Customer Reviews:
The best album ever made, period........2007-05-22
I'm speechless. I've always found Lil Wayne by far the best of the 235 people that put Lil in front of their name. He's the biggest of the Lil. Chew on that for a minute. I never realized that he was birdman's dad. By the title of the album being like father, like son, I can only assume Lil Wayne is birdman's dad. That is awesome. I knew Little Wayne was trill, but to make a kid when he was like 4 is just off the hook.
Where do you start with the music on this thing. There is some cussing, some beats and lyrics about money. Try finding that on another rap album out today. If you do, you'll waste a lot of time because other rappers are too busy talking about macro economics and 3rd world debt relief. Birdguy and Little Wayne talk about what is real and I like that. I went out Friday night and we were bumpin some Tiny Wayne on the sound system with our pet kangaroo, Tibblies, in the back seat. You roll strong when you roll with a roo. We spent the night drinking 64's of Hurrican Malt liquor, which is my favorite when I want to get my swerve on. I ended arguing with some woman about whether Nelson Mandela or Lil Wayne have had more impact on the world. Mandela is cool and all, but could he record a track like, "You ain't know"? I'll answer that for you, no he couldn't. He would probably try to use actual words and grammar and ruin it. Leave the block rockin to Birddude and Teenie Wayne.
great album.......2007-05-16
lil wayne is the greatest rapper alive and i dont give a crap what nobody saids so is juelzsantana jim jones snoop dogg ti birdman and other i forgot to mention they are great rapper and so is the blacxkeyedpeas bump shop boys and the g-unit crew is okay
What are all of you talking about! This Album sucks!.......2007-05-05
This album is Horrible. The Diry South is DESTROYING hip hop. Im glad I only "Bought" this cd. I hate the dirty south rap. All of the dirty south rappers are the same. They all rap about they're stupid Platinum teeth, beamers with the rims that are really big and look stupid (they think it looks gangsta) . There is no skill in any of that dirty south rap. They keep repeating themselves the whole time. I love hip hop/Rap but The Dirty South is Destroying it. I wish we could bring back the old stuff like-
HOuse OF Pain
Cypress Hill
Funkdoobiest
Lords of the underground
Wu tang
Tupac
Biggie
The Pharcyde
NWA
Public Enemy
and Alot More.
I "Bought" this album because i figured why not, its a free album. I tried to listen to it and like it but i couldnt. The beats SUck and the lyrics Suck. PERIOD. Dont buy. The best move would be to keep the dirty south rappers out of the Rap game. Period!
Man, why did I buy this album for?.......2007-01-23
I'm so sorry that I bought this album. Of course, the hit single "stuntin like my daddy" was jammin!! But, I thought I could get more into the rest of the album. I just could not do it. I will admit though. I do like Birdman's swagger. If Lil wayne could use more of his own rhymes instead of others, then he would be better. I got tired of hearing lil wayne's annoying delivery on a lot of the songs. I got Birdman's last album and I liked more songs on that one than this one. Save your money and buy something better, like that Trae's Restless album. Now, that's much better.
WHAT'S THAT S---T ????.......2007-01-07
you can't say dis is rap nor hip-hop just because dis album sucks...deez beats are weaker than my vomit and the lyrix..BLEAH!!!!!...dirty south is the ruin of hip-hop, no doubt. let's go back in the days of '94 when hiph-op was real!!!

Following hot on the heels of their enormously successful collaboration for The Lion King, Elton John and Tim Rice have once again culled their talents to create another Disney contemporary musical, based this time on Verdi's opera Aida. The album, recorded by some of the biggest talents of pop, country, and R&B, features songs from the stage show, which recounts the well-known tale of a love triangle further complicated by slavery, royalty, and the armed forces. John duets to great effect with country crooner LeAnn Rimes, the enchanting Janet Jackson, and the lovely Lulu of To Sir with Love fame. Lush and lively, the soundtrack hits a hoot of a (decidedly not highbrow) high point with the infectious pop of the Spice Girls warbling the merits of undergarments on "My Strongest Suit" ("Always wear underwear/Anytime, anywhere"). Lenny Kravitz funks things up with "Like Father Like Son." Shania Twain's husky emoting makes a fine pop ballad of the brief "Amneris' Letter." "Not Me" chronicles the goodness of love as Boyz II Men coo dreamily, their harmonies nestling into John's sumptuous score. --Paige La Grone

