Classic Teddy P.......2001-07-30

I bought this CD by mistake when I was looking for one of Teddy Pendergrass' greatest hits collections. Although I do enjoy live recordings, I was looking for a collection of studio recordings that day. Nonetheless, I was not disappointed with this purchase. As a child of the seventies with a mother who adored this man and purchased every record he ever made, I am no stranger this music. I even remember hearing about his sensual ladies only concerts.

Teddy Pendergrass is definitely a legend and this CD captured him at the pinnacle of his career playing before his hometown crowd. You have all the great hits "Life is a Song Worth Singing," "When Somebody Loves You Back," "Close the Door," and of course his signature song "Turn off the Lights."

His style is inimitable and he had a way with a song that just sent chills up your spine. Between his wonderful voice and his commanding physical presence, Teddy P always had a captive audience. This CD is a wonderful tribute to a talented artist. This man is an original, and I love his work.

It took me a while to find this CD. When I did buy it, I could not stop playing it. Such a strong commanding voice. WHen he said Turn off the Light, then you did it, with a quickness. There is no one out there today who can sing like this man. Singing about Love and spiritual meaning. Boy, if I was old enough back then to go to a concert, which I was, but no one would take me, I would have been on that stage so fast if I had the chance. Thank you Teddy for your voice. You are one of the best, and I mean BEST R&B singers in the WORLD!!!

Teddy Pendergrass was in the Zone on this set.he was A Vocalists Vocalist during this Time period.not only could he sing on Record but he was able to Sound Equally Strong Live.that's something Lost on Todays Vocalists.Teddy is a True Pro&THe Band sounds Good as well.

Here we present Teddy's double LP live album (now on one CD, and never before issued in the UK), recorded in Philadelphia in 1978 and Los Angeles in 1979, which also features an exclusive 5 minute interview, and three studio cuts (two of which charted as singles). The live sets include his own biggest numbers performed before an adoring (predominantly) female crowd, as well as a medley of his hits with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes. The LA sequence arranges his bedroom numbers in exactly the right order! TP, issued in 1980, was Teddy's fourth studio album and his fourth million seller. It contains two big hit singles, 'Can't We Try', and the signature song, 'Love TKO', as well as songs by Womack & Womack and Ashford & Simpson. Edsel. 2005.

This is a awsome live Eric Stone CD! If you like Jimmy Buffet you'll love this guy. He really brings the sounds of the sea's home. I couldn't inmagine going out on my boat without this CD and all his others.

Good mix of cover tunes from Sail America Boat Show gigs.......2005-05-11

I enjoyed Eric's rendition of Bob Marley. This CD is alotta cover tunes that people request at the Boat Shows. Truthfully, I believe Eric's talent is his superior songwriting ability and smooth vocals. There's always something in his songs that someone can relate to... places, events, drinks and everyday life experiences.... he has a knack of putting it all into words. I have all the CDs but my favorites are Songs For Sail, Legend of the Lost Soul, and the newest one Longboards and Short Stories. Great variety, you can't go wrong.

Good...But Not His Best.......2004-04-21

Eric Stone is a great artist. I love his past albums. I must say i was a little dissapointed with this release. Not that is bad but the prduction is a bit off and it doesnt have the feel of a live album- nor is it of the quality of his previous recordings. He uses a drum machine and other computerised instruments on this album which is very noticeable. The songs are good but it could have been a lot better. Do check out his previous albums first -they are outstanding. I am looking forward to his next teleases.

This CD, released just this year, is filled to the brim with the glorious sound of Nat's voice.While it's sound is not of a studio, it's certainly good enough for a great listen. To hear Nat sing SEVEN minute medleys, two of them, which include songs like "Hi-Lilli-Hi-Lo," "There's a Lull in My Life", "Mona Lisa", "Unforgettable" etc. Half of the CD is recorded from the Riverside Inn in Fresno, California from 1963. There is a THREE minute Rheingold Beer commercial (why can't we have commercials like this today??!!)Then there's a rare 1962 New York live radio broadcast. The songs here are wonderful, his voice tops, and you forget what a masculine speaking voice he had. Many people shell out over 300 dollars for the out of print "Cole at the Sands" on Ebay. There is twice the music here, and certainly a more clearly defined representation of the legend in concert. Also filled with lots of Cole's jazz piano, and he works wonders with "Where or When." A must have for any fan of Nathanial Cole!! A joy from start to finish!!

Album Description

From the Icy Coast offers a refreshing new sound from a saturated "nu-metal" scene. Their album "End of the Line" is a great beginning, and the debut effort from these up and comers. It starts off with an ambient, downbeat feel, but quickly builds into "Fall Awake", which could be described with the two words; "haunted" and "heavy". It has the kind of radio hooks that will get this band noticed. Moving on to "Frequency", this is a shining example of their work, and easily one of my favorites. Subdued vocals, guitar laced synth work, and a driving, minimal beat around which the rest of the arrangement can wrap itself with ease. End of the Line quickly begins to simmer until the speakers are sizzling with a big atmospheric rock vibe that has commercial radio breakthrough seemingly written into all aspects of their work. Other highlights include "When You Have Wings", "Just Like You", and "Wraith". Keep your eye to the North. From the "Icy Coast" comes some great music.

These guys are actually good at what they do, but they do what a lot of other bands have done. If you want something new and exciting, go else where. If you are looking to get a cd from another band in the NIN veign, you will be pleased with this. Really, I would think they were good if they were original. Probably they will end up on a major just because they fit so well in a mold.

Great Band Nobody Has Heard About YET.......2003-05-11

Some bands play music where all the songs sound the same.
Some bands play music where one guy could stop playing his instrument and you could never tell the difference.
Some bands sound like they never practiced together before.
Some bands sound like somebody stepped on a cat's tail.

But not From the Icy Coast. Having listened to both "End of the Line" and heard them live; none of the above descriptions could ever be used to describe this group. Not sure if they recorded this album before they cut one of the band members out of the picture, but the current set of four play very smoothly together and are definitely worth seeing live. Like another reviewer, I struggle to compare this band's sound to another, but at the same time, this is good because it allows them to distinguish themselves at a time when a lot of music sounds the same.

My personal favorite on this album is "Wraith". The tune is catchy, has a good vibe to it, sounds smooth, and is playable over and over without it becoming tired. But that's not the only good song on this album, also try "Frequency" and "When You Have Wings"

All in all, check out this CD or if you have a chance to catch them live, do so before they become that great band that everybody has heard about so you can say "yeah I saw them before they made it big..." Or the best reason to check them out, cause it's good music, you will like it.

Hard driving music..........2003-02-28

Holy cow! Where have these guys been, because they sound like a seasoned band with a tighter sound then most of the music being played on the radio today. I can't think of too many people to compare them to, which is a good thing, but one example might be Filter - but with a better singer.

The last track makes it worth every penny!!!.......2001-05-21

This is a compalation of Cathedrals songs performed live. Most of these songs can be found on other Cathedral C.D.s but this is the best of the best. The very last track is approx six minutes of George and Glenn talking live on stage. This track makes the whole C.D. worth while, even if you have all the other Cathedral C.D.s I promise you wanted be dissapointed by this one. A must for all Cathedral fans.

String quartet versions exelled such beautiful performance! After reviewing Tupac Shakur's original albums, I decided to check out the string quartet. To be honest, Tupac's work shows such strong, beautiful meanings of his life while the string version plays the beauty of many instruments dedicating to Tupac's work and his music. For those who love rap and a side of classical listening, this is one collection you can't pass up to!
