This was my first 'Chicago Mass Choir' album.
It was simply the BEST !!! From the beginning to the end, I could not stop praising the LORD Jesus !

I highly recommand this CD to every heart-devoted Christian!
I also recommand this CD to everyone who want to know Jesus !

I also bought other Chicago Mass Choir's CD. Yes, all of them are GREAT, but this one is the BEST !

This has to be the best CD that The Chicago Mass Choir has ever made. The CD is full of energy and I would rate it the #1 Gospel Choir CD of 2005. My favorite is "Jesus Promised". But I also really like "Lord We Come to Praise You", "I Pray that I'll be Ready", and "We Give You all the Praise." The entire album allows you to "get your praise on"!!!

This is a really good CD, it is just one of those you have to really give it a chance to get good. At first, I was really disappointed until I warmed up to the songs. Now I love it.

My favorite song is "I Pray We'll Be Ready."

Chicago Mass Choir has been recording for 15 years, and they have yet to put out anything less than an A+ effort. "Project Praise" is no exception.

Everything you love about CMC is present on this set: encouraging lyrics, powerful vocals, traditional arrangements, strong melodies and hooks, and the good "feeling" that you get when you listen to traditional Chicago gospel.

I am also VERY pleased to report that the horrible oxidized sound that affected some of the songs on the previous release is not here. New Haven Music got it together for the choir this time, and the sound quality on this set is flawless.

If I could change just one thing, it would be to replace the two covers of their older songs (the last two on the album) with two new ones we haven't heard before. These versions are fine, but they do not improve upon the originals; nor do they offer anything new in the arrangements. But at least this way new fans can hear these gems for the first time.

I am so glad that artists like the Chicago Mass Choir are here to consistently give us good ... no, make that GREAT ... church music. "Project Praise" is yet another job well done.

This was a wonderful CD performed by Richard Smallwood. I live in Atlanta and went to the concert, but to have the CD is really heart rendering, soul searching and very spiritual. I can feel the Spirt of God moving throughout this entire CD. Every song is beautiful.

Adoration has some of the most outstanding music that Richard Smallwood has ever written. I am a huge fan of his work, and I believe that this cd is one of the best. The songs that touch me the most are "Total Praise" and "Thank You." Richard keep on doing what you're doing!!!! I am 16 and I LOVE his music.

Recorded live at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit at Chapel Hill in Atlanta, this album showcases the great talent of this composer/pianist/arranger in his hometown. The album kicks off with a string ensemble "Prelude," which leads to "Total Priase," a very well-known song based on Psalm 121. It also includes other beautiful songs such as "Angels," "Thank You," and "It's Working (Roman's 8:28)." The last song "I'll See You Again" contains a part of the famous hymn "God be with you 'til we meet again," and its reprise features Tramaine Hawkins.

This is another favorite item from Pastor Hezekiah Walker. This CD will never grow old. The gospel music is great for any church service. The song, "Christ Did It All" has a great saxophone solo in it.

The anointing of is truely on this CD. Takes you to church and is Hez's best album which got him a grammy in 94'only a year after he got on the map with live in toronto.

i was looking through my tape collection when I have ran accross this cd. I put it in my tape player and almost had an accident driving. This CD is full of God's sprit from the beginning until the end. It opens up with the Jazzy but churchy song Christ Did It All. Min. Kirvy Brown then takes the mike and makes everyone wants to make it to that city. Calling My name is a very emotional ballad led by Timothy Figruoe. It shows that even though we may fall millions of times, God is still calling and welcoming us back home. Sis. Monique Walker did no waste no time letting the anoiting fall on her on the song Let the Glory which she led previously on the Focus on Glory album. Even though the song is 13 minutes long, she does note bore you but when she is through singing that song, it will make you want to get up and shout. If you are a true Hezikiah Walker fan, this is the album for you.

