Customer Reviews:
This man really loves Jesus..........2006-01-08
I saw Travis Cottrell when he was leading the praise and worship for a Beth Moore conference/weekend, and I was concerned that there would be a lot of "hype", as there sometimes is in large praise and worship settings. Not so with this man. He obviously has an incredible passion for Jesus, and it pours out of his music. His concern was never with "performing" (although he and the people singing with him were amazing); he most wanted to communicate his love for God, and encourage others to abandon themselves to Him.
This CD is great-- I especially love the songs "In Christ Alone/ Solid Rock", "Blessed by the Name", and "My Passion" (which he wrote, and it is the reason I purchased the CD).
I would recommend this to anyone who longs for an intimate time with God as they sing His praises...
You can't help but lift your hands for praise!.......2005-10-10
This CD is a great CD to add to any Praise and Worship collection. The songs have a mix of group worship versus solos. The voices blend together to just invite you to sing and life up your hands in praise.
I first heard this CD during a Beth Moore conference. All of these songs were done and I think they are just as powerful as listening to them in your car as they are with 5000 women singing together.
One of the things I like about these song is that as a female I can actually sing them in two different ranges which is neat to be able to sing in my car depending on my mood.
Each person will have a favorite. My mom's is God is Great and mine is ALive Forever Amen. There are NO bad tracks on the CD and you will not be dissapointed.
If you ever have a chance to attend a Beth Moore conference, I would recommend it highly. She is a great speaker, but Travis has some really great stories to tell that make you feel like you have known him for long. I think after a conference, listening to his CD's (and I do own more than one of his too) is an even greater joy.
WOW! If you're looking for one good worship CD...........2005-06-24
...this is it!
I wasn't familiar with Travis' work before attending a Beth Moore conference recently. He just blows me away! This CD is very easy to listen to and sing along with. I am so uplifted by God's Grace everytime I listen!
There is a nice blend of different styles - contemporary, a little gospel, and even some traditional arrangements. As another reviewer stated the whole CD just flows very nicely from one song to the next.
It's a blessing to me.
Passionate and Powerful.......2005-04-13
There is a holy flow in this work as one song smoothly transitions into the next. It starts with upbeat, driving selections, then segues into a mellow soft conclusion. One of the songs that mores me most on this album is "Friend of God." Like all effective praise and worship albums every element is significant, the instrumentation, lyrics, arrangement of the songs, and engineering. It all comes together on this album.
Integrity Media has a reputation for quality products and this one lives up to the corporate standard. Cut 9, "Blessed Be Your Name" is another highlight of the CD. Overall, this will be a nice addition to anyone's audio library.
I absolutely dare you...........2005-04-03
to sit still and NOT worship during this CD! If you love genuine P&W, then you can't miss with this. It's my favorite new P&W CD and I can't stop listening to it over and over again. If you don't own any other Travis CD's, I recommend them ALL. He is completely gifted by the Lord and an incredible worship leader and LIVE...OH MY! You feel the presence of the Lord for sure!
Isn't God great that He would give us such incredible gifts that can be used to honor Him!!!

Customer Reviews:
Awesome Set!.......2007-07-01
I am a huge fan of Jerry Goldsmith. They did a great job preserving his vision. I can listen to this collection for hours. Great music!
Elmer Bernstein Film Music Collection.......2006-11-03
This is compilation of hit film music from one of the greatest composers in motion pictures. What is surprising though is the music not included like the Ghost And The Darkness, the 13th Warrior, Rudy and others. To be sure, 4 discs are not enough for a composure of this stature. THe recording, however, is an "engineering masterpiece" which makes the music even more enjoyable than when you first heard it at the movies. When are we ging to get the music that was omittd from this compilaton?
Overall a strong Goldsmith sampler.......2006-04-11
Okay, this is a CD review, so the focus is on music, but I've got to say this first: this has got to be a contender for the ugliest cover art ever. I mean, come on...instead of a tribute to the composer, the cover looks like someone spilled a glass of merlot over a NASA photo.
Fortunately, even an ugly cover will not ruin good music. And the good news is that I'd say about 75 percent of the music is good....and on a 4 cd set, that's a lot. Like other Silva compilations, the strength of this compilation is the variety. There are selections from the big releases (Star Trek, Omen, Rambo), but there is also a healthy dose of tracks from the smaller releases(Under Fire, Lionheart, The Swarm).
