Great cd.......2006-05-16

I bought this cd soon after becoming a Christian.I enjoyed listening to the other Hillsong Cd's so i got this one as well to build my collection.You get to hear the songs from time to time as alot of churches do sing the Hillsong songs as well.They certainly are a fast growing church,and the music itself is exciting.You have the songs that you can sing to as well as the slow spiritual songs.Great mixture here,but all the Hillsong Cd's are good.This one was recorded in 1997.

darlene's album/s is very annointed! i myself is collecting all there albums including their VCD! wow! God has realy blessed the music ministry of their church! i wish i could visit australia soon and sing with them for the LOrd! God bless... :)

if you think the cd/cassette was good, the video is really awesome. Hillsongs usually record an album with fourteen cuts but the 14th song was not included on the cd or cassette. Shadow Of Your Wings is another highlight on the album. It was sung by Darlene and their acoustic guitarist Reuben Morgan and was penned also by Morgan. The song has so much acoustic touch to it because David Moyse(their lead guitar player) and another guitar player together with Morgan went up front and played acoustic. Darlene was standing on the center while Morgan and the other guitar players sat on a stool. here is the lyric...

(reuben's part) My spirit rest in You alone/ You're all i know/ Embrace and touch me like a child/ I'm safe in You
Chorus: You're my shelter through it all/ You're my refuge and my strength/ Lord i hide in the Shadow of Your wings
(Darlene's part) My Lord You're faithful/ You supply all good things/ You know completely all my thoughts/ my deepest fear
and the song goes on for about 8 minutes. the next song was Glory to the King which was another all-acoustic song.

"All Things Are Possible" is an abundant praise and worship experience. Hillsongs Australia delivers the same conventional live service with a little bit funky praise and deep worship. The congregation is great. The worship leaders are remarkable which is quite different because a woman dominates the crowd, the adorable lead singer Darlene Zschech.

All tracks are wonderful except for the instrumental "Before The Throne". Among the 14 tracks, the following 13 songs are my favorites and plus factors (in order):

1st "Love You So Much" - What a great worship song! An easy song to sing - what requires is a sincere heart. An overwhelming experience that keeps your soul longing for more. An everybody's favorite!

2nd "All Things Are Possible" - Great opening song - also deserves to be the carrier song of the album. Join this high-energy song that achieved exhilarating reply from the audience. Truly, there is no other joy than praising God and knowing that He is sufficient.

3rd "So You Would Come" - This meditating song speaks about God's great love. A humble invitation to "Come to the Father...Though your gift is small'. Moving...Darlene's best!

4th "In Your Hands" - "So close I believe You're holding me now" - touching words that assures us that we are safe in His comfort...never letting us go. Remarkably inspiring! Never fail to lift up my soul.

5th "Glory To The King" - This song started from a simple guitar together with Darlene's soft voice that ended into a blessing experience. It makes me humble to hear the words "You're a father to the fatherless" - yes, all glory to you dear Father.

6th "People Get Free" - Awesome funky piece. Darlene's striking voice leads the people into a freedom of pleasing God through continuous dance and praise.

7th "Your Love" - I love this simple meditating song. With words "Your love is better than life" - it's so sweet to feel Jesus' love.

8th "The Love Of God Can Do" - Hearing this song can't help me on clapping my hands. Truly, God's love can do many wonders in our lives. For me, it always makes me smile.

9th "I Know It" - It's nice to proclaim how the Lord changed us...freed us - if you haven't known it yet, you'd better be. Executed in a groovy fashion...excellent!

10th "Can't Stop Talking" - Amazingly, the love that we encountered can't help us from sharing it to others. Trumpet-filled and full of fun!

Plus factors:

11th "I Live To Know You" - May this be our ultimate passion - to breath in desire of knowing our Savior deeper. An inspiring worship number.

12th "Lord Of All" - This long adoration song led by a male vocalist highlights our exaltation to the supreme One - the greatest among everything in life.

