"Chicago's plot was cynical and satirical in 1975, but today feels like a documentary." So says Walter Bobbie, the director responsible for this revival of the Kander, Ebb, and Fosse "musical vaudeville," which began as a minimalist concert staging for New York City Center's Encore! series before moving on to Broadway, critical acclaim, and Tony Awards. Actually, it'd be hard to go wrong with any production, no matter how it's staged, because the Roaring '20s jazz-based music here is simply great. Some people actually prefer the original's Gwen Verdon and Chita Rivera as Roxie and Velma to Ann Reinking and Bebe Neuwirth, but no matter. Joel Grey is perfect as Amos Hart, James Naughton matches Jerry Orbach's original Billy Flynn, and again, the music here is wonderful. A near-flawless classic. --Bill Holdship

Fun, Fun, Fun.......2007-07-07
Makes the enjoyment of the show continue after you leave the theater. Definitely see the show before you by the soundtrack.
CHICAGO ROCKS BROADWAY.......2007-05-17
Chicago - The Musical (1996 Broadway Revival Cast)
One of the top 10 best Broadway cast albums ever! A revival which surpasses the original. A must own for anyone who likes Broadway shows. Bebe Neuworth, Ann Reinking & James Naughton are stellar. Plenty of razzle dazzle and fun.
A near-perfect recording.......2006-02-25
Chicago is a classic, and that classic status remains in the revival recording. Bebe Neurwith is truly a delight as Velma Kelly, and shines in the star number of "All That Jazz", but it's the men who steal the show. James Naughten and Joel Grey are perfect as Billy Flynn and Amos Hart. Every single one their numbers is absolutely perfect are true classics. There are, however, two downsides. First is that the film soundtrack exceeds vocally with Catherine Zeta-Jones as a belting Velma. Second, and ultimately, Anne Reinking's rendition of "Roxie" is downright awful. I love her versions of "Funney Honey" and "Me and My Baby", but "Roxie" is disgusting. In all, however, a wonderful, fun, and classic recording.
Don't be so harsh on Ann.......2006-01-06
I understand that many of you who have bought this CD will be Broadway lovers (and I am one myself)and you will be used to the lead roles having amazing powerful voices. But just as important as good singing is good acting. I think that Ann interpreted Roxie as a wannabe who had the enthusiasm but lacked the talent, which makes her raspy tones and sing-speak completely plausible. It also supports the theme that you can use other things than talent to get yourself to the top This may not be the way you like Roxie played, but you shouldn't shun Ann's interpretation. It's a good thing if there is more than one way of having a character played, I think so anyway.
Personally I love the Miramax film, but I enjoy comparing these 2 and seeing the differences.
Good, But Not Great. .......2005-08-27
The revival edition of CHICAGO could be a whole lot better (like the original or the movie soundtrack.) But it is good none the less.
Bebe Nuewirth is fun to listen to on the recording, but Ann Reinking is HORRIBLE! She can't sing and she can't act as well as Ms. Nuewirth.
I recomend this recording to all Chicago and Kander and Ebb fans.

Pafuera Telaranas, the debut disc from Spanish singer Bebe, spins a hypnotic web of alternately moody and joyous pop treats. The album doesn't immediately catch fire after initial listens, but Bebe's playful delivery and thoughtful lyrics ultimaltey shine through. They make Pafuera Telaranas an enjoyable alternative to so many of Latin pop's kewpie-doll cuties. The album flirts with ska rhythms ("Ska de la Tierra"), hushed balladry (the mournful "Cuidandote") and experimental a capella interludes ("Razones"). Bebe's chirpy vocals anchor each song, a mix of Juleta Venegas' weary sensuality and Gwen Stefani's streetwise sweetness. Bebe even seems to channel Ashlee Simpson's raspy rock flavor during "Con Mis Manos"--although the acclaimed singer would likely frown on the comparison. "Malo," a harrowing, flamenco-flavored tale of domestic abuse, is the album's emotional centerpoint. It builds to an impressive climax. Equally enjoyable, but alternately joyous, is "Siete Horas," a wistful countdown to a lovers' meeting stuffed with DJ scratches and rapid-fire vocal tricks. Bebe proves adept at adapting herself to diverse themes and styles, and it makes Pafuera Telaranas an inspired pop treat. --Joey Guerra

Style.......2007-05-08
bebe definetly has a unique sound. I only understand a little bit of what she is saying but I still like to listen to it. The spanish is a little different because she is from Spain
preciosa voz.......2007-03-09
bebe has a wonderful childish voice that I find very attractive.
