M. Gibbon "book maven".......2007-05-16
she is the greatest of all times. she brings a new flavor to worship and praise music.
She's OK.......2007-05-09
This recording is very good from a spiritual standpoint although her voice is weak on some songs. I had heard she had a powerful voice but I did not find it to be so. Yet there is an anointing on her life and the message does get through.
Will not disappoint!!!.......2007-01-12
I love Martha M. and her praise and worship style. Her music always leads me into a spirit of worship. What a gifted and highly annointed Woman of God. I would give 10 starts if I could.
blessedsister.......2007-01-11
I first heard of Martha Munizzi during our praise team rehearsal when our praise team leader recommend that we sing "God Is Here". That song truly touched me and "Glorious" makes you happy and you will be singing and dancing to it! This woman is truly annointed by God. I got the opportunity to see her perform live in Wichita and I tell you, the woman got soul! She reminded me of Teena Marie (who is a white secular artist that sings soul music) when I was in the world. But there is a difference:Martha Munizzi sings for the Lord! I call her " The Teena Marie of Gospel" because she has soul, she is annointed and the woman can sing! IF she ever comes to your town, GO!!! You won't regret it! I would like to give Martha Munizzi 10 stars and I would HIGHLY recommend this CD to anybody! Martha, do your thing for the Lord. You made a fan out of me, Martha Munizzi! You are definitely OFF THE HOOK!
GREAT CD.......2006-12-30
I first heard this CD driving back from NY with a Sister from my church and I fell in love with her voice. I went to buy the CD and found out it was a white woman that was singing....I was blown away......SHE IS OFF THE HOOK

What a Great Worship CD!.......2007-03-21
The Best Is Yet to Come
Anytime, anywhere, I listen to and sing the songs with joyful noise around the house or in the car, especially in front of my kids and husband (he loves it!). Uplifting and inspiring!
Uplifting and anointed..........2006-02-24
This is one of my favorites! Martha's voice is melodic, full of spirit and passion for God. You will definitely want this is your gospel/spiritual collection.
A word from GOD awaits you!!!!.......2006-02-24
This gifted and anointed woman of God has proven that if you just "Say the Name" you will see your blessings flourish. If you are looking for a great gospel, praise and worship and/or prophetic word, purchase this CD. I feel the presence of the Lord moving and every time I listen to this CD I am brought to tears. I have a copy in the office, in my car and in my gym CD player. Also, if you are looking for a serious worship experience, purchase the DVD.
God bless each of you that read this review.
The Best is yet to come, did come!.......2005-07-21
This is a great CD. I recommend it to everyone who likes to dance as David did before God.
The Best .......2005-07-17
The first time I heard Martha sing was when she came to my church in Raleigh. I enjoyed it like any typical worshipper would. Then one day I was in a cd store and I saw the CD The Best is Yet to Come. Something told me to get it and I have to say it was one of the best purchases I have ever made if you don't have it get it now! Run! Hurry! You will not regret it trust me

Grover Grooves .......2005-05-12
I found this album in a thrift shop for $1.00 in mint condition
I own most of Grover's work with the exception of Mister Magic.
Inner City Blues is my favorite though, it rivals the original.
This record, The Best Is Yet To Come isn't properly titled.
"It just doesn't get any better than this," is what I said after I listened to the title track. Patti Labelle and Grover sound heavenly. This is definitly one of the jewels Grover left us.
It made me realize how great he was and how much he'll be missed.
The album sleeve is a fantastic photo of him worthy to be framed.
Absolutely the Greatest!!!.......2004-02-28
I don't know how else to explain how much of an impact this man has had on my musical life. Every since I was about 5! I remember back in the day riding with my pops in his dark blue chevy pick up ....bumping Mr. Magic!!! That's when I discovered how much I loved jazz and Mr. Washington made it happen! Whenever I'm sad...i throw in Grover...doesn't matter which CD it is...because they all are the bomb. But Mr. Magic is my joint...and it always lifts my spirits!!!
