Now I Remember Why I Love Albums.......2005-09-29

Once and a while you stumble across a record that reminds you of why you love music in the frist place.

My music-love-life ebbs and flows. At times, it all seems so silly, you know, like if you listen to the wrong radio station for more than a half-hour, you start to wonder why you bother at all. During those times, I try to look back on my past. I try to remember what it was that could make me just sit and listen to the same record over and over.

Sometimes, it seems like those records are destined to be just a thing of the past. Is there any heart in modern popular music at all? Or is it all fashion?

But then I heard Watertown by this little band from San Francisco and all hope returned to me.

What a great collection of earnest beautiful songs! This is an album. Sure, it's full of great individual songs, but the CD flows like a record, like it's all one thing.

It's starts off smoothly with the enchanting "Synaptic Gap". It's hypnotising and it's setting you up for the trip that's in store for you. From the popfest "Instaglo" through the wrenching "Birthday" passed the nolstalgic high-point "Watertown" and on and on. These songs are perfect for a car-ride or for just lying back and listening through a big set of orange headphones. The music wraps around you like a blanket.

This album feels like home to me.

Lovers of well-written honest catchy indie-poppy-rocky quality music should check this out. Recommended for fans of Trembling Blue Stars, The Breeders, Fountains of Wayne, Liz Phair, School for the Dead, The Lucksmiths, Aimee Mann, Belle and Sebastian, The Feelies, and even The Cars.

I guess I deserved this.......2005-08-12

I saw some Puppet Master clone a while ago. The evil guy kept a femail punk band locked in a cage and had them play whenever he wanted to listen to music. Some of the songs were catchy, so I thought I'd pick up the CD. Big mistake. All the songs basically take one sentence and repeat it over and over and over and over and over and over...it this is annoying you, image what the CD was like. I tossed it.

BLOOD DOLLS ROCK THIS HOUSE!!!!.......2005-06-07

The lyrics of the hit song Kill Pussy Kill from arguably the best doll film ever (not including Chucky) is an awesome track! The artist is able to express his repressed childhood memories through the words of Kill Pussy Kill. All I know is when I woke up from this hypnotic trance, it put me in, I was in the dessert next to a parrot. But the thrist of the desert was worth the exctasy of this hypnotic masterpiece. I think I will listen to it again so maybe I will see you at the North Pole this time.

Track three, "Kill Pussy Kill" was heard in the Puppet Master movie, the 10 second clip thereof from the gals that were in the cage. I just had to have the song and found it in Amazon.com.

BestCDHead was the supplier/shipper, and the package arrived via snail mail two days later. Very impressed/pleased with the shipper.

Best track on the album.......1999-09-24

I think this cd is great. The best track on the album, I think, is No.6 'Sound Bites'. The relentless driving force of the song is thrilling. And the laconic exhortation, "Why Don't You Shut The Fuck Up?" is mesmerising. A powerful, sexy and marvellous track. Enjoy.

I really liked Fonda's debut album. Listeners will no doubt compare them to Echobelly because of lead singer Emily Cook's vocal similarites to Sonya Madan, but I think there is also a certain quality to the slower songs like 'Mr. and Mrs.' that separates them from the rest. Some of it is a bit average power-pop, but for the most part Fonda deliver. I think they are listed on MP3.com if you'd like to hear them, I highly recommend it.

This is the EP to the 2003 release 'The Routine'. It has 4 songs which include a rare alternate version of "Invisible", an unrealeased song (Clone) and a demo version of 'Tweaked'. If you find yourself liking "The Routine" then pick this up as it's a few more hard rockin' Hotwire songs.