the lyrics need some revising, for some are simply silly, and not the silly that can be fun, but the silly that is plain dumb.
nevertheless, it is still worth buying the cd
Bello! Me encantó!.......2007-02-23
Este Cd es espectacular. Supe de Bebe por una canción ("Me quedará") que está en un CD de la cadena Putumayo. No pude resistir la tentación de comprarlo pensando que si todo el CD era como esa canción, sería un éxito y así fue. Excelente!
This Album is Simply Brilliant!! Muy .......2007-01-28
I've had this album for only a few days, have listened to it end to end maybe three times.. and all I can say, is that it's completely freakin' brilliant. Gypsy alternative folk rock, gently patinated with punk & flamenco. Singer-songwriter dance-pop. Simply sublime.
Dug up some bio info that'll I share (save you the google): Bebe- aka Nieves Rebolledo Vila - was born in Valencia Spain in 1978. Her parents are members of the Extremaduran folk group Surberina. So she grew up surrounded by music & musicians, and got into the music scene in Madrid as a teen. This is her first big album, though, and it's made her a star in the Latin music scene. She was nominated for five Latin Emmies for this, and the aforemention Malo was a huge international hit single.
She sounds a lot like Natalia LaFourcade (but with rather better pop hooks,) with Julieta Venegas' hipness.. Her lyrics and themes can be edgy and political. 'Malo,' her big hit (though not, by my lights, the best song on this album) is a bit of a bruiser.
And as for those titillating forbidden lyrics, they're all en Espanol folks, in keeping with the themes rather than gratuitous (at least to my sensiblities.) Put it this way: this isn't Too Live Kru or Muttly Crew or anything untarded & paleoanderthal like that. If you can handle, say, Alanis Morissette, this material won't annoy you.
[...]
But no mind.. this girl is class, she's tart & smart, a tad saucy bout the edges.
Summation: Lo Quiero Mucho. Dig it lots, and this is just the beginning. This is in the near vicinity of Simon & Garfunkel or James Taylor good. (In all seriousness, she's in that good: classic, catchy pop; interesting themes; musically thematically complex & varied, with good lyrics..) It will probably take at least a decade and a half of constant pummeling before I get sick of it. I look forward to the mauling.
Buy it. Pronto. Cinquo estrellas +++.

Too little Robin Harris.......2007-05-27
I discovered Robin Harris years ago and originally purchased this set on cassette. I replaced it on CD but it was "borrowed" by a friend and never returned. This one is staying with me! He was a brilliant comedian who told the straight truth. My favorite track is the one on the church in Compton! It's a shame he died so young and we'll never be graced with his humor again.
Great CD, fond memories........2007-05-13
Robin Harris was a great comedian who died just when his star was rising. Listening to this CD brings back fond memories. He is truly missed.

Robin Harris is the best!!.......2006-03-26
The audio version of the stand-up act I remember seeing years ago brought back memories of a New Years Eve we had watching this comedian, same show years ago. It arrived in the best condition and quickly, 3 days. I was surprised how speedy the delivery time was. Thanks again.
Robin Harris would have been one of the Kings of Comedy.......2006-03-17
I bought this on tape years ago and some how lost track of it the person I loaned it to swears they gave it back to me, and I have been searching for a copy for years. I found it on amazon and I was so happy. Robin Harris is over the top funny I listen to this in my car and I know people think that I am in sane because I am just falling over laughing. Robin is funny without being to vulgar and his comedy is features experiences that we all can relate to. Had he not died he would have been one of the funniest men in comedy and no doubt part of the Kings of Comedy.

10 star album!.......2007-02-12
I noticed one review gave this album less than 5 stars! Who in the hell could give this album less than 5 stars...it's a 10 star album baby! This is the best of the best of African American gospel music! Go CeCe you rock girl! Ya'll need to get up and groove to CeCe man I mean she is totally cool.
