the greatest melodic progressive metal album ever!.......2002-01-28

this is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard. the band starts off with an excellent instrumental song with keyboards. Then "snap" starts with hard guitars and exciting drumming that'll make you wanna head bang. The vocalist sort sounds like Matthew Barlow from Iced Earth (thats a good thing). Then "i lost my sense of passion" is long song but a good one. The rest of the songs are all great just i dont have enough time to review them all. Behind the Curtain does an excellent job with this album and shows no stops to their musicianship.

Classic Mayall and Friends.......2001-05-25

This is a great album. I have 24 Mayall albums of which the best is 'Life in the Jungle'. This album contains many of the tracks on 'Life' and shows the abilities of Mayall, Montoya and Trout but lacks the same recording clarity. However, it is a recording you must have if you are any kind of Mayall, Montoya or Trout fan.

Blistering Blues Rock Renditions Of John Mayall Classics.......1999-05-01

This is an outstanding John Mayall album recorded in the mid 80's featuring one of his strongest dual guitar line ups: Walter Trout & Coco Montoya. This was his lineup for 6 years that played at small clubs all over (which I was lucky to see numerous times) and reestablished interest in the blues. Many of the numbers are from his two best albums: Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton and The Turning Point. Two of the better guitar solos are Walter on "Rolling With The Blues" and Coco playing the classic slow piece "Have You Heard", the 1st Mayall tune I every heard. The finale, "Steppin' Out", features them both trading blistering licks and is a great finish to an excellent album. This is possibly the rockin'ist lineup he ever had and is must for serious John Mayall and blues fans!

I ave been a John Mayall fan since the late 60's in Germania and follwoed his work ever since. This album is great - I love it. He is the still the Blues Man that I knew back then. He has stuck to his values - unlike some others - and he is still the greatest white blues musician in my book.

This album is PHAT!.......1998-07-10

I purchased the Sleestack'z album at my local record store because it was creating a buzz in my neighborhood (East New York, Jamiaca Ave.). I was skeptical, being that it basically was an independent release. But I was BLOWN away. The lyrics are TIGHT. The beats are PHAT. There are four very diverse members in the group, each with his own diverse style. There's Nailz, a metaphoric MC with much flow. Then there's Oxx, a Puerto Rican MC who reveals the facts behind what people most percieve as reality. There's Nic the Nobody, an MC whose lyrical flow is on par with the best of the free flowin' greats (Nas, Big Pun, etc.). But what sets him apart from the rest, is the variety of point of views he takes in his rhymes. Finally, there's Dwella, the MC who can take you on a journey around the world (& back) in a single verse. Individually, each one of these MC's can hold their own, but together, they create an extaordinary blend of SLEESTACK'z.

Product Description

Psychobud was a seminal 80 s band that emerged out of the first generation Orange County punk rock scene. Their multi-genre sound was conceived by recording improvised jam sessions or "creeps" at a garage studio in the Little Saigon area of OC. After recording hundreds of hours of raw music from 1979 through the early eighties, a band emerged called Psychedelic Butterfly...or Psychobud for short. The band s carefree and eclectic approach seemed to appeal to audiences immediately and they started drawing crowds and getting attention up and down the West Coast. Through the early 80 s they regularly performed live and continued to evolve their sound before releasing a record in 1984 on Ear Movie/Enigma. This 15 song CD was recorded in a variety of studios sometime between 1982 and 1985 and represents the sound, the band, and the music of Psychobud.

Take Me Back Dear Lord!!.......2001-06-16

Every song reminded me of the days of old. When we had the wooden floors in the church and you could tap your feet and feel the rhythm of the spirit moving throughout the building. Especially "Behind the Curtain". It has been a while since I heard someone singing Gospel Music that will leave you wondering if you just heard a Gospel Opera. That is how much this entire CD means to me and I know that it will Minister to the hearts of all people. Thank you God for the prayers that went up to Heaven for those songs.

Good Taste in Performance.......2000-04-29

Nancy Zeltsman's performance of the works on Woodcuts is exemplary. She demonstrates stunning musical playing and many of the pieces on the disc deserve such attention: Opening Day, Merlin, Woodcuts, Gypsy (arguably better than S. Vega's original) among others are fine pieces of music.

There are some less successful tracks though - the Tango Suite (over 3 tracks) is average and VERY long. There is a very broad range of material and as such won't please all tastes.

But this is still a beautiful album, cetainly worth owning if only for the wonderful sound that Nancy Z. produces.

The Queen of Marimba Reigns Supreme.......2000-02-08

NAncy Zeltsman deserves the title of Queen of Marimba. She pulls emotion from the instrument like water flowing through a stream. Her technique is amazing and her sound is sweet and gentle, but harsh when needed. This album is by far one of the best marimba albums ever recorded. Her arrangement of Susan Vega's Gypsy is worth the price of the CD alone. NO ONE SHOULD BE WITHOUT THIS RECORDING.