Anyway, enjoy the album...and don't hesitate to get it if you haven't already!!! He's a musical genius and you must ...ABSOLUTELY MUST experience him!!!
Beetle aka Tonya :-)
Love IT.......2002-04-27
I've been meaning to rate this album for quite sometime so, here I am. It's a masterpiece. All of the tracks are great. I have just about all of Grover's albums and for those of you looking to add him to your collection, this would be a great addition. The man and his music have so captivated my own life that I'm at a loss for words as I'm typing this review. He was simply the best. Yes, there are many, many Sax players out there that are great but it's something about Grover that made you feel like he was a close personal friend. The man and his music are sorely missed.
Long ago and far away.......2001-06-30
I was on the plane for my study in the US back then (some years ago). On the short stop in Singapore I bought this album, another album by Grover called "Come Morning" and Billy Joel's "River of Dreams". These three albums accompanied me on the way to my destiny wherever that was since I had never thought I would be so far away and for so long. I was also excited of what was coming for me. Remember, an 18 years old college student never have an answer!
Fantastic art cover (so does Come Morning), smooth sounds and most importantly the final tune called "Cassie & Co". As a soundtrack for a tv series that I never saw, it captured what I felt about the longing of home. It was sad, chilly but also comforting that somebody out there knew exactly what I felt. The experience of smelling the autumn air, and the taste of September wind just brought back all those memories.
Most importantly out of nowhere, I dug this album yesterday and as I was laying on my bed, eyes closed, drifted in pure bliss. I thought about those school breaks and how often I played this album. I realize how beautiful it is. I also realize how I miss those days.
It's too bad when I looked up this album on Amazon, nobody wrote a review so I shared my feelings about this album. Sometimes good things will come for those who wait, because deep inside we always know that "The Best Is Yet To Come"!

If there's a precious tone to Michael Feinstein's interpretations of the American songbook, it probably stems from a fervent dedication to preserving the original context of his material. This is, after all, a musician who spent many of his formative years in personal service to the late Ira Gershwin. This collection further underscores that commitment, with the lush sound of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (augmented by the piano trio of Alan Broadbent, who also provides all but one of the arrangements here) adding considerable dramatic resonance to Feinstein's performances.
While singers from Sinatra and Streisand to Fitzgerald and Bennett have imbued many of these songs with considerable dollops of jazz, blues, and their own strong personas, Feinstein mines melancholy jewels like "Spring Will Be a Little Late This Year," "How Deep Is the Ocean," and "By Myself" for all their introspective emotion. "Somewhere" pays tribute to Bernstein with glorious, unabashed melodrama, while "Laura" (one of the most recorded songs of all time) gets recast in something approaching its original intent via an arrangement written for this recording by composer David Raksin. Feinstein himself penned the album's notes, paying careful tribute to each composer represented and noting that all were Jews, yet their music came to represent a richly American spectrum that included black and white and encompassed jazz, the theater, and even classics in its scope. There's a lesson herein, and one that spans more than mere history and musical archaeology. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Musical Wit in an Orchestral Setting.......2004-01-04
The one problem a record collector encounters when he has an album too many of one artist, is the tendency of the artist to sing the same songs in succeeding albums/settings. Feinstein, who I consider as the leading proponent in reviving the American Popular Song standards to its unfettered glory is backed by a philharmonic orchestra in this album with the musical direction of conductor Alan Broadbent. And yes, he sang some songs that were sung in sparse and acoustic settings in his previous albums. As usual, just like any cabaret singer who never really sings the same song twice (listen to the grand old dames of cabaret like Julie Wilson and Mabel Mercer), Feinstein delights in the varied ways he can see a song in different contexts. Having said that, I thought he was a bit overly cautious in exploring his rich bari-tenor (sorry for this oxymoron but that is the word to apply to his voice) in soaring the vocal lines of Kern's The Folks Who Live on the Hill. Other than that, he was at his wittiest and conversational (not to mention just plain beautiful) voice when singing I Won't Send Roses and he can revisit the Bernstein/Sondheim Somewhere without evoking the famous version of uber diva Barbra Streisand. If you like good crooning vocals in a grand and orchestral setting, this is the album to listen or give as a gift -- you/they won't regret it.