Gospel/Inspirational Music At Its Best.......2004-04-15
I feel bad for those out there who criticize this brother/sister duo. They are missing out on some good music! This cd is a must have for any BeBe/CeCe fan or for anyone who just needs to be uplifted and encouraged. The musical delivery is honest and refreshing...These two are definitely head and shoulders above their Gospel peers.
A Must-Have Spiritual Lift.......2004-04-06
I was never a particulary "spiritual" person before discovering Bebe and Cece Winans, but that all changed when I first heard their music about 8 years ago. This CD is a sensational "best of" collection with all of their greatest hits. Do not avoid buying this CD because you consider it "gospel" music - that is the unique thing about Bebe and Cece's music; it doubles as an anthem for one's relationship with god as well as their spouse/significant other. I have always said that if a married couple is considering a divorce, they should sit in a room together and listen to the track called "It's O.K." - it is a powerful and moving song that makes you realize that love can overcome any obstacles in a relationship. This is great CD - buy it with confidence and enjoy the way you feel listening to it.
Precious Memories.............2004-02-06
I grew up with the Winans! Bebe, Cece, The Winans Brothers, Vickie and the more recent Winans Phase II (by the way can anyone tell me where they went, I miss them man!!!!). But more to the point, I think that this album is heavy. It reaches young people in a way certain gospel artists can't. Also it gives u great memories!!! My fave tracks are:
Addictive Love
It's Ok
Heaven (my favourite!!!)
Celebrate New Life
Up Where We Belong (the classic tune)
I'll Take You There (another classic tune!!!)
For anyone who loves Bebe and Cece, the Winans in general or just good urban gospel get this!!! Bebe and Cece, when are u gonna do a reunion tour?! If it aint in your plans do make it to be one of them! Peace out!
This is an anointed album!.......2002-02-02
This is my favorite album, and BeBe and CeCe are my favorite artists. They are a dynamic and unique brother and sister duo who are following God's true calling in their lives to worship Him through their music. I have seen CeCe in concert and she is a very anointed woman of God. Anybody who says that BeBe and CeCe are not "spiritual" enough don't know what they're talking about- Jesus is a part of everything in our lives, even when we don't say His name out loud. All of the songs are Christ-centered, whether His name is mentioned or not. I would recommend this album to anybody.

ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE TO .......2007-03-22
For ALL fans of the musical 'CHICAGO", the 10th Anniversary CD/DVD package will plesed and amaze you. The handsome package includes the cast recoding with another CD featuring worldwife stars doing lead songs. The most trhilling part of this incredible tribute is the DVD with interviews with the orginal cast members, the director, cherographer, designer and the composer! Truly a collectors dream come true! And to make this tribute even more memorable, there has a collection of photos of the major leads over the past ten years. All fans of great musicial theater will cherish this collectors tribute to a great show.
Toe Tapping music - but disappointing DVD!.......2007-02-08
Having misplaced my original CD, I saw this on Amazon and decided to buy it. I was particularly excited about the prospect of seeing some of the songs recorded from stage productions.
CD1 is the same as the Cast Recording that I purchased before.
CD2 was a bit of "fun". It was interesting to hear the songs that were cut from the "new" show and it's not a great leap of the imagination to see why they probably were. It was also interesting to hear other peoples renditions of various songs from the show. Especially people like Liza Minelli, Melanie Griffith and even Linda Carter (yes, our very own "Wonder Woman").......
While I love the show and the music of "Chicago", I have to say I was disappointed by the DVD in this set. The feature about the re-opening of Chicago, was informative, but would have been better if intersperced with clips from the show(s) or even rehersals. The section that I was most excited about, the stage numbers of "All That Jazz", "All I Care About" and "When You're Good To Mama", were not the entire numbers recorded from a stage production......nor were they in English! There were clips from various productions (Japan, Germany...and a few others) all edited together to give the viewer a brief "taste" of the song in different languages.
I would have been much happier with the 3 songs, recorded from the stage production, sung in their entirity, in English.
That is the only bad thing I have to say about this set.
