Customer Reviews:
One of the first awesome albums from WWMT!.......2005-04-12
(really 4.5 but that's not an option here)
This has always been a great WWMT album. It may have only been their third album, but it still sounds great even today. This was when they showed what dance music SHOULD sound like. Let me review the songs...
Revolution: This has always been one of my very favorite WWMT songs. It has awesome vocals, awesome lyrics, and an awesome sound. It also has a great feel to it. Great dance song.
Rain (Set Me Free): Another one of my favs! I wouldn't say it has the best beat for dancing (a little bit frantic), but the chorus is easy to lightly dance to. Very pretty song! I know this sounds strange, but if there's any sound of music that makes me think of rain, it's all in this song.
We Talk To The Lord: Fun song, but not my top favorite. As WWMT's producer Zarc Porter said..."On another occasion I remember putting down this weird jazz/swing thing and we had always wanted to do a track about prayer so we wrote `We Talk To The Lord' over it. The sound of the track was a bit comedy so Andy did these tongue in cheek raps for the verses and we had the dancers doing a routine with Kenny Everett style huge hands on stage. It was very memorable, but as with any novelty track they don't last that long before they turn to cheese!"...I have to agree with the thing about turning to cheese. My advise about this song is just this: don't listen to it too much or it WILL turn to cheese.
Re.Revival: VERY awesome song. The only vocal in this song is an old recording of a man named Duncan Campbell talking about God's incredible move in the Scottish Hebredian islands that had happened in about 1949, and the whole message was amazing. Here's some more of what Zarc Porter had to say about it..."We were trying to get hold of a recording of Duncan Campbell who was the evangelist involved with the Hebridean revival of the late 1940s. I remember saying to Andy, I hope it sounds characterful and interesting thinking we could possibly sample it and put it in a track. Sure enough when it arrived, his voice was definitely a bit unusual but it also had this incredible anointing about it. Just hearing a first hand account of what happened was gripping and incredibly inspiring. I immediately chopped it up into sections and put some beats behind it. That became the track `Re:Revival'."...The sound effects in the song are great, sounding a bit like "Revolution" in some places. Sorry to be a bit out of place, but you've gotta love that Scottish accent!
Sweet Salvation: Great song! Very good sounds. Highly recommended.
Nobody Knows: A little hard to get used to at first. It's a little slower than the others. The sound is a bit hypnotic until the chorus comes, than it gets nice. Mark Pennels sounds great when he's singing the chorus. Very nice vocals. Great sound to the song. If the frantic dance beats drive you crazy, this should be easier on you.
We Don't Get What We Deserve: Not really my song. If there's one WWMT song I don't like very much, it's this one. The message is good, but the overall sound of the song is kind of weird. Not recommended.
I'll Always Believe In You: Very nice song. Great lyrics from beginning to end.
There Is A Green Hill: Beautiful! The guys do awesome on the vocals again. Again, here's some more of what Zarc Porter has to say..."As was to become the custom with all Tribe albums, we once again wanted a slow song to end the set with. Mark and myself were at a party opposite our church one day and as we needed this song, we decided to pop over to the church and see if we could write something. As I sat down at the piano I noticed that the music book on the stand had been left open to the hymn "There Is A Green Hill". I began doodling some chords and we started to sing a tune using those words and within a few minutes it had all just slotted together. That song later became our biggest US CCM radio hit."
Remixes (Revolution, Sweet Salvation, and Re.Revival): Not as good as the originals.
Well, the only reason I gave this CD a 4.5 is because of the song We Don't Get What We Deserve, and because of the remixes. Otherwise, this is an awesome CD and it's always been one of my favorites! I was reading that it was recently voted either one of the top 5 or top 10 best Christian albums ever made. Thanks for reading!
These guys rock for Christ and it shows!.......1999-07-11
The album "We Don't Get What We Deserve" by the World Wide Message Tribe is so awesome! They clearly say that they are on fire for Christ and that He has really made a difference in each of their lives. When I am in a grouchy mood, I put in their CD and my mood quickly changes. Their music is also great for dancing!! Rock on WWMT!!
Awesome music, inspired lyrics . . . a must.......1999-03-11
If you are looking for a new way to worship and sing to the Lord, you definitely have to check out WWMT's CD. It's full of well-blended beats and moving lyrics without the syrupy sound that a lot of Christian music contains. The music is high energy, with definite hip hop and dance rap influences . . . and it doesn't compromise. I was reminded of C+C Music Factory, and Mortal's "Pura" recording. If you are tired of same old in worship music, give WWMT a try . . . they will rock your world.