A Cabaret Singer Grows Up.......2003-03-14
"Extraordinary how potent cheap music is." -Noel Coward
Like Coward, Mr. Feinstein seems to understand the power of popular, romantic song when flung into the void of an apparently cold universe by an all too human, understated voice...I first heard Michael Feinstein sing and play the piano umpteen years ago in the mad, bad '80s. At that time, I found his choice of material from the great 20th Century American composers refreshing & interesting, his skills as a pianist were good, and his diction to be above average. Yet his voice at that time was a bit weak--there was too much bravura nonsense, too much vibrato and he may have been too young for some of the songs that he sang at the time.
Well, we've both matured, (I hope), and Mr. Feinstein has delivered a remarkably smooth, yet heartfelt performance on this album. I'm particularly impressed by his vocal smoothness and emotional restraint, especially on "Love is Here to Stay", "How Deep Is the Ocean", "Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year" & "I Won't Send Roses". Mr. Feinstein appears to really understand the depth of feeling that these words and music evoke in him and us. The vibrato is there when needed, but the ripeness of a mature singer is beginning to be heard on his recordings and the Israeli Philharmonic simply gives his singing wings. The only song that doesn't seem to fit is "Stormy Weather"--I kept hearing Lena Horne in my mind's ear, rather than a polished cabaret singer. I hope that Feinstein continues to grow in vocal power and subtlety as he does here. A lovely album for sophisticated romantics.
This cd is about average, it could have been better.......2002-08-18
First I would like to say i'm a Michael fan. I own all his catalog. Even though i'm a fan there are some things about this cd that I find in bad taste. Please let me explain!
I know it is hard to always be creative. There are just so many ideas to go around and then you have to start duplicating others. This is known as copying what others have done.
For this cd I felt like some of the arrangements were too long. For example, Laura as it was performed hear is a six minute song. It really should have been done in two minutes. I'm an engineer and I edited this version of Laura to run two minutes and it is just perfect. Sometimes less is really more. Also, I felt that some of the other songs didn't really have top notch arrangements attached to them. If the arrangements would have been better I whould have had no choice but to bring out the 5 star rating for this project.
To talk a little bit about the voice of Michael is my pleasure. His voice seems to be getting better with age. I have always liked Michael's voice and will continue to do so.
I will give this cd a favorable recommendation!
Fabulously Fantastic!.......2002-07-21
Feinstein has outdone himself with this collection!! He is in fine fettle with songs that only He can do justice! His interpretations and stylings are beyond compare and trust you will not be disappointed with this recording!! Feinstein is simply fabulously fantastic!
Michael has done it again.......2002-07-12
S'Wonderful, S'Marvelous.
If there is one thing you can say about Michael Feinstein it's that he knows how to put over a song. His new cd is absolutely magnificent, these are the only words to describe it.
Somewhere, By Myself, Stormy Weather and the rest of the songs are beyond compare. Do yourself a big, big favour and don't miss out on this cd; you'll love it.

Shannon's Back To Dance!.......2006-02-17
This is a great dance\club cd, with a new remix of 'Give Me Tonight' and a new version of her classic hit 'Let The Music Play', 'Come Fly Away' is one the standout tracks, this cd has a 90's club feel, and with Shannon's wonderful voice makes this a winner!
Awesome Music.......2003-06-12
She really put somes grooves down on this cd that you should not ignore! Every track is hot but my favourites are "The Best Is Yet to Come", "Believe In Me", and "Intimate". Shannon fits in very well in today's club music sound and her voice has gotten better with time. Get this cd now!