Definitely a buy for huge "Chicago" fans only. For the more casual admirer, go and buy the original cast recording album.....you'll be just as happy!
the new Razzle Dazzle.......2007-01-24
It is unfortunate that the previous reviewer (who disliked this boxed set so much he reviewed it twice) did not read the product description first to understand what he was buying. Yes, this celebration of the tenth anniversary of the revival of CHICAGO does include the original CD; those who own that disk and have only a casual interest in the show may not want to purchase this. But for less than twice the price of the single CD, this set offers a taste of the many stars who have done turns in this production since it opened (including the original 1975 production), both on Broadway and around the world, plus a DVD of interviews with those involved in the production, and a booklet full of other goodies. Perhaps no one NEEDS a version of "All That Jazz" in German, but what fun! If you can't distinguish Brooke Shield from Ann Reinking or Liza Minelli from Bebe Neuwirth, by all means don't buy this boxed set. But if you want to catch some of the razzle-dazzle you may have missed, enjoy!
No Razzle Dazzle.......2007-01-11
I enjoyed both the revival production and the revival CD of Chicago. When they came up with the marketing ploy of a special 10th anniversary multi-disc set, this "Chicago" fan bought it even if the revival CD (which I already have) is part of the set. The various artist disc of famous stars who have starred in the production in the last 10-years did not offer anything exciting or interesting in their rendition other than their famous names. Worse, the documentary was not well presented and the clip from the show was actually just a teaser. It is so sad because Chicago is now the longest running revival in Broadway history and they have decided to put up a forgettable memorabilia that "Chicago" lovers will not treasure in the years to come. Such a waste. To ironically paraphrase a line in the show, there was simply "no razzle dazzle".

One thing I can say about this CD is that these songs are beautiful. It's like love songs written for the Lord, such as "So In Love", "This Song, and "Did You Know". Other songs that were good were:
In Harm's Way 4/5- touching, lyrics are great
Love is the Reason 5/5- upbeat, liked the overall sound to this song
Love's Coming 4/5- really liked the beat on this song
With All of My Heart 5/5- really liked this song and the overall sound
In the Midst of the Rain 5/5- this song was the bomb and the best on the album, really ministers to the spirit
I don't know if Bebe wrote these songs but they were beautifully put together and truly enjoyable. This is one of the best albums I own. If you don't own this one by Bebe, get it. It is worth it and a classic.
Love It!.......2005-10-12
This is hands down my favorite cd from BeBe Winans. Every song is sung with true emotion; his voice draws you in never lets go!Granted the whole cd is good, but whenever I listen, tracks 1-5 are on constant repeat. Also noteworthy are: "In the Midst of the Rain", "Oh Happy Day" and "Seeing for the Very First Time".
I Love this CD by BeBe.......2005-08-07
This is a nice CD to listen to and relax in the Lord. BeBe has such a laid back relaxed anointed way of ministering in songs for the Lord. This is a good CD to listen to if you're feeling stressed out. Sit down and listen to it and think on the Lord's goodness.
Winans always have good projects!.......2005-07-28
I love the song "O Happy Day." BeBe's version is off the chain. I love it. I play it on the air all the time with me being a radio announcer. The audience loves it. Hats off to you BeBe!

Album Description
OHM+ : the early gurus of electronic music
Special Edition 3CD + DVD
Leaps in technology: oscillators, generators, vacuum tubes, amplifiers, transistors, magnetic tape, integrated circuits, and the microchip inspired new instruments: the telharmonium, theremin, ondes martenot, electronic sackbut, clavivox, electronium, moog synthesizer, and computers and artists everywhere hungry for new modes of expression.
This collection is a humble but bold attempt to give form to the wonderful, multi-directional, inevitable birth of electronic music.
"Many of the ideas in this collection have now been so completely assimilated into popular listening that it may sometimes be hard to remember how surprising it all was on first outing. Some of it still sounds pretty exotic. These CDs are important as part of the story of how we got to where we are now-the cultural conversation so far-and as a still fruitful repertoire of future possibilities." from the Foreword by Brian Eno

Excellent but uncomplete.......2006-11-12
Althought most of the music here is an excellent collection of electronic music history, this 3 CDs lack of the important contribution given by the RAI phonology studios of Milan, Italy in the 50s
(which was bigger than Koln's WDR studios) with Bruno Maderna, Luciano Berio and Luigi Nono.
