Bob Dylan has always been incredibly prolific, only releasing a fraction of what he records. Such a policy has made him a prime target for bootleggers over the years, finally prompting this sanctioned 1991 triple-disc dive into the Dylan vaults. It consists of rare tracks, unreleased outtakes, early versions of classics ("Times They Are a-Changin'," "Like a Rolling Stone," "I Shall Be Released"), and alternate versions that sometimes cut the originals ("Idiot Wind"). A measure of Dylan's depth is his list of discarded songs ("She's Your Lover Now," "Blind Willie McTell," "Series of Dreams") that would be the crown jewels of most catalogs. These 58 tracks serve as a shadow history of one of our most important artists. --Ben Edmonds

Beyond awesome!.......2007-05-26
How far beyond awesome? If there's a Heaven and a Hell, if you haven't heard this at your end, you ain't goin' to Heaven.
Buy it. And I dare you to try to remove it from your CD player after hearing it the first time. But listen to it sitting down, or it'll knock you down.
Add 5 stars to the stingy 5 stars.
Need help with sound quality!.......2007-04-03
Can somebody out there help me with this collection? A few years ago Columbia was remastering the Bob Dylan catalog, and that is when I purchased the 3CD set of his called BIOGRAPH, because on the back of the box it said, Digitally Mastering at Sterling Sound, N.Y.C., with SBM, super bit mastering sound, so I was glad that I waited to purchase it till the remastered version became available, and I`ve been holding off from purchasing this collection till this collection has been remastered as well, in the SBM way that Biograph has. Or prehaps it has been by now, can somebody tell me if Columbia has remastered this collection yet?
Dylan Review.......2007-03-11
I absolutely love this bootleg set. It is the best music purchase I've made in several months; I can say this after having it firmly rooted in my CD player since I received it in the mail. I'm not a "reviewer of music," but watch out for Dylan's version of Idiot Wind in the set. It'll break your heart and leave you wanting more. A MUST have for any Dylan lover!
Hear Dylan again -- for the first time!.......2007-02-24
I've been a huge Dylan fan since I found "Bringing It All Back Home" nestled amongst my mother's Sonny & Cher albums at the age of 17. I'm no completist, but I do have most of Dylan's catalog, including almost everything he released during the 1960's... or so I thought!
The Bootleg Series 1-3 is exhaustive without ever feeling exhausting - the three discs span three decades of Dylan's career, and it just FLIES by you like snapshots in an album, giving you a great sonic evolution of the greatest singing poet the world has ever known. The discs demand immediate re-listens (no really!), and many tracks will beg the question "why the heck didn't THIS ever find it's way onto an album?!?"
For the uninitiated (are there any left?), this collection is a great introduction to Dylan's first 30 years; but to those of us who grew up listening to the man, it serves as a time machine, transporting you back to that emotional rush when you first heard the nasal whine and amazing lyrics of Robert Zimmerman. For some, that's worth it's weight in gold.
Bob Dylan bootleg series.......2007-02-20
Love the Cd has songs I had never heard Bob sing, and everything was just fine.

There's no better example of American pop culture's hall-of-mirrors ethos than producer Alan Carr's relentlessly buoyant 1978 film adaptation of the stage musical Grease. Inspired by that decade's rampant 50's nostalgia, it now paradoxically evokes the campy 70's excesses that spawned it. That sense of recycled decades in collision is underscored repeatedly on this deluxe, double-disc Grease-fest, especially on the set's second disc of bonus materials that spans vintage singles of the title track (its instrumental B-side) and "Greased Lightnin'," some sing-along karaoke tracks, and a handful of alternately slick/techo-savvy remixes (originally produced for the film's 20th anniversary) that are testament to its enduring, era-defying appeal. The original soundtrack itself has been treated to a stellar digital remastering that fills disc one, and remains a joyous monument to camp, sheer ambition, and exuberant nostalgic illusions. Includes a slip-cased, double-fold-out case and new booklet with complete song lyrics. --Jerry McCulley

