2 out of 5 stars Not the Best.......2007-03-10

As someone mentioned earlier I must be apart of the LS bandwagon as he called it. I see it more apart of the good music bandwagon. When I was introduced to LS I heard the rerelease of Reborn and loved it. From there I got Inhabit and did not like it much. Musically the CD is good, but I don't like the vocals really at all. DJ does not have the power or intensity that makes a good screamer. After I heard this CD I got Hammering Process and Conceived in Fire and love them both. I will not buy another CD with DJ on it because it's just not as good as recent LS. Being original does not make you good!!!

5 out of 5 stars My first death metal album.......2006-01-29

This cd led me to find and love the genre of death metal. You see I was looking for EastWest's Hope In Anguish cd at my local Lifeway store but they didn't have it. I was about to leave until I saw this album and The Hammering Process cd at the lower left hand corner of the shelf. This one was 9.99 and the other 16.99, I wanted to get them both but could only buy one, so I got T.H.P. disk. I thought that since that was more expensive it was probably better than the other(how ignorant was I!). Later I did some research on Inhabit, and listen to some sound clips and was blown away! Doing further research, I found out this was death metal and looked up a bunch of stuff about it(mostly on here at Amazon so thank you Tom Servo and others who took thier time to write about this genre through guides, album reviews, etc.)and come to love both the genre and this cd. Also, since I headed into heavy metal without knowing much about it besides bands like Korn, Metallica, Tool, Marilyn Manson, etc., I had no problems with the vocals or the heaviness or the genre itself(death metal).
Now that have finished my manifesto, lets look at the album itself. I've heard a lot of complaints about DJ's vocals but I realy don't care because I like his vocals on the first three cd's also espelialy Nonexistenet. I know this isn't the most heavy or technical death metal but it does a good job on both. So if you are a newbie into Christian metal, death metal, or just tired of what is put out by Mtv, get this album and don't worry about the naysayers.

4 out of 5 stars not bad, not bad.......2005-02-27

LS back when it was death metal........it dont like it as much as their 3 most recent cds, but its still pretty good stuff
the best tracks are breathing murder, for its insane drum speed and departure for it extremely good instrumental if u like death metal or LS then buy this album

5 out of 5 stars Great LS cd and a nice change from their others........2004-06-28

I had heard from some people that this cd wasn't all that great becuase of the vocal style and that seems to be the big divide that makes people either love it or hate it. When I got it I expected the vocals to be the usual death metal style(ex.Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, etc...) but was surprised to hear that they were different. To me the vocals sound great as do the grinding guitars, bass, and pounding drums. I enjoy this style of LS more than their later sound and think that they did a great job with trying death metal. Anyways this is a must buy for LS fans and for others who dig some great metal.

5 out of 5 stars excellent death metal.......2004-03-09

My favorite LS album, which is saying a lot, since everything I've heard by them has been excellent. Part of the reason I like this one so much is that it's death metal, while their more recent stuff is a little more metal-core. It reminds me a little of the German band Atrocity-- technical death metal with a very dark atmosphere. There's something indefinable about the way the music is played that makes it stand out from the hordes. When I listen to it, I can't really pick out what it is that makes the music so good-- some of the arrangements are well-done, with some complexity and originality, but it goes beyond that. I guess it's talent--this album just oozes talent.

3 out of 5 stars Not the best, but it was the first.......2006-10-25

I became a HUGE fan of GrooveLilly when I saw them in the summer of 2006 performing in a musical version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. I have since picked up several of this interesting and innovative band's CDs. This one was a disappointment. It completely lacked the edge of Ms. Vagoda's later albums. This particular CD feels like a slightly pop-inspired easy listening/jazz endeavor. Valarie Vagoda's artful Violin-playing is under-utilized and the group lacks the interesting, musical edge that is later brought by keyboardist Brendan Milburn and drummer Gene Levin.

That is not to say that the album is entirely bad. The music is pretty, Ms. Vagoda's voice is as beautiful as ever, and the album has a late-80s feel that I found a bit nostalgic.

Ultimately, unless you are already a GooveLilly completist, avoid this album and instead pick up the fantastic "Little Light" or (my favorite) "Striking 12".