This is a big mistake. Milans studios were the biggest of europe and produced many important electroacoustic pieces.
If the collection aim to describe faithfully electronic music history, it should include this artists too.
Ohm... Ohm... Ohm..........2006-04-01
Back in 2000, Ellipsis Arts released OHM: The Early Gurus of Electronic Music, a fantastic and essential three CD set tracing the evolution of "electronica" from Messiaen, Cage, and Xenakis to Schulze, Eno, and Hassell. This set was recently reissued (as OHM+) along with a bonus DVD (which is thankfully now available separately for those of us who already have the CDs.) You can read plenty of excellent reviews of the original 3CD set on Amazon (and elsewhere), so I'm going to focus on the new DVD in this review.
The OHM+ DVD is jam-packed with over two hours of archival and more recent footage that runs the gamut from engrossing to mildly interesting to unwatchably dull.
If seemingly endless "talking head" interviews with Milton Babbitt and Bebe Barron are your idea of video entertainment, you've come to the right place. An interview with John Cage digitally altered beyond all recognition? Check. Swirling psychadelic colored dyes right out of a Saucerful of Secrets-era Pink Floyd concert? No problem.
There are some tastier goodies to be found on this DVD, however...
The segments with Clara Rockmore and Leon Theremin have an appealingly amateurish home movie quality to them. It's also a real treat to see the 1978 footage of underappreciated minimalist guru David Borden and Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Company "on the road" hauling around their truckload of big old analog synthesizer equipment. Laurie Spiegel is fun to watch as she tinkers with a big grey metal box called a "Concerto Generator" with an extremely serious expression on her face. And Alvin Lucier's "Music for Solo Performer," where he hooks up wires to his head and produces sounds using his brainwaves and two tympani, simply must be seen to be believed.
The Pixar-ish computer animation accompanying Paul Lansky's "The Dust Bunny" is sort of cute, but it goes on for about 10 minutes too long. Surely most of the OHM target audience already has the DVD of Steve Reich's Three Tales, but it's nice that they included the best part - the ominous yet goofy "Dolly" segment. Many have also probably seen Hans Fjellestad's documentary Moog before, but the six minute excerpt provided here is really about all you need.
It's too bad there isn't a more interesting John Cage segment, and regrettable that there aren't any Stockhausen videos (those would certainly be a riot!)
Overall, though, while the OHM+ DVD is not as consistently engaging as the CD set of the same name, it is a worthy companion to it. And if you don't have either of them yet, the complete OHM+ 3-CD & DVD "special edition" box set is a no-brainer.
This and..........2006-01-06
An Anthology of Noise & Electronic Music, Vol.1 will probably have you set.

This package is mind boggling. The DVD includes over 2 hours of rare footage too. If you want to know about the roots of electronic music, look no further.

Classic Heart!.......2007-05-07
While this album was not met with critical acclaim, it still ranks as one of my all time favorite Heart albums. I was glad to once again add it to my collection. I think I still have the vinyl!
The End of an Era for Heart.......2007-01-16
When this record came out in 1980 it ushered in a new era for Heart. The hard rocking lead guitars, lush vocal harmonies and mellotron of the first 3 albums were gone. The mature writing and dynamics of the impressive and inspiring "Dog and Butterfly" album also disappeared. Instead we get one step forward and two steps backwards.
This record has some strong cuts, like "Even it Up", "Strange Night", "Bebe Le Strange" and "Rockin' Heaven Down". All are well-composed, well-played songs - more blantantly commercial than the band had done before, but very enjoyable to listen to. There are also some tracks that just don't succeed - like "Break" and "Down on Me". The former being a fast paced wordy "vent" and the latter being a derivative, albeit competently performed blues track. These two tracks strike me as the real downers on the record - it's kind of like finding a fly or hair on your steak in a restaurant - one or two little things are so bad they affect the entire experience of the record. They aren't terrible songs, but they just don't fit in. "Raised on You" is reminiscent of a Christine McVie Fleetwood Mac track and "Pilot" is a nice acoustic composition. "Sweet Darlin'" is a nice ballad.
