This is my favorite John Austin album - from start to finish it is a joy to listen to. The first track "If I Was a Latin King" gets you off to a good start with a wonderful melody, lush instrumentals, and excellent harmonies. It is easily my favorite song on the album. From there we launch into the funky "In My Mama's Dreamz", which is my second favorite. From those two songs alone you can tell that John is a great songwriter and loves diversity of sound. You can't go wrong with this one, folks! BUY IT NOW!

There is no recording like IF I WAS A LATIN KING. It has the creativity of a Flaming Lips record, and the intelligence of a Randy Newman record. But John Austin really has his own style. Its an acoustic roots pop song cycle about violence and beauty, and I wish the world could hear this songwriter...so much depth and charm!