You 're The One That I Want.......2007-04-03
The complete Grease experience. This cd is a two disc-set with disc one being the complete soundtrack, while disc two is all bonus material including the popular Grease Megamix. Fans of the movie would want to make this cd an essential part of their music collection.
Prepare to be transported to Summer Nights.......2006-03-26
Well here we are with a great piece of history.
This album has not only captured the spirit of the movie but the essence of a 1970's version of the 1950's. I have seen this play live and yes some things are different. Yet I grew up on the movie. I even find myself singing some of the songs now and then. Of course you will never see me singing "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee." However I do keep this in my car as great driving music. This album is not you can pick apart and say things like missing songs, in the wrong order etc. It sounds and feels just right. There will be many versions yet this one is the Grease - Deluxe Edition [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED] [SOUNDTRACK] gives you more information about each of the tracks allowing you to feel that you have inside information and to feel that you know more of what went into the making of each song.
Great Soundtrack & Fun Extras from an Enduring Musical........2004-07-06
I'm enjoying listening to this great soundtrack that I loved as a child after a long hiatus. I had it on 8-track 25 years ago. So it's fitting that I should get the 25th Anniversary Edition on CD. The 24 songs from the movie are just as everyone remembers them, so I'll talk about the Bonus Disc, which contains 10 alternative versions of the songs plus 2 previously unreleased instrumentals from the film.
Track 1 on the Bonus Disc is an instrumental version of the film's theme, "Grease", written and produced by Barry Gibb. Frankie Valli's voice has been replaced by a saxophone. The chorus is vocal, but the voices are not those in the original song. You could use this as a sing-along version, as it would be easy to sing over the sax. Tracks 2-5 are officially sing-along versions. "Summer Nights" includes the chorus vocals from the film and sounds good. "You're the One That I Want" has new chorus vocals of questionable merit. "Sandy" is a new arrangement. It's not as good as the film version, but you can sing along. Track 6 is the single version of "Greased Lightning" that you may have heard on the radio back in the day. It's differs from the original in that the bad words have been replaced for radio airplay. Tracks 7-8 are previously unreleased instrumentals from the film. "Greased Up and Ready to Go" is lively. Tracks 9-10 are mixes that I occasionally hear on the radio. The "Grease Megamix" and the "Grease Dream Mix" are fun, if awkward. Tracks 11-12 are Martian Remixes of "Summer Nights" and "You're the One That I Want". They retain the original vocals, but set them to a Latin rhythm. They make pretty good dance tracks.
This 2-disc set isn't in a jewel case. The case is paperboard with 4 panels that fold out. This is inside of a clear vinyl slip case on which the tracks are written. This isn't convenient packaging. On the bright side, the case won't crack in the mail. Tucked inside one of the panels is a booklet that contains lyrics and credits.
The "Grease: 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition" is a terrifically fun soundtrack to one of the all-time great movie musicals. And for all those preteen girls who go wild over the movie with each new generation, the bonus material is perfect for parties and horsing around.
If You Love Grease, You'll Love This - Only 1 Major Flaw.......2004-05-15
Disc 1 is like the original album, which I also own. 1 major flaw is that "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing" cuts off at the very end of it! I was upset by this, hence the 3 stars instead of 4. Disc 2 is a lot of fun w/some remixes and sing-a-longs, all in all, I'm pretty happy with it being that I'm a HUGE Grease fan. If you like Grease, you'll love this, it's fun. Too bad when they "remastered" it, they didn't catch there 1 mistake. Oh well, at least I have it on another album.

This is part of the sound track from the movie, "Eddie and the Cruisers". I have the first tape and, although this repeats some of the songs, I think it better. If you are a fan you will love this one. Has really good solid rock music. Thouroughly enjoyable.