This CD is for fans only, and even as a fan I often find myself skipping around a bit. The album sold pretty well due to the hits "Bebe Le Strange" and "Even it Up", but the group started losing its fan base at this time and the worse was yet to come. After perfecting such a unique sound from 1976 through 1979, the regression of the band on this disc is jaw-dropping and I defy anyone to listen to "Dog and Butterfly" - the previous record and think that this is some kind of natural progression - regression would be the right term, but that's insulting to the band's first records. If you are a Heart fan you probably already have this CD. If you aren't, save your money and buy "Dreamboat Annie", "Little Queen" or "Dog and Butterfly".
The liner notes are basically worthless - no mention of any of the band turmoil that surrounded the recording sessions, no reflections on the recording - just a few quick comments on the tracks. There is a quote from Nancy Wilson mentioning the impending march of the souless corporate rock era that started to envelope the music industry. I'd say that era started with this release. The bonus track "Jackleg Man" sounds like "Break Pt.II" and it's good that it was left off the original album. Oh, and we also get a live version of "Break"...
SEATTLE'S OWN HEART ENTERS THE EIGHTIES WITH ANOTHER GREAT ALBUM!.......2006-12-29
I will be writing a review on the legendary brilliant masterpiece album entitled "BEBE LE STRANGE" by one of Seattle, Washington's great pride and joy's and own daughter's, the legendary great HEART! This album was originally released in 1980 on vinyl/LP and cassette on the Epic Records label in association with CBS Inc. I purchased the original release of this album on CD and the matrix or ID number is EK 36371. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary album, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible.
Again, What can I say about this legendary album and the legendary great band that recorded it all those years ago! Rock n' Roll was going through some major changes! As we all know, 1980 would be the year that the mighty Led Zeppelin's career would come to an end due to Drummer and founder John Bonham's sudden death in September! HEART, on the other hand, STILL had something to prove! HEART contained one of Rock's GREATEST female voices that would have made their ancestor's such as Janis Joplin, Grace Slick and Stevie Nicks extremely proud! Every single great female Rocker would give us some of the finest moments in Rock n' Roll history! Janis would give us "Me and Bobby McGee," Grace Slick would give us "White Rabbit" and Stevie Nicks would give us "Rhiannon!" Its only appropriate that HEART or Ann Wilson would give us "Rockin' Heaven Down!" It would also be on the fifth album that sister's Ann and Nancy Wilson would finally let loose and deliver one of the greatest rock anthems in the whole history of Rock n' Roll! In my opinion, "BEBE LE STRANGE" is an outstanding and brilliant album! Every single song track in this album is great!
I will list and briefly review all the song tracks in their original exact running order as follows: (1.) "Bebe Le Strange," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great HEART ROCKER! This song kicks a*s! I love Ann's angelic yet strong and powerful Lead Vocals in this Rocker! I love the musical arrangements in this Rocker! Great song!) (2.) "Down On Me," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great HEART slow Rocker! This sounds like a song that Janis, Grace and Stevie would sing! Ann sings this number with such beauty and grace that she'll have you grasping for air and begging for more! I love it!) (3.) "Silver Wheels," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great slow HEART number! I love the acoustic guitar arrangements in this song! A beautiful Nancy Wilson acoustic number indeed!) (4.) "Break," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great HEART ROCKER! This song kicks a*s as well! Ann really lets loose and belts out this song to the MAX! I love this song dearly!) (5.) "Rockin' Heaven Down," (A GREAT HEART ROCKER ANTHEM! ONE OF HEART'S GREATEST AND ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS IN ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY! THIS SONG KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! Ann Wilson's blistering merciless Lead Vocals sound so beautiful and raw that she opens and splits the heavens in order for the gods to hear this Rocker! I love this song so dearly!) (6.) "Even It Up," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great HEART ROCKER! Ann lets loose on this number as well! What a great Rocker in deed!) (7.) Strange Night," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great HEART ROCKER! I love the electric guitar riff arrangements in this one! The music blends beautifully and perfectly with Ann's blistering and merciless Lead Vocals! Another song I love so dearly!) (8.) "Raised On You," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great HEART ROCKER! This sounds like Nancy Wilson singing this song, am I wrong? You almost can't tell them apart! Either way, Nancy's voice sounds angelic and beautiful as well! This song kicks a*s and Rocks! I love it!) (9.) "Pilot" (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great slow HEART ROCKER! I love the acoustic arrangements in this number! If there was a female angel in heaven that sings with such grace and beauty, it would sound like Janis Joplin. It would also sound like Grace Slick, Stevie Nicks and Ann Wilson! If you were to add all four of these combinations together, you would have ONE HELL OF A SINGER! Forgive me for forgetting many of today's great female artists! There are many that deserve to be mentioned as well!) and (10.) "Sweet Darlin." (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Another great mellow HEART number! Ann sings this song with such emotion that she shakes this song to its foundations! Another great song I love so dearly! A great song indeed!) I apologize deeply for not reviewing the last two bonus tracks in the newly Remastered Recording series! I promise to review them ASAP so please bear with me and stay tuned. Overall, THIS IS ONE HELL OF AN ALBUM! Every single song track in this album is nothing less than outstanding and brilliant!