Two examples come to mind. Capricorn One and The Great Train Robbery are two movies that are not exactly household names today, but are dominated by two of Goldmith's finest main themes. The City of Prague Philharmonic come through with terrific renditions. And there are plenty of other strong performances...a few being concert versions conducted by Goldsmith himself. Suprisingly, "The Wind and the Lion" works, which is no small accomplishment given the ferentic original performance of "Raisuli Attacks".
It's not a complete success. A few of the performances fall flat, particularly some of the more inventive scores. Total Recall is just bad, mangling the performance with poor percussion and synthesizer choices to boot. Also a letdown is the Klingon Attack from the first Star Trek movie. The Prague Philhamonic attempt doesn't sound bad--it's just that once you've heard the original soundtrack's "blaster beam" with enough bass to rattle your teeth...well let's just say Silva's version is a little tinny in comparison.
But I shouldn't dwell on the negative. Overall, this is a strong sampler of Goldsmith's variety. There are plenty of quality performances here, and despite a few omissions (noticeably Planet of the Apes)this is a very good release from Silva.
Jerry Goldsmith - 40 years of pleasure.......2006-02-22
It was wonderful to hear Mr. Goldsmith's music that went all the way back to The Man from UNCLE, The Waltons, Dr Kildare, etc. And then to hear his music up to the present. The man was a genius!
Almost the perfect compilation.......2005-12-31
Age has its value.... This sweeping collection of compositions brings back so many great memories. This collection shows how significant Goldsmith was for both the movie screen and the small screen. With such a grand collection, every reader can be assured that at least one movie or TV program they like or remember had Goldsmith's contribution. It was an amazing life and the collection well worth having.
However, as sweepig as it is, there are a few holes in the selection. "First Contact", one of the sweetest and richest compositions from the Star Trek is absent. "The Ghost and the Darkness" is missing and the "Medicine Man" music should include the theme song. By dwelling on several selections from the Blue Max, these were squeezed out. Three full and important movie themes got the axe.
However, all but "The Ghost and the Darkness" are readily available and not overly expensive as is the "Ghost" CD. This is a must have for the TV and movie music fan.
Before there was Hans Solo there was Napolean Solo, before ER there was Dr. Kildare. Jerry Goldsmith IS Sci-Fi. "Resistance is futile.. you MUST assimilate this CD collection."

Broadway Divas.......2007-01-22
Wonderful selection of classic singers and songs. Special favorites are Ethel Merman and Barbara Cook.
Love the choices.......2006-08-11
This is great. Anything with Ethel, Bernadette, Barbara (both of them), Mary, and Marin is beyond words. Any one of them by themselves is awesome but these ladies together are mind blowing. All of the women sound amazing but they made a mistake on the list of songs and composers. "Raise the Roof" sung by Julia Murney (I love her)was written by Andrew Lippa, not LaChusia.
coulda been a contender.......2006-03-15
The divas are indeed divine, but the choice of music sung left me wondering why, with so many other great music selection contenders.
Two words: Julia Murney.......2001-09-03
OK, so it sounds crazy to review an album with Ethel Merman and Bernadette Peters on it and not mention them. But...tough. I've read enough about them to know how good they are.
Buy this album as a token of love to the producer who had the cajones to put Julia Murney on an album celebrating the last 100 years of Broadway divas.
Because SHE is one of the greatest voices of the decade!

Customer Reviews:
Amazing!.......2006-08-01
After listening to about three seconds of this cd online, I ran out to the store to buy it. This cd is so good, I still can't believe it. It's almost too good to be true. But anyway, this is a pure, flat out rock cd. And a great one at that. Fans of Switchfoot, The Classic Crime and Jimmy Eat World will definately like this cd.
1.The Last Time (10/10) Probably my favorite song on the cd. A great faded beginning and also great lyrics. Cool backup guitar during the verses. Also, the bridge has an amazing solo that soon joins in with another one, making two completely awesome solos going at the same time. Every part of this song is fantastic.
2.Encounter (10/10) Another one of the best songs on the cd. Cool riff that appears throughout the song. The verses are very cool with one guitar playing the two power chords and the other palm muting. Very catchy. Again, great lyrics and another great solo (only one guitar this time). Great song.