Perry is ALWAYS awesome, but there's a better way to hear him........2007-01-11
What can I say? This album removes some of the great tracks on "Street Talk" and replaces them with songs which aren't quite as good, then calls it "Greatest Hits". Not my idea of greatest hits really. The mish-mash rearrangement of tracks doesn't hold together as well as Street Talk either. The song-order seems off, in my opinion. No doubt the fault of some exec, rather than someone who actually cares about such things...
I *STRONGLY* suggest you buy "Street Talk" and "Love of Strange Medicine" if you want to hear all the *great* Perry (solo) songs.
Don't get me wrong, Perry is always awesome, but this collection isn't as good as the original album(s).
NO LONGER OUT OF PRINT! NO NEED FOR BIG BUCKS!.......2007-01-02
This CD was re-issued, along with the entire Journey & Steve Perry catalog, in November 2006. All CD's were remastered and many have additonal tracks, including this one: It now has an 18th song added to the new version.
It is now just titled Greatest Hits.
So, this disc was a Seller's bonanza while it was OOP, but there's no reason any longer to pay anything more than ten smackeroos for it.
Who's crying now ???.......2006-11-05
I am for wasting my money on this cd. The only good stuff on this cd is from his excellent album Street Talk. The rest of the stuff isn't even fit to sing in the shower, which is the only place Steve Perry should have sung these. Steve Perry has one the best voices ever recorded but most of these songs were just painful to listen to. A total disappointment if you alraedy have Street Talk and if you don't get that CD instead, he reallly shines on that one!
Steve Perry is very talented vocalist far beyond Journey!.......2006-10-09
First of all I'm a great Journey Fan, and even after Steve Perry leaving the band, I still respected them. Steve Auguri, the new singer is very talented and fits right in with Journey. But at the same time if you haven't realized, Perry's solowork is one of the great work in his career. If you are a true Journey fan, and still looking for additional Perry's fabulous tune...check this album out. You won't go wrong. I listen to it everyday in my car and I'm so happy I have this as a my new collection. Further, if offers several unreleased songs that you will appreciate more. I just hope someday Perry gets back into music recording and touring ...
Excellent, Steve Perry Just what I wanted!.......2006-08-11
Just what I wanted... the smoothing and heart pumping sound of Steve Perry's voice and music. Only negative thing about the CD is the cover. Would like to see that "Perry" smile instead of the relaxed collapsed pose.

If you're expecting a series of previously unreleased studio tracks from the Enter the 36 Chambers or Only Built 4 Cuban Linx sessions, you won't find much of that lurking here. But what DJ Mathematics assembles should appeal to any fan of the Wu or even just their scowling street-tale aesthetic and dissonant production. A loose assemblage of different B-sides, remixes, and a few unreleased tracks, the album includes both Wu-Tang founders like Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and GZA as well as satellite artists Eyes Low, Buddha Bless, and a post-pubescent Shyhiem trying to come grimy. Fans of the RZA school of dirty, dusted soul and funk loops will find much to like, especially "Wu Banga (Remix)," "King Toast Queen," and "U Don't Care." A throwback to the classic Wu era, Unreleased is welcome relief for rugged rap fans thirsty for liquid swords. --Oliver Wang
Album Description

This album features Ghostface, Raekwon, GZA, Method Man, RZA, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck, Killah Priest, Hell Razah, Shyhiem and many more! For fans of the Wu-Tang Clan and hip-hop as a whole, this album is a must have.

