The sophomore project from a now four member band completely and totally delivers, from the wonderful instrumental beginning all the way to the eerie finale, "The Funeral Song" It is far from what you would expect from a Christian band. Send the Beggar is not all "hallelujahs" and "amens". They bring the Christian faith into a very real world full of pains, doubts and lusts. Bentley's liquid vocals sing what sounds like poetry throughout this project. The music is a huge leap from their first self titled release, which could lead one to believe that they either miraculously grew or got a better producer. A larger label would be foolish not to try to pick them up. Personally my favorite track would be the emotionally intense "Wrestling with God". The song deals with the loss of a loved one and not understanding why God allows something like this to happen. At first the song starts in a light happy manner and turns touching. If you have ever lost someone close to you, this song could bring you to tears. Like any CD, there are songs that you will and wont like but the positive definitely outweighs the negative in this case. Other tracks worth mentioning are "Leaving Jesus", the poppy "Another Letter" and the Radiohead-esque "knot". Here's hoping we will hear another project from these guys in the near future.