3.The Need To Feel Alive (8/10) The only thing "eh" about this song is that I think that the lyrics can get a bit corny. Other than that, there's an aweseome guitar intro. Another good rock song.
4.Something More (8/10) Another good rock song with great guitar. Good lyrics.
5.Great Divide (8.5/10) Good theme to the song, that go with good lyrics. Cool palm muting during various parts of the song. Cool guitar riff during bridgeish part of song.
6.Romance In Denial (10/10) Probably my second favorite song on the cd, although it's really hard to decide because they're all so good. The lyrics in this song seem a bit mysterious, making them cool. The bass and drums in verses are awesome, and all the buildups in this song are really cool. The different riffs throughout the song are awesome. Also, VERY cool bass solo, although not as good as the one on their newer cd. The singer hits some pretty high notes in this song. Very cool. An awesome 5+ minute rock song.
7.The Vanity Letter (9/10) More "in your face" lyrics...kinda...sorta. Anyway, good song. Great guitars.
8.Opportunity (We Could Be The Ones) (10/10) This song is another great rock song, yet it has a calming, more mellow feeling to it, maybe because of the piano during certain parts of the song that make it even better. Awesome intro in this song, and amazing lyrics. A very well done song. Really cool ending. Just a great song all around.
9.Identical (7.5/10) Probably my least favorite on the cd, but that's not saying much cuz this is still a great song. The lyrics are about WAY back in the day when two different religions disagreed on who they thought God was, not thinking about the fact that they were still worshiping the same God. Good theme, I just find it a bit corny at times. Still, good song.
10.Alone (8.5/10) AWESOME INTRO that builds up to the song. Again, lyrics are a bit corny, but whatever...The chorus is very good and catchy.
11.Knoledge (9.5/10) Great piano in this song. It's not your typical slow piano song. Very well done instrumental arrangement, especially when it combines with the violin. Very good lyrics. I really like them. And I absolutely love the end of the song when the guitars and drums come in for the hard rock ending. Great bass drum during that hard rock ending. Perfect way to end the cd.
If you don't have this cd...get it!
A winner from start to finish.......2006-01-16
Switchfoot fans rejoice, Forever Changed has arrived! It's been a long, long time since I listened to a CD and my very first thought was "Wow!" From the opening song, I was impressed...and it only got better.
Forever Changed is a young band from Florida that recently signed with Floodgate Records. You can't really characterize their sound, but I'd go with Switchfoot-meets-Chevelle-meets-Seven Day Jesus and feel safe. Dan Cole's strong, passionate vocals are right in line with them. Ben O'Rear's guitar work is amazing (though they kind of fake you out with the intro of the first song). These guys sound tight! And when's the last time you actually noticed the drummer in a disc? Well, get prepared to notice everything here.
"The Last Time" starts things with almost a low-key feel at first, and then the music explodes on you. "Encounter" picks up next and keeps you running. Ever heard a band where every guitar solo sounded similar? Not gonna happen here. There are so many little riffs sprinkled throughout the songs you can't get bored.
The title cut is a cry from a broken soul longing to feel something again. If you've ever grown cold inside and watched others excited about their relationship with God, this is how you'd express it.
"Something More" is good, but "Great Divide" has to get you with its lyrics. It's the story of a teenage girl who listens helplessly as her parents scream at each other outside her door. When the father leaves (for good), the song says "She appears to be alive, while dying from the inside out". This is a really emotional song, and it will affect you.
"Romance In Denial" changes pace with a U2 feel. Man, this one got me. One member of a relationship watches in denial as the love dies and things come crumbling down around them. "Dreams, our dreams have come and gone. You claim that you're still chasing yours. So wait-where do I fit in?" This one is a lyrical masterpiece, and I can easily see mainstream radio for this one.
"The Vanity Letter" reminds me a lot of a King's X type of song. The guitars go from hard to clean to a vicious wall of sound, and it's great! "Opportunity" is a call to wake up from apathy and reach those around us. It has to win as the best opening hook on the disc.