wish it was a real cd.......2007-04-09
this cd is ill. it deff takes me back to some 36 chambers cuban linx days. there is no doubt that wu tang is and was the greatest rap group of all time. there are a few new tracks from wu tang and wu afiliated ppl. but most of the tracks are remixs by the wu's long time dj mathematics. i guess there is no need to say if you r a tru wu-tang fan you need this bc the truth is really ur either a tru wu tang fan these days or u dont no much about them. its too bad but there is no more inbetween any more. i would really love a new wu cd with all new stuff. and meth is on the track that amazon said he is on.
UNRELEASED.......2007-03-08
THIS ALBUM IS A DIEHARD WU-FAN COLLECTOR. IT HAS THE WUTANGS OLD SOUND AND STYLE AFTER THE 36 CHAMBERS AND BEFORE THE WUTANG FOREVER SOUND. IN THOSE TIMES EVERYTHING SOUNDED DARK AND HEAVY ON THE MENTAL. IT IS BY ALLAH MATHEMATICS. THE WU-SOUND TODAY METAMORPHED TO A NEW TYPE OF FEEL INCLUDING MATH. HENCE, THIS ALBUM IS NOT FOR A SOFT EARED PERSON.
DIE HARD FANS, REMENISCE ON THIS BACK IN THE DAY JOINT AND HOLD TIGHT ON THE GOD'S JEWEL.
A throwback to the Wu era.......2007-03-05
Contrary to the Amazon description, this album does not feature Method Man on any of the outstanding material compiled here (thanks to the the peerless DJ Mathematics). Some outstanding tracks here. At it's best, this album showcases some of the pioneering touches that contributed to the Wu pantheon. Very reminiscent of '36 Chambers'.

I picked this CD up from Starbuck's the other day because I noticed there was a Previously Undreleased live version of No Woman, No Cry. I proceeded to listen to the album on the ride home the next day. The great thing about Marley and the Wailers is one song can be listened to with excitement, and the same song can later serve as a lullaby at a later time. With over half of the tracks Previously Unreleased, I highly recommend this to any Marley fan - casual or fanatic.
The disc is comprised of 13 live recordings from five shows performed between 1973 and 1975. I'll go ahead and list basic information from the booklet since Amazon currently lacks in that department for this particular release. Note: According to the booklet, Peter Tosh is featured on the first nine tracks.
Track 1 - Rastaman Chant (Previously Unreleased) Paris Theatre, London, May 24, 1973 (For a BBC Broadcast)

On the opposite side of the digipack cover is a quote that sums up any Bob Marley live recording: "The beauty of Marley's music is that while it holds a special significance for the sufferers of the world, it speaks to any listener with an open heart ... The rhythms are as close as your heartbeat, the voice speaks a language the spirit understands. And yes, when it hits, you feel no pain." - Robert Palmer, RollingStone, 1994

Product Description
Roy Buchanan was, his friends and admirers all said, the best-kept secret in Washington DC, a man who made angels sing when he played his guitar, and left an indelible impression upon everyone who heard him play.
Making music was his life; making records, on the other hand, was little more than an unnecessary intrusion. Even when longtime friend Charlie Daniels turned up, holding the key to the studio in one hand, and the promise of a Polydor recording contract in the other, Buchanan was not impressed. The sessions which commenced in October 1969 at Nashvilles Woodland Studios, would not be completed until February 1971, simply because Buchanan was unwilling to stay away from home for long.
The label apparently rejected the first album Roy delivered; who knows why. Roy had long claimed that he had pulled the plug on it, but that may have been a face-saving measure. In any event, it was shelved. Not long thereafter, Buchanan returned to the studio with a new producer, and cut the four tracks that close this album.
Everything fell into place. The four tracks - including the first mutation of that Black Autumn riff, tearing out of After Hours on its way to immortality, an early stab at the future legend Roys Bluz, and a magnificently raucous cover of Shotgun - still shiver with the electric excitement that crackled through the Polydor offices once the tapes were delivered. The label re-signed him immediately and, less than a year later, Buchanan would be back in the studio, this time to record an album that would put him on the path to being a rock legend.

Roy's Bluz.......2007-01-30
Though certainly not Roy's best body of work as a whole, there's some very cool pieces here.
The collaboration with Charlie Daniels on some of these tunes has a dark and 'off the wall' feel to it that I really like.
The out-takes and session tunes are excellent additions.
The fact that this is Roy's first recorded album, and it has taken over 30 years to see the light of day, make it a must have for any music aficionado's collection.

