      i have to say this is the hardest album to find but well worth it i'm so glad i got to listen to it on the sample menu. i don't use my credit card on the net but for this i will.very very good music for praise and sharing.

      Since 1970, Andrae Crouch has emerged as the most dynamic gospel music artist and writer in the post 1970 era. You will enjoy those songs they sung in your church when you were younger such as Jesus is the Answer, Can't nobody do me like Jesus and much more. This album was recorded during the height of the Jesus People movement and it shows an excitement that existed at that time.

      Favorites are: I believe, Who'll be a Witness, Spirit Now, Shackles. Very underrated group that should be mentioned in the same breath as the Soul Seekers, The Williams Brothers, Texas Boyz, and Christianaires.

      I just added "Jesus is Lord" from this release on my internet web show and looking at the 1st review by C. Loos, I TOTALLY AGREE! Young folks, at first, may not want to hear this because this is their parents contemporary gospel music. But my 15yr old daughter can't help herself from enjoying the Eternal Grooves from back in the day like Andrae! "...bow down, bow down, b---ow down!"

      This album takes me back to my youth when I first became a Chrisitan. The lyrics have so much meaning to me that it is diffucut to express my feelings about this album. It is just a wonderful album. The music and lyrics just inspire me and are a great blessing. I am proud to share this with my children and hope they receive the blessings that I had with these songs.

        When no one else dared to do it, these cats did! Who else would take 70's funk and wrap the Word around it? My Melody is a classic! I am getting the CD now because my tape is in horrific shape. "Stay" was also my jam and I used to dance to it regularly around my house. I rededicated my life to God in 1992 and after being a "club & music head" it was hard to embrace the mass choir sound that our local Christian radio provided at that time. I went in search of music elsewhere and learned about DOC from a magazine (now defunct?) called Heaven's Hip Hop and the rest as they say is history. Hollywood was cool too. Phrases like "I'll be loving you for days...." and "righteous to the funk and the funk to da righteous, I'm feelin' fine so maybe I might just throw up my hands, wave them side to side then jump in a line and do the slide..." became staples in my vocabulary... You gotta get the CD to understand. This is a must have for any believer who came up in the 70's or like the music from back then.

        If I remeber right this album was pretty good. I used to have the tape when I was younger. I only gave it 3 stars because even though as a teenager I would have given it 5 stars, I have discovered that it usually means that now it would only be 3 or 4 stars. I still remeber the song "straight to da dome" 5 star song

        3 out of 5 stars wow, is this some old school Christian Rap?!.......2003-08-09

        Well, it puts a smile on my face to see this album cover, I used to have this tape, havent listened to it in years, but it's cool to see this, brings back some memories.

        DOC (Disciples of Christ) were some christian brothers from the L.A. area, who, similar to DC Talk, used to both rap and sing. And, like DC Talk, the more albums they made, the more they sang, the less they rapped, and the better their singing got. In the beginning they had a white dude who actually played drums, then he left the group and they became more studio oriented. But they carried a message of God and mentioned a lot in their rhymes about the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, and of the importance of the Holy Spirit in a Christian's daily life. That stands out in my mind.

        Well, the album IS from 1993, so keep that in mind. The first song was the best one on here, "We Got It", with a music track that kind of reminds me of En Vogue's first song "Hold On". Also there's the song that was sort of this album's "Hit", which was "God gave Rock and Roll to you"- which they did with Christian rock group Bride.

        the rest of the album has some high points and low points, artisticaly. Like DC Talk, the best parts are usually the singing and the least favorite parts usually involve rapping. "Can we fall in love again" was another high point, an all singing jam where they tell GOd "I've lost my way, I want to fall in love with Christ again"...a good song...

        Well, that's about it. What can I say, this is 1992/93 Christian rap. Obviously, "rap lyric-wise", there's no comparison with today's Holy Hip Hop groups with real tight lyrical skills, like Cross Movement. However, I like to think of early 90's christian rap as being ahead of it's time in some ways. The mixing of Rock and rap started with RunDMC, but groups like DOC moved things ahead in that style, which sort of pre-dates Limp Biskit. Also, the whole style of having one artist who both sings and raps was a regular item in Christian rap music way before people like Nelly ever started.

        If you are a fan of Christian Hip Hop, or maybe if you liked groups like Bell Biv Devoe or BoyzIIMen back in the day, and you want to hear some "back to basics" original christian rap, this could be the jam for some.