Best Yet To Come? One Hopes........2002-08-21
She ain't kidding, the first track, `Give Me Tonight' sounds like a parody of a dance track, the kind of music that SNL skits are made of. The rest of it is only slightly better. Oy Oy Oy. Shannon has a pretty good voice, she deserves better. Miss it.
If it aint broke - don`t mend it.......2000-12-16
Having been a great fan of Shannon for many years, I was very excited to find a new realease. After the last lp " Love goes all the way " which was a great LP and was never available on CD I purchased this title with much eagerness, and to be honest although the album is OK, with a mixture of new tracks and new remixes of old tracks I was a little dissapointed. The first 2 LPs ( showing my age ) were superb and I still enjoy them even after all these years and I suppose you have to move forward. But I will give it some more listenings and I expect It will grow on me. The original versions of " let the music play " and " Give me tonight " are, in my opinion far superior to the new versions. Having said that, I am still a very big Shannon fan and I am glad that she is still recording. Keep it up Shannon!
This groove you cant ignore.......2000-07-12
Shannon sounds just as good as she did 16 years ago. Give Me Tonight 2000 is an incredible remix of the classic song. Once again, Jimi Tunnell lends his amazing vocals to both Give Me Tonight and Let The Music Play....

Despite accompanying a comedy with a nicely hot-cha-cha premise--Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt as gold-digger con artists--this soundtrack disc offers very little in the way of truly saucy music. Besides Alison Krauss's take on "Baby, Now That I've Found You," three Antonio Carlos Jobim classics performed by Astrud Gilberto, Sarah Vaughan, and a stiff Susannah McCorkle are about the only suggestion of real sex here. The What Women Want CD offered Sinatra and Bennett, so why the third-rate lounge-act version (by Michael Andrew and Swingerhead) of "The Best Is Yet to Come" included here? That's not to mention the snooze-inducing singer-songwriter tracks (Shawn Colvin, Inara George & Bryony Atkinson) that amount to musical non sequiturs. A puzzling album, at best. --Rickey Wright

I Know Where You Can Find "Oh My Love".......2006-03-10
Visit www.johnlennon.com You can also listen to the song while on the website!!! Hope this helps someone!!!
P.S. Thanks to all for mentioning that this song was not included in the soundtrack. That was the whole reason for looking for the soundtrack!!!
RE: a music fan.......2005-10-04
If the song that you thought had a "brazil flavor" was acoustic, it is by russian musician Zhenya Rock, with the band ZEEROK. I cant think of the song title off the top of my head, but it is on his website (...). Hope that was what you were looking for
Oh My Love - John Lennon.......2004-06-29
I enjoyed Heartbreakers and thought the soundtrack would be awesome... sadly, it did not have one of the best songs played in the movie "Oh my Love" by John Lennon. I noticed some other people mentioned it on here, as well. If you are looking for a place to find it, try Anthology (4 cd box set) CD 1 or Imagine. Once again, the soundtrack was OKAY but they really should have included Lennon!
Please email me.......2004-01-14
Leaving JOHN LENNON out is horrible--and I have another question--there was a song I recognized with a Brazil flavor--when Weaver and Gene were on the couch later in the movie (soon before he dies),and it a lovely song--and it is just not there. These soundtracks are often a rip-off because I often get more excited about the soundtrack than the movie--does anyone remember the song I am talking about? THANKS!
They left out the best song in the movie!!!!!.......2003-10-28
When I was a young girl I used to love a song in the movie Little Darlings: "Oh My Love". It sounded like John Lennon. But when I got older I bought Double Fantasy and His Greatest Hits, and there was no "Oh My Love". Then a couple of months ago I was watchinh Heartbreakers(I hated it) and "Oh My Love" went on and my heart leaped...I could finally buy this beautiful song. So I go on here lookin for the Heartbreakers soundtrack and lo and behold, some of you Reviewers are tellin me it aint on there! What were they thinkin???? That songs the only redeeming factor of the movie. sigh. Guess I'll have to look for "Imagine"