"Identical" and "Alone" really showcase Nathan Lee's drumming. The closing song, "Knowledge", might almost seem out of place here. A quiet piano ballad on a rock disc? Don't worry, it works. "You should've known there's more to life than `Live For Today'", the song declares. Then, right when you think you can relax, they bring out the big guns to close the quiet song in true rock fashion.
In all honesty, there's not a single bad song in the bunch. The only warning I can give you is sometimes the lyrics may be too honest for you. There's nothing wrong here, but you can tell these guys have experienced pain before and can remember the despair of life without God. Be prepared to find hope in the midst of struggle.
The production on this disc is top-rate. Tim Taber (formerly of The Prayer Chain, one of the greatest Christian alternative bands ever) was the Executive Producer, but the band credits James Paul Wisner for their sound. They even list the instruments used (haven't you ever wondered?) and a great "Behind the Music" type story of how "The Need To Feel Alive" came to fruition. They shot for a "live" sound, and got it. This is easily my top Christian album so far this year, and it'll take something big to move it. I highly recommend it, and I'm really looking forward to what these guys come up with next!
You Said This Is Christian Rock?!?!?.......2005-11-03
That was my first thought as I heard this album. The album was introduced to me by a very close and dear friend who played the album and then told me they are a christian band. I was shocked. I strongly suggest that everyone should consider this album as a staple of their music library. I am not necessarily a fan of Christian music myself in fact, my tastes have always been more of the harder edge stuff but I try to listen to everything and hear the sentiment of the lyrics. This album blew me away in an instant. I have seen many bands in concert and heard several thousands of albums in my lifetime. This band ranks among the tops. The reason: the band is extremely tight in their performance. The melodies are strong and so powerful that you can't help but to tap your foot and hum the songs long after the album has finished. The lyrics struck you to your inner core and share a common thread to many life experiences that we all have or will go through. This is one album that I have listened to several times over in a matter of days and still am not tired of it. I look forward to hearing their future albums and seeing how their career progresses. Another great thing about the band is their sense of humor.
the best yet from FC.......2005-08-27
I've been a fan of FC since 2001 when that guy that sings the "screamin' infidels song" was the singer. They grown sooooo much since then. The best song on the album is "Alone." The lyrics blew the freak outta me. It was EXACTLY what I go through on a regular basis. The best is seein them live, though. The still play old songs like "Moon is Down," "Sincerity Form of an Art," "Everybody's Workin' for the Weekend" etc. Buy this cd and let your grandma listen to it. I did and she gave me 7 bucks!! THAT'S a great cd!!
underoath without the screaming.......2005-08-20
another james paul wisener produced album (he seems to hand on this bands full length debut doing some guitar part here and vocal thing there). The album showcases earnest vocals and harmonies, big wall of sound guitars, and spirtual esque-lyrics. IT really sounds like underoath without the screaming. Its sprinkled with a few tasteful guitar parts and the gimicky keybaord effects that do at least a decent job of adding an atomspheric touch in songs like "romance in denial". ITs a pretty consistent album but like underoath its not paticularly. Though if anything its a little more accessible and the guitars are a little more melodic, but the distinguishing quality's arte few in between, the production helps alot for accessability. But its far too earnest, far too over produced. ITs kind of enjoyable, but its also a little monotnous

Amazing.......2005-03-17
I recently heard an excerpt from this CD on the radio. I immediately purchased the CD and found it to be a collection of music that is superbly played on an instrument that I haven't heard in years. It is a welcome addition to my CD collection. I have listened to it several times and highly recommend it.
Don Angle Rocks With His Spirited Harpsichord!.......2004-09-26
If you have been deprived of the genius of Don Angle until now, you are in for a treat! His latest CD, "Yes Indeed!" offers the most scrumptious sampling of instrumental music ever recorded. Don has selected very classy tunes from Quincy Jones, the Bee Gees, Stephen Foster, Nino Rota and John Phillip Sousa to bring alive his shockingly spirited harpsichord, yes I said harpsichord! His brilliant arrangements begin with the joyful Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah and include beloved traditional songs, Don's signature Boogie, and three more luscious Don Angle creations, including his title song "Yes Indeed!" If you have long been a Don Angle fan, as I have, then you already know the thrill of his unique arrangements as he makes his harpsichord "rock!" New to Don Angle's world, or devoted fan, you will want to have this CD sound in your life. Yes Indeed!
