Recording is ok..........1999-07-04

The Dwell among us recording is ok. A little too much dialogue at times, but you can live with it. Cage attempts to make a go with super hyped up praise & worship, but probably needs to do some good old fashioned tarrying for his music to be truly effective and anointed.

This CD moves one to great joy, adoration praise and worship.......1999-05-21

The songs on this CD are tremendously inspirational. My life has been spirtually enhanced and encouraged and my journey made smoother. The songs always move me to great joy, adoration, and allows me to feel closer to the presence of the Lord.

Great Aeolian-Skinner before drastic renovation.......2005-07-01

Thank you John Near for having recorded so many fine tapes on the A-S organ that you were so instrumental in finishing and bring to peak performance. I am pleased you were able to rejuvinate the old reel-to-reel tapes because they enable us to know what a fantastic organ it was in its hey-day. The selections represent what this organ was capable of producing and I enjoy all the tracks on both CDs, but agree that the cassette made after your departure is of lesser quality.

After hearing a recording made on the altered instrument, I contacted the Mother Church and let them know my opinion of the reconfigured instrument; sounds like any large church organ in America. I can not believe anyone experienced in organ design would rip out a 32' stop and replace it with an electronic one. The A-S instrument has something like a 70hp blower system to pressurize large pipes with enough air to fill a large chamber like the Mother Church "Extension". Several of these 32' pipes might require 5hp or thereabouts, and that translates to many kilowatts of amplifier power for electronic stops, yuk!

I have the feeling that an instrument of this size and complexity was getting to be too dificult to keep tuned and maintained so after your departure no one had the will to preserve this "historic" instrument.
