    I bought this CD as a gift for my mom, thinking that it would be something she would like. I listen to Contemporary Christian music also, but I prefer more alternative styles than what the artists on this CD sing, so I didn't think that I would like it. When I did listen to it with my mom, I found several songs that I thought were really great, particularly "For The Lord Is Good" and "Hallelujahs." They are by no means alternative in style, but they have great messages and are very inspiring. "Keep The Candle Burning" (Track 1) is a song I have loved since I heard it on the Point of Grace album, and it is a wonderful addition to this CD. The messages shared by the women on this CD are very inspiring and uplifting. Anyone who likes any of the artists on this CD will enjoy it. The "overwhelming joy" these women have received through Jesus Christ is really portrayed through the emotion with which they sing. The strong faith these women show through their music has encouraged me to strengthen my faith in God. This CD is not for everyone, however. If you really only like rap or heavy metal styles of music, you will not like this CD. The reason I only gave this three stars is that there is not a whole lot of variation as to styles of music, and some of the songs are not very good. But by taking the time to listen to this CD with my mother, I found that this CD contains songs that a woman of any age - whether she be 18 or 98 - will enjoy. If you like songs that are uplifting and that praise God with great messages and are recorded by some of the greatest female Christian artists, this CD is for you.

    Women of Faith: The Artist Collection

    Though you'd assume otherwise, it's rare to find a CD that brings together a truly broad spectrum of contemporary Christian ladies singing songs of hope and encouragement. "Women of Faith: The Artist Collection" does that, however, with a solid collection of talented and diverse singers and songwriters making music specifically appealing to women.

    Often filling huge arenas, Women of Faith is a ministry offering conferences where women can be encouraged that God loves them by other women sharing emotionally touching songs and stories. So it makes sense that there would be a disc that women could buy to be encouraged long after their city's conference is over. That's where "Women of Faith: The Artist Collection" comes in.

    "First Song That I Sing" appropriately starts off the disc, as Sara Groves uses clever phrasing to remind the ladies listening to prioritize their thoughts so that praising the Lord is the first thing on their mind each morning.

    Sheila Walsh helps continue the praise-minded attitude "First Song That I Sing" sets up with "You Are Beautiful."

    Point of Grace's acoustic ballad, "Who Am I," follows, asking the eternal question "Who am I that you would love me so gently?"

    All three songs are pretty standard when it comes to Christian music, with nice melodies and familiar beats.

    Ginny Owens, who is blind, thankfully injects some offbeat originality with "Free," a funky mid-tempo feel-good song celebrating freedom one gets from God's love.

    The enchanting vocals of diva Natalie Grant, heir apparent to Celine Dion, are showcased on the ballad "Because of Love."

    Babbie Mason's inviting live version of "All In Favor" sounds organic and energetic, as the backing choir kicks in and the beat is straight out of a large church where people are enjoying worship. "All In Favor" will make you want to get out of your seat.

    The Women of Faith Worship Team combine their voices on "Above All," which has become a favorite worship song in churches around the country. Michael W. Smith's version was a recent hit, and the Worship Team's version of "Above All" will probably find a lot of ladies singing along to its well-written lyrics.

    CeCe Winans' gorgeous rendering of "Alabaster Box" is the highlight of the entire disc, as Winans dramatically recounts the biblical story of a timid and scared woman who was willing to approach Jesus and offer to wash His feet with an expensive oil. "Alabaster Box" is an example of Christian music at its best. The song not only covers a biblical story in detail, but also relates the idea how Jesus still offers us incredible love when we offer ourselves to Him.

    The songs that follow "Alabaster Box" also represent some of the best songs Christian music has to offer, including Darlene Zschech's "The Potter's Hand" and Kathy Troccoli's tender "All For The Life Of Me."

    Toward the end of the fourteen-song disc is "Hold On Tighter," sung with country twang by comedienne/singer Chonda Pierce. Though she usually makes people laugh by sharing all the funny things going in her life, Pierce might make you cry with "Hold On Tighter," as she tells the classic story of a mom saying goodbye to her daughter going away to college.

    Though most of the songs on "Women of Faith: The Artist Collection" aren't exactly the music you hear at Women of Faith conferences, all of the artists on the disc have been involved with the ministry of Women of Faith. "Women of Faith: The Artist Collection" would make a great gift for a woman of faith who enjoys a good variety of songs and artists.

    I originally purchased this recording in Audio and am now buying the CD to listen everywhere. The song selections are wonderful and are great for whatever spiritual uplifting you feel you need. I constantly play it in the car and now want to listen as I workout, when I walk to work from the train, and when I am at work.

      The message is very good and not forgetting the lyrics. I really never knew how good it was until i got it, found the cd very encouraging especially for us young and older women to know that we can get together and unit through praise and worship to our Almighty God. .

        When I saw the "Women of Faith" series, for some reason I thought these were compilation projects by several Christian female vocalists such as Twila Paris, Margaret Becker, Point Of Grace, etc. I discovered that it really is a worship band on its own.

        Does this mean that this is not a good project? No. It is worshipful, especially for someone who loves hearing female vocalists like myself.

        This project includes a cover of "I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever" (originally done by Billy Sprague, but also done by Sonicflood). There are three other titles that sound like hymns: "How Great Thou Art", "Jesus Lover Of My Soul", and "Love Lifted Me." The first is the hymn, the second is not, and the third contains the hymn's chorus, but has new verses with new music.

        My favorites include "Lord Most High", "Let's Think About Our God", "Boundless Love", "Celebrate The Lord Of Love", "Hear Our Praises", and "How Great Thou Art".

        The Women of Faith praise team has put together a wonderful CD. Whether they are singing upbeat songs such as "Your Love For Me" and "Boundless Love" or the more contemplative "Hear Our Praises" or "Jesus Lover of My Soul", these women sing straight to the heart. They remind us that the basis of the Christian faith is the faithful and everlasting love of Jesus Christ. This CD is a great encouragement and helps to strengthen and renew the faith of the listener.