      5 out of 5 stars IKE ROCKS.......2005-10-11

This is an awesome cd by a great band out of Philly. Great up beat power pop songs along with beautiful slower songs. Harmonies are great and it just puts a smile on your face. Highly recommended!! And if you can see these guys (and gal) live do it they have so much energy on stage.

      5 out of 5 stars Great Find!.......2005-10-07

I ordered this CD on a whim. I heard two of the songs during a scene on All My Children and just had to know who sang them. I found out thru another source and just had to get the CD. It is one of my favorites. Hope to hear more of this band. They have a great sound.

5 out of 5 stars Best rock album I have heard in years..........2004-10-28

We have followed the band for 3 years and attended over 60 shows. The cd and the band are great. One cannot go wrong buying this cd...

5 out of 5 stars DO NOT PASS GO !.......2004-09-24

There are commercial bands that live and die by the promotion and financial guidance of their labels that are talently marginal at best. We can all rattle off a dozen or so examples without thinking too hard. Then there are incredibly talented individuals that play by their own rules and continually put out well produced, well written and wonderfully performed releases just like "Parallel Universe" by IKE. John Faye who originally caught my ear when with the Caufileds and The John Faye Power Trip continues to labor away at his craft alongside of Cliff Hillis who is also no stranger to individual success. I don't offer praise very often but this group's time for recognition and commercial succees is far overdue. Do not pass go - do not collect $200 - go directly to checkout and BUY THIS CD!

      5 out of 5 stars Amazing album.......2003-03-22

I have seen IKE play all these songs live for about a year now. I was so amazed whith the songs when they finaly got put on an album. John's voice is amazing. I love the way that Cliff's and John's voices just blend together. I can say enough about this album. So far It has not left my cd player in my car. It's all that I listen to.

but this is a solid CD, well worth regular play. I'd like to vote 4.5, but on a 5-star scale, 5 is reserved for all-time classics.

Greg is a sterling guitarist and tasty vocalist who has apparently backed up lots of folks for many years, but, fed up with LA, came home to Arkansas to make a Southern classic. And did it!

I'll not review every cut, though most are well packaged and quite solid, but two are worthy of the highest accolades. Push Me Down is an original tune, perfectly constructed from a simple riff that builds and swirls and knocks you down, and Workin' On A Building, an old-time Gospel tune gets a performance here that will have you cranking the speakers up all the way.

So, an eclectic mix of Souther rock, country, Gospel, electic blues and straight-out boogie makes a wonderful CD, something you can happily purchase and support independent, alternative, hard-working musicians. Go get it!

          Album Description

Lyrical, intelligent piano portraits that will take you on a journey through leaf-scattered paths in the woods, on starlit boat rides chasing the moon, to places where your heart will yearn to inhabit.

Sit back, breathe in and enjoy. Before you know it, you'll find yourself humming along to the melodic overtones of Captured Glimmers. Baptismal Waters will wash over you in a shower of jeweled tones. The pensive nuances of Midnight Flight guide you on the roller coaster of contemplation as you find yourself aching for the next note. Although it feels dark at times, there is a vibrant offering of brighter notes as you ascend higher and higher to a glittering plateau of happiness and inner peace. The romanticism of Princess will envelop you with its sweeping strings that stir your emotions to a heartbreaking crescendo, while the gentle lullaby of Sweet Breath will bring you to the calmest of calms with an ending that leaves the resolution to your imagination, begging for another listen.

Drawing from an endless wealth of musical spirit, Scott creates soundscapes for daily life. In light of all of the turmoil in the world, people are looking for a way to escape, if only for a little while. Moonlight Dances offers this and a new perspective, communicating with the mind and spirit in a soothing way.

"I believe in the music captured on this CD. It transcends the medium, where the instrument is no longer just a piano, and the music is more than simply notes placed in time. The songs possess dimension, and, because of this, the tracks are intriguing even after you've heard them repeatedly.

Throughout my life I have been longing to create something of substance that would captivate an audience and enrich their lives through fantasy. Though I wasn't sure of the medium, I was certain of my intent. At seventeen, I developed a natural relationship with the piano and soon came to recognize that it would be the best means toward my goal. Now, fifteen years later, I present Moonlight Dances." - Scott Pehnke