13th "Shelter House" - Keeping ourselves in the His covering presence brings power...and our hearts spirit-filled. Sets another groovy tune.

In general, this a magnificent album...one of a kind! Very effective in the praise and worship program. To the Hillsongs Ministries, keep on producing powerful God-centered songs. Your music is very much adored here in the Philippines. Truly, you are a blessing!

Uplifting music.......2005-05-26

I have had the original Praise Walk series for many years and have enjoyed them. This Praise Walk tape is just as good as the original tapes. My one complaint would be that it does not indicate how many beats per minute and the total time. It is longer than the original tapes but worth the extra minutes in worship and walking. The songs are uplifing. During walks without the tapes, I find myself worrying about what I should be doing back at home, etc. With the tapes, my mind is free to reflect on all the good things in my life and my world. I return home physically, mentally, and spiritully uplifted. I hope they continue producing these wonderful tapes.

This is an excellent CD by the former member of the rock group America. Originally released in 1984, the title track was a big CCM hit. Other strong songs include Redeemer, Brotherly Love, and the classic Power and Glory. Highly recommended if you enjoy CCM or are a fan of America.

For the Ages!.......2006-10-14

First of all, I always loved America and thought that Dan Peek's voice and melodies were out of this world. Songs like "Lonely People", "Glad to See You", "Old Virginia", etc. There are many songs during his tenure with America that are just plain beautiful without saying that the other two members were shabby. They also had a tasty repertoire of songs, but I always thought that Dan Peek had some awesome songs! How about "Don't Cross the River", WoW! They still sound as good today as they did in the past. I am not saying that everything he wrote was awesome but surely enjoyed his work throughout his stay with America. Funny, but when I went to AMG to check them out it seems the critics were not too partial to America's body of work. Too simplistic? Too melodious? I'll never know. I expected to see at least four (4) stars for some of their efforts but lo and behold, I think 3 was the max they received. That is fine, America with "Ventura Highway", "Sandman", "Tin Man", "Sister Golden Hair Surprise?" is that the name?, anywhoo, some of these songs go all the way to the start of the American Dream for me. What voices!
When I heard that Dan Peek had left America I was somewhat saddened but not really surprised! I could tell by his lyrics that he was not very happy with the fast lane of those days. When I heard he had released a Christian Album I immediately bought it at a local christian store in Costa Mesa, California. I am talking about 20 years? When I heard "All Things Are Possible" I loved it from the start. Yes, the songs were short and simple but something about the cassette (that was the format available at the time and it did not last very long, mind you) that brought the best in me. It was my first official christian album I had ever bought and in those days the christian music business was in its infancy. It kind of meant that patrons of christian music were devoted christians. I was not. I was a party monster more part of the crazy lifestyle Los Angeles and neighbouring Orange County had to offer than the limited and devoted lifestyle christians were known for. Party here, fast lane there, it did get old with time and regrets and misfortunes were all part of the package together with the loudest concerts and good times I probably will ever know. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, sort of speak. Dan Peek's "All Things Are Possible" have some songs in it that I can't still forget and that is saying a lot for a release so many years old. The title "All Things Are Possible" is just a beautiful song, the next song following "Divine Lady" is such a sweet tune, following with "Forgive me, Forgive you" (some of these long nights always led to serious regrets and a desire to have a life of health and spiritual light and this song spoke of the need to be forgiven but most important to be able to forgive, which is essential if one hopes to reach higher grounds in the spiritual realm"). I better slow down, I am getting too preachy and that is not my intention. There are many songs that make this album a 5 star album for me. Yes, I admit I did not like a couple as much as I did the others, but overall this is one album I am going to buy today for the good memories it delivers. What a voice, how about "Be a lighthouse for me and my ship lost in the sea, guide me to the safe harbor in your arms..." Beauty! Also, in the album there is a song he kind of dedicates to his former bandmates and I think is in response to a song the Blond Guy in America had sung about him by the name of "I don't believe in miracles" (a tasty song, by the way) and he replied with this one, something about "I told you before that I would take no more, you thought I was yours but now you know for sure, and that's the reason why I had to say goodbye" or something to that effect. This is the album I love the most of his Christian efforts, the ones that followed maybe one song or two, he had lost the magic touch. He never seemed to regain the touch he had with his best work with America or the quality of "All Things Are Possible", but he surely deserves 5 stars for this one. Short songs filled with inspiration and yes, Jesus his motivating force but a masterpiece to me never the less. Kind of like Bob Dylan when he went the same route and wrote some awesome songs in "Slow Train Coming" and "Shot of Love", specially and I do not know in which of his christian albums it was in, the song "Every Grain of Sand". Dylan and Peek are totally different but they both had the same inspiration during that period and some of these songs they made are so good it is not even funny. If you get a chance google the lyrics for "Every Grain of Sand" by Bob Dylan and believe me, this one is a very rare jewel you will find. Dan Peek's "All Things Are Possible" is a Beauty. 5 stars then and 5 stars now!