Product arrived in a timely manner in new condition, still wrapped in plastic. Thank you.
Loved it!!!.......2006-09-07
I'm so impressed with this album for several different reasons.
3) It's Elton John
2) I loved all but two of the songs!
1) I usually hate the original broadway cast albums and movie soundtracks. They don't do the songs justice. They usually have chopped up versions of the songs and include unnecessary dialouge.
I'd love to see every musical (broadway or movie) done this way!
I appreciate the b'way versions, but I don't want to listen to them in my car...
good variety and feeling.......2004-06-24
This is a very good CD. "Written in the Stars" is an extremely emotional song, and it is my favorite on the album. I would like to see the show on Broadway, but I have to say I don't think it can be too much better than this CD
Sour Concepts.......2003-06-29
It takes so much to try to get a musical to make its way upon Broadway. Sometimes you really need to understand how to make it really happen within the passion of the storytelling music. In that case with Elton John, he nearly seemed to make it with Aida. While the music for Broadway always seems to have at least something completely mgaical and a dash of power in it. Sometimes, you really need to understand it, to make it happen, and others don't see it from the start. Although Elton John has had great music for years, at least once in a era, something goes a little flat.
The 1999 Aida, was not a studio album from Elton, but a preview from what was happen on Broadway. The various artists record contains so many different artists in the record including Tina Turner, Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, and the upcoming Heather Headley. Before Heather made it as a singer, she made it right here in Aida, on this record. The only decent song that was a hit was Written In The Stars, which Elton performed with Leann Rimes. The song was also the last song Elton cracked Billboard's Top 40. Still, there really wasn't a lot of enjoyment within most of the record, and it fell into a sleeper. Considering that Elton is already planning on making another smash musical on Broadway, hopefully he'll do better with the concept record.
When it does come to making it on Broadway, it isn't really anything exciting, unless it truly is a smash, and Aida is a smash on Broadway, just not the record. Still, if you're a die hard fan of Aida, buy this record. Otherwise, it could be a hitless miss.
Living Elaborate Lives..........2002-11-02
Aida was Elton John and Tim Rice's baby, providing a concept soundtrack album before even setting the stage on fire, the tracks are generally sweeping show ballads.
Elton teams up with several lovely and talented ladies, in LeAnn Rimes, Janet Jackson, and Lulu. "Written In The Stars" could be a vocal gladiator battle, the way LeAnn and Elton sing it. Janet and Lulu prove themselves as more mellow duet partners.
Kelly Price makes "The Gods Love Nubia" her own, the song is tied up in soul with her voice being smooth as silk. The far too short "Amneris' Letter" shows off Shania Twain's voice to perfection also. Pop culture phenomenon the Spice Girls turn "My Strongest Suit" into the most obvious pop stomper of this set. Another strong point is Heather Headley's solo "Elaborate Lives". A rich ballad, Headley recently embarked on an R&B singing career with the track "He Is". The legendary Tina Turner provides a fiery perfomance, her track being the powerful "Easy As Life" with Angelique Kidjo.
Duds are also present, Sting and Dru Hill's tracks are admitted stinkers. James Taylor, Boyz II Men, Sherie Scott, and Lenny Kravitz also deliver perfomances on the album. This album is well put together, with strong tunes and a short-list of superstars presenting them. A fun buy.

4.5 stars.......2007-03-02
Yeah this album's a lot better than I expected. Wayne's been crankin' em out so fast lately, you would think he'd be gettin' sloppy....but "Like Father, Like Son" doesn't disappoint. Nice production, weezy's signature word play, check it out
Hotter Than A Firecracker!!.......2006-11-04
This is the hottest cd going. The lyrics are super tight and even Birdman is rappin' pretty decent. Lil Wayne has arrived. He is definitely one of the top three rappers out there. If you want to hear great lyrics and hot beats, cop this quick but caution to the buyer: Wear mittens because this cd is HOT!!
Remember the old cashmoney days?.......2006-11-03
Really 4.5 stars. Do you remember the days of ol' where juve was on fire turk was out of jail and lil wayne was walking in BG's shows? If your a old cashmoney fan...I mean when they had the gold chains and 400 deegreez was just coming out...you will love this CD....Now when Weezy says he's the best rapper alive your average rap fan will not understand what he's saying. for the amateurs dig through the past cashmoney albums and see how he has progressed to become what he is now, then tell me he cant be considered at least in the top 3. And most of all Weezy has yet to sell out and resort to pop music like to many supposed to be gangsta rappers (50 cent). Lyrically Weezy can't be touched. "the first time I got high I had 2 "O"'s like Ohio"...Just a taste of what you'll get if you but this album. That early no limit, early cashmoney, early ghetto boys, southern, slow, heavy bass havin', gangsta rap. Truly a thing of beauty...if you look at it from a hip hop point of view.
On fire once again.......2006-11-02
The Birdman and Lil Wayne did it again. They give it to you real in this album. Lil Wayne spits fire on all the tracks just like usual. Pick this album up and you will not be disappointed. Keep thuggin in the N.O. and Baton Rouge!

Customer Reviews:
The rush is back.......2002-12-30
Lalo Schifrin, after his success with the first Rush Hour film, returns again to score the sequel. I gave the first score 5 stars and this one 4 because the first one had the better music, but this one sounds much, much better. The first one contained more of guitars and synths and things of that nature with an orchestra. This one contains primarily a symphony orchestra which makes it sound so much better. The main theme is back, this time in a much more orchestral manner with Asian style percussion and woodwinds. "Out of the Way" is an exciting action cue containing great brass punches and thrilling string lines. "Mu Shu Parlor" contains Schifrin's Chinese like music that he used in the first film. "Parlor Fight" contains some meaty brass, Asian type woodwinds, and powerful percussion. "Isabella" contains a sultry love theme and "Nevada Mood" utilizes a jazz ensemble. "The Cosmo Is Las Vegas" contains big band type music along with pounding drums in a Chinese like fashion. The last 3 tracks contain some good action music. 2 tracks in the middle, "Lil' Darlin" and "Shiny Stockings" could have been left out because they do not really fit well into the music, except maybe "Nevada Mood". The orchestra does a nice job doing the music and i'm looking forward to Schifrin's work on Rush Hour 3 (if there is one, which I hope there is).
Some of the best film music around.......2001-10-06
Perhaps the most intriguing part about this amazing music is the great difference from the first movie in the series. I found that this music was even better, considering Schifrin used a Symphony Orchestra instead of an orchestra with guitars and other fancy stuff. The music is outstanding; it simply depicts the movie so well behind the hilarious actions and remarks of the film's two main actors. The main theme is outstanding, especially the opening part of the movie. When such a great theme is used and changed in the movie according to the given mood, there is a successful film score. It blows my mind how such beautiful orchestral music can peacefully exist with the comedic, changing plot of the movie, where there are many other musical features as well. The excitement of the score is its truly best feature; the first movement takes you into Hong Kong, making the movie sound like a journey and such. This, along with the score to the original Rush Hour, are fabulous works and need to be bought by anyone who simply loved the movie or that loves new and interesting film music!
