A FABULOUS LATINO PRAISEFEST!!.......2001-07-13
If you like your praise music hot, with a touch of Afro-Latin spice, this album is for you. "Alabanza al Ritmo del Caribe" provides the listener with a feast of songs created in idioms of indigenous Caribbean music. We are treated to salsa, salsarengue, calypso, flamenco tropical--and the songs capture of range of moods found in the worship experience--adoration, exuberance, contemplation, etc. The brass arrangements on this CD are outstanding, and one of the special treats of this album is the juxtaposition of folk themes wedded to professional orchestral accompaniments. A good example is the song "Pero LLegaste Tu", which utilizes Moorish flamenco motifs from old Spain. The trombones really shine on this one! My personal favorite, "Todo te alabe", features a simple Puerto Rican folk melody which dances above a funk bass line and introduces us to the delicate sound of the cuatro, the folk guitar of Puerto Rico. "Alabanza al ritmo del Caribe" is a MUST-HAVE album for anyone who enjoys listening to the musics of the Caribbean-- get it while you can!!