An Old Friend.......2006-10-04

I first heard All Things Possible right after its release in 1984. It was the first christian music I had ever purchased and every song, but especially the title song, inspired me to buy more. The album broke barriers for other christian musicians to "crossover" to other music genres and was a pioneer, as was Dan, for breaking away from America and making this album. Its a keeper and timeless for those of us who remember the early days of contemporary christian music.

Clarence Fountain goes solo!.......2003-05-19

On this cd Clarence Fountain the lead singer of The Five Blind Boys of Alabama goes solo, sings without the regular backing of his fellow members and does that quite well. Therefore this is not a quartet like music and does not have the fast swing that we've sometimes heard from the Five blind boys. Rather this music is slower, very bluesy at times which fits Mr. Fountain's voice very well.

During his career, Fountain left his group twice but returned each time. He first left in 1969 and toured as a solo act until he returned to the group in 1975. I assume that these recordings are from that period of time.

But there is something very strange here. This cd is issued by The Jewel Records, Gospel series and has excactly the same songs on it as on the cd issued by the same company under the name "Clarence Fountain, Golden Moments in Gospel". Only the names of many songs have been changed, but these are exactly the same recordings!

So the song "I want to go" on this cd becomes "Where Jesus is" on Golden Moments. "All things are possible" on this cd becomes "Only believe", "Shackled by a heavy burden" becomes "He touched me" etc.etc.

So if you'd like to get these precious recordings, which I highly recommend if you like bluesy, soulful gospel, you actually have two titles to choose from!

Pick the better quality and lower price and enjoy!

I saw the five blind boys of alabama in '96 at the philly folk fest. They were awsome, granite you won't get the same feeling listening to this cd, but it brings back so many wonderful feelings. the cd is exellent my 1 month old daughter loves the cd and so do I!

This was Dan's first solo effort after leaving the group America. Released in 1979 it was a huge hit on Christian and Adult Contemporary stations, and even crossed over onto the Pop charts. The title song was a number 1 Christian hit and stayed in the AC top ten for more than 30 weeks. The album was nominated for a Grammy. Other strong tracks include One Way, Love Was Just Another Word (which features his former America band mates), and I Have To Say Goodbye. Despite being his most commercially successful release, I thought that this was actually one of his weaker albums. Not that this is a bad album, it is good, but I found his later releases to be better. Hopefully the rest of his solo material will be released in the near future.

I found this album to be truly uplifting. George Foreman has touched a chord and the use of the different performers, along with George's excellent voice, is outstanding. This album will make a difference for many who buy it. I consider it to be excellent!

This is a great cd in words, horrible in singing. This guy's like Paul McCartney. His painting a bunch of buckets of paint on a wall. This guy's music is a bunch of noise mixed into this thing that makes rap sound like gospel music. He stinks at boxing, cooking (just look at the guy), and everything else! This is a failiure of a sellout. If you think this is the chef of all time, get this cd.