      Rev.Andrew Cheairs and The Songbirds are a very unique christian singing group. They are a family group which consist of a brother, two sister, and a first cousin. I've had the pleasure of seeing him preach, teach, and sing the Word. When I first listen to "Live in Mississippi", it gave me a personal feeling, as if I was at the recording. My personal favorite is "Pass Me Not", that's my testimony. The CD is so inspiring that I had to buy the video. I recommend that you purchase any and all works by Rev. Cheairs and the Songbirds. If the Songbirds are in your area don't miss seeing them, if you do you'll miss a blessing.

      The Gospel Songbirds are the most talented group I have ever heard. The group consist of the Cheairs family. Every member is very talented. They are a very spirtual group. I know Rev. Cheairs personally, he is my pastor. He is a great leader as well as a great singer.

        This disc is killin. I love it when jazz cats step out of the 60's and deal with the sounds of today. From Drum & Bass, to straight R&B, Gunn is bringin the funk entirely. He has an all-star cast also, and they kill on every song. If you want to hear Gunn live in action, get this disc!

        i bought 'ethnomusicology 1' strictly based off'a how cool i thought the album cover and name of the disc was... and plus a dj was involved too???? well, you know me, I HADDA HAVIT...

        my emotions at that time were mixed... i'd love it for a little while... then would loose interest just as quick. after two years of flipfloppin, i eventually settled for the 3 dollars the book and music exchange was willing to offer me for it.

        yeah. i sold out.

        i think i had another gunn cd, but i cant for the life of me remember what i did with it... either that, or im dreamin i had it...

        either way, this one more than makes up for it!
        a real strong four and a half stars fareal...

        and yep, the dj is still there... not sure if its the same one tho. the dj on the first 'ethnomusicology' was pretty damn good, if i remember correckly... the dj's role with this project is much less obvious - pretty much muted and not used as effectively as he coulda been and omost hinders the final track.

        the overall mood of this disc is reminiscent to me of the branford marsalis quartet's 'requiem'... not as strong, but just as musically diverse.
        this cd keeps mr. gunn in the game.
        i'm eagerly awaiting further releases from him now and will proly go back and check out some of his other previous works.
        this is nice and well worth the time and energy.

        Yet again Dottie Peoples has made a mark in the gospel world I was there at the live recording in Memphis and when Edna Tatum came to the stage I thought she was going to talk forever but never did I know that she would deliver such an inspirational message and then when the Live In Memphis dvd came out I found myself playing that video over and over again, though I do watch the other videos but this Narrative was amazing she had the whole church on their feet and so did Dottie Peoples with the song "He Said It" and "Never Alone"

        I was at the live recording and was concerned that the incredible roof-raising and soul stirring atmosphere would not fully be captured on the cd. My concerns were totally unfounded. This cd is traditional gospel at its best. Dottie Peoples certainly personifies the title as "Songbird of the South" and her collaboration with Rev. Frank Ray Sr. on "Old Landmark" will launch you into a shouting good time.

        Even though this is Dottie Peoples cd, I have found myself playing Edna Tatum's narration to "Never Alone" Over and over again. If you enjoy Dottie Peoples then you should get this cd. However, if you want the full affect, then get the dvd

        This work of art is one of the BEST that I've heard from Dottie Peoples. I had the pleasure of attending the live recording at my church (New Salem Missionary Baptist Church). They rocked the house from beginning to end. There's not a song on this CD that doesn't keep me moving. The guest artists were just AWSOME! (Rev. Gerald Thompson, Angela Spivey, Shea Norman and More.) And my pastor Rev. Frank E. Ray, Sr. who had the house on its feet while singing the "Old Landmark". WAY TO GO!!!!!! Dottie way to go and please come back to Memphis and New Salem for Round 2.

        When i first heard this cd, it was in my dad's car. I'm only 16 and i was immediately hooked. All the songs are wonderful. THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST GOSPEL CHOIR CD I HAVE EVER HEARD. There are many different types of songs from fast to slow, from old church to new church everything u would want. It also makes u feel as if u were at the concert because unlike other gospel choir cd's, it has an AMAZING 16 SONGS!!! IT WOULD BE HELPFUL IF U NEED SONGS TO TEACH A CHOIR. THe other thing that hooked me were the variety of soloists on the cd from DOTTIE PEOPLES,KIRVY BROWN,JAMES HALL,MAURETTE BROWN-CLARK,KEITH "WONDERBOY" JOHNSON, TIMINEY FIGUEROA, TUNESHA CRISPELL, and about 20 more from his choir. PLEASE GO PICK THIS 2005 GRAMMY AWARD WINNING CD UP, U WILL ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I DO.