As you can see, this is definitely a treasure album worth purchasing that he or she should definitely own as a valuable part of his or her personal music collection. This priceless gem will always be around to be enjoyed and cherished for many more years to come, NOW AND FOREVER!
In closing, The HEART legend doesn't end here either! If anything, IT IS STILL ONLY THE BEGINNING! Heart has persevered and has still continued to entertain us with their own blend of their special magic which has lasted to this very day! I know for fact and I feel confident that HEART WILL ALWAYS BE HERE IN ROCK N' ROLL TO STAY, NO MATTER WHAT! A job well done! Again, Here's to you Ann and Nancy and to the bandmembers too! Keep persevering! Thanks for reading my review and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. HEART RULES! Long Live Rock n'Roll! Rock out always and take care. Forever in Rock, J.L.
Bebe Le Rocks.......2006-11-30
What can I tell you. Heart has been my favorite band since their debut album, Dreamboat Annie came out. Well we lost a member in time to record this album. Original guitarist Roger Fisher pulled the last straw with the band in Oregon while touring under Dog & Butterfly. Much like the Fleetwood Mac relationships that tore that band apart: Michael (drums), Roger (guitar) and Nancy were all apart of the original line-up being less one member. They soldiered ahead and delivered.
This album is probably the most ROCKIN album they have ever released. Not their best album but certainly in the top four albums of their career.
I saw the tour, bought the shirt, recorded the live broadcast from Ft. Worth off the radio back in the days of it's initial release.
This album smokes. For those of you looking to make your own best of CD taking song from all the albums they have ever released, the songs you must include from this album are:
Bebe Le Strange
Down On Me
Silver Wheels
Rockin' Heaven Down
Even It Up
Pilot
Sweet Darlin'
Not to ditch the other tracks. Certainly a special mention for Strange Night.
As a true Heart fan, essential CD's to own are unquestionably:
Dog & Butterfly
Dreamboat Annie
Little Queen
Magazine
Bebe Le Strange
Desire Walks On
Alot of people mention Brigade as one of there very best albums. Well speaking from someone who has been loyal since day one, I have to say Brigade is the album I listen to the least. That whole 80's thing with Heart was good, but not great. Too commercial, Heart kinda lost their way a little in the 80's (yet that was the most successful time of their career. Outside songwriting, seasoned musicians (Ann, Nancy and Howard were the only ones left from the original six member band in the eighties) and too much polish lead Heart away from the raw rockin' and airy beauty of the original line-ups compositions.
Any way you stack it up, 70's, 80's, 90's and since, Heart have givin the world something very special and original. No one has or will ever do what they did.
Here is what baffles me more than anything, The Pretenders are in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame and Heart is not. I throw my hands in the air and scratch my head on that one.