The Buckleys are great.......2007-05-13
Tim was such a great singer and songwriter that loved music and sang for himself and for the love of music and not for money and fame. Unfortunate for him the business dosent work that way. This cd is great as it reflects all of Tims talent and passion and pain. Jeff his son is absoulutely awesome...great voice and great songwriter like his dad so if you like Tim check out Jeff--you will love them both. Such a shame that we lost out on the places their talents would have taken them. You should check out the biography on them both...tells their story brilliantly and makes you love and respect them both even more. Its called "Dream Brother". Their story would make a great movie...very sad but great--not many people know of either Tim or Jeff but if you love music it doesnt matter. Enjoy the music and the message that they both send........"Have no shame in who you are."
Title Track is the Gem.......2001-09-25
I came across Tim Buckley's music for the first time in a discount record shop in San Francisco several years ago - since then I have collected all his albums (even the out of print ones - here's to online music file sharing!). At his best (as in "Dream Letter: Live in London 1968") he will simply blow you away - his voice is so soaring, so magnificent, so utterly beautiful, and his style so brazen, so heartbreakingly courageous, that his performance overwhelms. There's simply no one else like him. His albums, both studio and concert, range tremendously in style (folk/jazz/avant-garde/funk/etc) - he was a tireless experimenter, who exhausted many of his contemporaries. This album, in contrast to his many of his incredibly energetic, masterful, and often deeply touching live and studio performances, is quiet and subdued, if pleasantly so. It's "mellow Buckley" - gentle on the ears and mood but somewhat lacking in the tremendous intensity which is a trademark of most of his work. The gem of the album is the title track, "The Dream Belongs to Me" - a song that makes you chuckle ("I had a love affair with a crosseyed flamingo...") but which features Tim's rich, unmistakable tenor giving you a taste of the passionate emotional depth that made him such a powerful performer. Aside from this song, if you're into unreleased stuff, you might prefer "Tim Buckley: Works in Progress" by Rhino Handmade. It's a similiar collection from the same period, but somehow richer and stronger, and it also has some previously unknown songs ("The Father Song" is one). I have found myself listening to this more than "Dream". But I'm delighted to have both - you really can't go wrong owning anything by Tim Buckley!
These were the B-sides???.......2001-06-22
I first heard this album when I found it amongst the "heavy rotation" CDs at my college radio station. I had no idea who Tim Buckley was or that he was in any way popular. The very first song I selected to play was "Happy Time" and I was absolutely floored by the beauty of the song and, especially, of his voice. It is sad that he can be lumped together with so many other fantastic artists in the rock-and-roll drug-overdose roster. But what output he had in his short time on this earth! His melodies are soulful and his singing is superb and unique. You'll not mistake his voice for any other. If you enjoy Cat Stevens or any other great singer/songwriters, you will truly enjoy Tim Buckley. All the songs are good on this album, especially "Happy Time", "Song to the Siren" and "Ashbury Park". If this is just his B-sides and unreleased tracks, I can't imagine what the music that *was* picked for albums sounds like! I can't wait to get them all!