        I bought this CD when I heard "United We Stand..." on Emmett Powell's radio program here in the Bay Area (94.1FM Sat 6-9AM). I did not expect that the rest of the CD would be so outstanding. What a marvelous surprise!!! The CD is anointed with God's message in so many spiritual and upbeat songs including direct scripture passages. Every song has a powerful message. From "For the Rest of My Life I'll Serve Him" (a great song for a choir to march in on or for praise and worship) to "My Desire (is to praise You and please You more)" there is so much inspiration, power and praise available directly for you to use in your daily needs and in your daily ministry. For total songs from start to finish on a CD this is clearly my favorite of the last few years. If, as someone else pointed out in another review this is like his other CD's then I need to get the others as well. On the other hand this may be the only one I need. God bless Rev. Timothy Wright.

        Who better to review this project than someone who is a member of the New York Fellowship Mass Choir II? I attended a rehearsal back in February '03 for what I thought was just going to be another concert, only to find out it was in preparation for the greatest musical experience of my life. Each rehearsal (or maybe I should say service) leading up to this recording was nothing short of pure Shekinah Glory straight from the Throne of God. Each writer under the inspiration of the Lord brought songs that were inpregnated into their spirits. They gave birth to these songs during each of our rehearsals and these babies cried out aloud during the recording at The Greater Allen A.M.E. church in Queens, NY on April 28, 2003. Elder Wright (as we call him in NYC) is such a prolific writer and who has the ability to write a song faster than a NY minute, could have made this entire album by himself. But being a man of vision and wisdom, called upon some of the greatest songwriters that the Tri-State area has to offer. Each song has a message and an annointing that will destroy whatever yoke the enemy has placed in your life. "For the Rest of My Life" should be the testimony of every christian, and asking the Holy Spirit to "Have Your Way" can only lead to a deeper relationship with God. "My Desire" speaks of a person whose only desire is to serve and please God more. "Due Time" affirms that in due season we are going to reap if we faint not. "United" is especially relevant after Satan thought the saints would waver after the events of September 11th, but guess what? This nation has become more united than ever before. "Running for My Life" will have you shouting out of your clothes like King David did when he danced before the Ark of the Lord. If you are feeling worn down by the cares of life, there is "Safety in the House of the Lord" and you will find rest for your soul. Be warned: Listening to this CD will not only change your life, but will lead you into the Holy of Holies. All I can say is thank you Lord for my "Miracle".         I have all of Timothy Wright's albums...and there have been some albums of his that I really didn't care too much for. But Rev. Timothy Wright has unleashed his very best on his latest project on his former music label, AIR Gospel. His songwriting, carrying the traditional and contemporary blend that he is known for, is as crazier than ever. And the album's musicians take those songs to the next level with funky, churchy chord progressions and dynamic originality. Melvin Crispell (on organ) and the Wright Bros. are responsible for that. AND IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH...prepare to hear the sizzling opening cut, "For The Rest Of My Life (I'll Serve Him)" which features Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson killing the microphone along with the Godfather of Gospel. Other guest appearances from Dottie Peoples (on "There's A Blessing), Maurette Brown-Clark, James Hall, Hezekiah Walker & Valerie Boyd (on "United We Stand"), NY's favorite Danny Eason (on Joeworn Martin's "Nothing Can Seperate Me"), the Figueroa Family and Kervy Brown completes this project as they unite together to formuate a mighty voice for the city of New York. Timothy Wright has done this before with his "Come Thou Almighty King" project on Savoy. This time around, Wright reunites the New York Fellowship Mass Choir and exposes the world to New York's amazing faith. The album's content is just as good as the cause. That's a gurantee.
