glory!

5 out of 5 stars Undiscovered Precious Metals.......2003-02-28

I'm convinced that the only reason everyone hasn't heard about this CD and The Wordd is because it probably didn't get the publicity that it deserved. I only just happened upon a copy of the CD but I now know it wasn't by accident. If this CD ever gets the notoriety it should have, it will revolutionize Gospel music. I am waiting with great expectation for their next release!

5 out of 5 stars Great cd!!!!!!!!!!!!11.......2000-10-14

Now this is my kinda gospel music (music for the spirit, body, and soul). Tony Rich really out did himself in producing this project. I love the funky cords, the acoustics, and the overall spirit of the music.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of the years.......2000-10-07

I first bought the album because I'm a big Tony Rich fan. He writes and produces the album. The Wordd is two brothers Chris and Stan Jones. This gospel album is laced with funky beats from the first track "It's All Good" to "Oh Lord (We Give You Praise)". It also has its smooth tracks like "Better Day" and "If I Never". I recommend this album to everyone. Chris and Stan are going to be around a long time and the songs prove that Tony Rich is one of best producers, writers, performers, around today.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing Debut!!!.......2000-10-06

I didn't get into this album to much it was like real wack to me after listening to the first couple of songs.