Customer Reviews:
For Tull collectors.......2006-01-02
Nightcap is exactly what the title implies. This is a collection of unreleased masters or out takes of songs by Jethro Tull.
Several songs appeared on either War Child or A Passion Play.
Tull recorded these in France and abandoned the project to return to England.
There are two sides to this compilation, My Round which includes the Chateau D'isaster Tapes.
The first few songs are direct from A Passion Play.
Solitaire sounds practically identical to the version on War Child.
The last few selections spark my interest. These songs are among the best songs Tull recorded at this time.
They had been in a vault and never saw the light of day until this was finally recorded.
Anderson released this collection because of fans who kept asking for it to be released.
Your Round or side two is not as good but worth a listen for Tull fans.
No Jethro Tull fans collection is complete without this CD.
Tut's or Tull's Hidden Treasures.......2005-07-15
Why this was held for so long is beyond me. I give it 4.5 stars only because excerpts from A Passion Play are repeated too many times. Otherwise, the songs are very good. As many critics say, you must be a die-hard fan to appreciate this great release.
Tull is always good ,no matter how you slice them. This is a great cd,get it!
Nightcaps.......2004-11-18
I ran across this a few years back, I've got all of Tull's albums and did'nt even know this existed. It's now one of My favorite Jethro albums. This is a two disk cd so make sure You get the one with both cds, because I've seen other versions with either The chateau disaster, or Unreleased and rare being sold seperately.
A Must Have For Tull Fans!.......2004-07-28
Tull's 2-disk set 'NightCap' is an excellent find for any Jethro Tull fan. It's like coming away with two new albums for the price of one! Disk one, is the 'Chateau D'Isaster Tapes', which if you were lucky enough to get the 20 Year Box Set you already own. This is the album that should have come out when Tull released 'Passion Play'. And you will hear many elements of 'Passion Play' throughout 'Chateau'. 'Sealion 2' and the opening instrumentals are personal faves from this disk. They have a 'Warchild' or 'Minstrel In the Gallery' feel, as does 'Critque Oblique'. 'Solitaire' even pops up here. If you like 70's Tull and you didn't know about these songs, then this is a must have. Definately a 3 star disk.
The second disk is the reason to buy this set though. No matter what era of Tull you are a fan of, you will find at least 1 to 2 songs represented on this disk. It's an eclectic mix of left overs from Tull recording sessions through the years. But these aren't just shoddy demo's or filler songs that Tull pulled together for a quick release. Most of these songs are as good, if not better than the songs which were finally selected for the albums. It's kind of cool, as a Tull fan, to hear familiar guitar chords, or flute lines, from Tull albums worked in a new way on some of the songs. Ian Anderson and company really shine on the acoustic songs featured on this disk. 'Quartet' is a neat little instrumental that could have been inserted into most of the 70's Tull releases. 'Truck Stop Runner' sounds like one of Tull's 80's synth tunes, stripped down to basics, and adds a bit of Country music flair to create a unique Tull song. 'Paradise Steakhouse' is an older song, but seems like it would have fit right in on 'Catfish Rising' or 'Rock Island', while 'Rosa On the Factory Floor' has a 'Crest of a Knave' feel.
'Nightcap' is a nice snapshot of Tull's musical journey through the past 3 decades, and worthy of adding to your Tull collection.
Something for Tull fans of all stripes to appreciate.......2003-11-18
Instead of comparing the so-called "Chateau d'Isaster" suite on Disc #1 of Nightcap with A Passion Play, let's just say that the former has plenty of what Jethro Tull fans yearn for: loud and spirited playing, interesting musical progressions, inane yet strangely expressive and descriptive lyrics, fine acoustic playing, and vocals that leap and soar. Does it work? Yes, as a curiosity of what it might have become; no, as a coherent musical whole. Much of it simply lasts longer than it has to, but much of it is still a treat in its own right. I can see why it was abandoned as a commercial project; it was heading in no particular direction and even its creators couldn't figure it out! I know I was certainly confused by it all. For fans only.
Disc #2 presents many fine unreleased tracks, again displaying the qualities fans have come to appreciate. Some of these tunes are obviously latter-day recordings as they display Ian Anderson's graveling and narrowing voice, but many are from the early-mid '70s when said voice was in full flower. The disc is chock full and can be summed up by saying that it would be much easier to list the lesser tracks than the better. I believe all fans will love it! Even the uninitiated might find something here to savor.
I would suggest to all, fans included, to find a used copy of this 2-CD set as the full retail price is a bit rich, despite the richness of the content.