Rockin' Heaven Down.......2006-04-14
Bebe Le Strange is one of Heart's strongest albums. While only garnering gold status,it is a true rock success, with very solid and entertaining material. Now in this new package it is offered with two added gems, "Jackleg Man", and a live version of "Break". Nancy really shines on this record with her instrumental "Silver Wheels", and "Raised On You", while Ann gets down and dirty with "Rockin' Heaven Down", "Break" "Strange Night", "Bebe", and "Down On Me". "Even It Up", the album's single is not one of my favorites, but is also a true rocker. "Sweet Darlin'" and "Pilot" are beautiful ballads that are performed as only Heart can and will fill you with sheer bliss. This album is a must have for any Heart fan.

DAMN YANKEES.......2007-04-07
LOVE THE CD, BRAND NEW AND REMINDS ME OF WHEN I SAW THE CLOSING SHOW WITH JERRY LEWIS ON BROADWAY. THE PRICE WAS GREAT AND SO WAS THE SERVICE. THANKS A BUNCH FOR A GREAT CD
This isn't an aged wine, its a different bottle.......2006-07-28
Unfortunately its true, the Damn Yankees revival took many, many liberties and changed quite a bit of the show. However I happen to like this recording better. "Near To You" as a three way song, is AMAZING. Its worth it just for that song. I'll say the original Old Joe, was better than on this recording, but this recordings Lola is better. So, get both, I did. If you can only choose one though, I would go with this one. The orchestra is so much fuller. Favorite Song: "Near To You"
Worth Buying Just for Jarrod Emick's Thrilling Vocals.......2006-02-19
Okay. Maybe this 1994 revival of Faust in the baseball world isn't as revered as the 1950's original featuring Gwen Verdon. But it has sterling sound quality and is one of the few cast albums that almost allows you to understand the story just via the songs.
It's also a must buy due to the vocal pyrotechnics of Jarrod Emick. Emick's range and power are stunning. He literally blasts onstage as the younger incarnation of Shoeless Joe Jackson. In later numbers ("A Man Doesn't Know," the gorgeous multi-part "Near to You") his voice is quiet, controlled and unique. He sounds like no one else.
I saw the show during its initial release and left the show a fan for life. It's one of those rare times in the theater (seeing Idina Menzel in "Wicked" was another) where someone or something comes out of left field and makes you say "wow." This person is an astounding talent. He seems able to hit just about any note - high or low - and like Menzel can raise goosebumps. He's about to hit Broadway again in the Johnny Cash musical review "Ring of Fire." He should be a HUGE Broadway star and recording solo albums of his own. Why he's not is a mystery.
Bebe Neuwirth fares less well in her comic turn as Lola. While an amazing dancer and great comic actress, her comic faux Latin accent spoils the big "Whatever Lola Wants" number. This may have gone over well in 1950's America. But it's borderline offensive now.
Vicki Lewis, prior to her sitcom days, plays a reporter and delivers a rousing "Shoeless Joe from Hannibal Mo." Her energy and comic timing are impressive. I found her singing impressive. Victor Garber's devil keeps the plot moving along. But it's Emick's performance that keeps the show centered.
Yankee Fan - and Loved It Anyway.......2005-06-16
I saw the musical back in 1994, and met the stars of the show as well. Jarrod Emmick was one of the most gifted newcomers to broadway that I had seen in years, with a voice that could lift a house off the ground. I remembered Victor Garber from years ago, when he was in the movie, "Godspell" - I have his autograph on my tape of the soundtrack, in fact. I also had this album on tape, signed by the principals, but I can't seem to find it - it seems to be lost somewhere. At any rate, I'm not too upset - I still have the cover, which has the cast signatures on it. I intend to purchase the CD, since I don't think they sell tapes anymore. It was a wonderful show, and I deeply cherish the soundtrack which, for me, preserves the wonderful memories I have of the show and the people in it that I met. I would highly recommend it - especially if you were lucky enough to have seen the show.

Sorry -- didn't see the musical. (I'm a Yankee fan!)
I just wanted to clarify the angst over Joe (apparently) circling the bases during his transformation back to a middle-aged man -- rather than catching the final out.
Or at least give an explanation.
In the original novel, Joe DID hit a HR. However, while he was circling the bases, he began transforming back to his mortal self. Gasping and wheezing, Joe crawled his way across home plate.
