Customer Reviews:
ok but a bit old.......2007-03-20
I liked this but the sounds are a bit old now... I like the more energetic stuff coming from Europe currently -- for example EURO CLUB HITS VOL. 1 which is on iTunes and Rhapsody and etc.
This is your night... dancing until the morning light..........2007-03-12
This CD is awesome! I love it! It makes you want to dance all night!
THE BEST!.......2005-03-08
This awesome CD reminds me of my senior year of high school at the American School of the Hague in the Netherlands. Weekends were spent dancing my butt off to these awesome songs, I miss eurotechno, and eurodance! To anyone who loves to dance this is a must, not to mention this CD will have you moving at the gym!
An ok dance CD.......2003-11-30
This is an ok dance CD. Only about 4 good dance tracks worth the listen such as "Who Do U Love" - Deborah Cox, "Be My Lover" - La Bouche feat. Melanie Thornton, "Dreamer" - Livin' Joy, "Beautiful Life" - Ace of Base. The rest is basically pretty boring. Not a great dance CD, but still an ok one. Get this only if you like most of the tracks and artists on this dance compilation album.
I MISS THIS TIME..........2003-03-11

Customer Reviews:
Not so Jazzy. Dissapointed........2007-05-25
After quite a while the time was right for me to get the whole box set after a colleague led me to this music series when he showed me Hidden Beach's "Electric Relaxation" (one of the songs included in this box set).
Man, I should have listened to the previews on this website...
By looking at the track listing and taking "Electric Relaxation" as the lead example I felt this would be my kind of "Jazzy take on Hip-Hop/R&B", I came home and prepared myself to be dazzled by the sounds of not one BUT FOUR discs!
You realize the musicianship on the set and production quality is very good as you delve into each song but right from the first track ("Crush On You") you also find that you are headed the wrong direction (if you were looking for a smoother, jazzier type of sound). You are encountered by music which is sometimes so close to the original song that you wonder if you picked up the right product.
The first few bars of each track usually are very Hip-Hop driven with random scratching, heavy kicks, and overall, a sound way too strong for what is expected of a smoother Jazz collection. Then the vocals come in, almost straight from the original song and carefully redone as if to remind the listener ones again: "You are listening to a remake of 'One More Chance'..." WHY?! WHYYYYY?!
It would have been so pleasing to see this music redone in an "all-out" Jazz type of flava but it seems that somewhere in the creation process there was a need to R&B-it.
Again, there is good music in this CD set but its more R&B than it is Jazz. If you are looking for something truly smooth, jazzy and relaxed, something that you can groove to on your way back from work or while sipping a cold drink at home with your lady I don't think you will find it here.
Be sure to listen to preview samples before you buy.
In addition to this set I picked up a CD called "Smooth urban Grooves" by Soul Providers. It was more like what I wanted.
Amazon shipped the product quickly as described. Happy with the transaction.
Ultimate Unwrapped. Unbelievable Collection.......2006-11-29
If you are not familiar with the Unwrapped series, you need to grab this box set. I had Volume 1 and I picked up this box set to hear the other volumes. This is a great collection for all music lovers -- whether you like jazz or hip hop or just great music. I could listen to this type of groove all day.
Excellent gift for all my friends and family.......2006-11-28
I recently bought a few box sets for myself and for all of my friends who are music fans. This box set brings the combination of the hip hop beats that I love with the instrumentation of Jazz which you just can't beat! Where else can you get a 4 cd's of straight hit music! Also, the way it is mixed, you can play all of the discs all the way though and it sounds like you have a DJ at your house spinning for you! I actually used it at a party that my friend was having the other day. If you live in the ATL, you probably heard about this on V103. A friend of mine heard it there blowing up. A definite must have for you an anyone you care about who loves music.
A Great Xmas Gift!!!.......2006-11-22
Hey Unwrapped Fans:
I just picked up the Unwrapped box set today and its a must have for all of the fans of the series. I like the way Hidden Beach re- sequenced the album and so it is not just like having all four volumes of the previous cds. In addition, they added some videos and have a little write up on each song and as usual Steve McKeever has his interesting liner notes that go over some of the history of the project. A Must have for any Unwrapped fan, new or old....

Customer Reviews:
The best Ultimate Dance Party!.......2001-04-11
Sure, the mixing isn't the best, and the songs are older, but this compilation can still start a party easily. The whole album is upbeat and has many great hits. The album starts out with a lot of dance pop classics. There is Gina G's Ooh Ahh (Just A Little Bit), La Bouche's Sweet Dreams, Crystal Water's 100% Pure Love and the huge hit Jellyhead by Crush. Toni Braxton's huge ballad Un Break My Heart gets a upbeat remix by two of today's biggest remixers: Soul Solution and Hex Hector. The result is stunning, and Toni's vocals work perfectly with the beats. Whitney Houston covers Annie Lennox's Step By Step, which leads into the song Insomnia, which has kind of a futuristic feel to it. Two of the next songs, Mo Money Mo Problems and the outstanding Things Just Ain't The Same are very hip-hop/R&B styled and show the future of Ultimate Dance Party compilations, as this was the last one that was mostly dance. With just a few songs left, they manage to pull together some awesome tracks, including the childish but fun The Child Inside and Mark Morrison's upbeat and bouncy Return Of The Mack. And of course no dance compilation would be complete without the famous What Is Love from the Saturday Night Live skits. This compilation is one of the best (And funnest) out there. Definately pick this up! It's worth the price.
Good CD.......2000-07-24
This is a great CD. I listen to it all the time.
no longer collecting dust.......2000-05-18
This Cd was a gift from Christmas 99. And I only started listening to it a week ago. I am surprised how much I like this CD! I wish I would have listened to it earlier!
Great!!.......1999-10-08
Want to feel like your in a dance club? Well this is the CD for you. All great, great songs.
You just can't sit still with this one!
Good music, good beat.......1999-09-24
Most of the dance songs in the album are popular and well-known in dance clubs. So, having this CD is like owning your dance club. Although the music is non-stop from track to track, the mixing between songs is sometimes not that well done. Anyway, I like this CD very much.

Customer Reviews:
Disagree with Trance Dancer.......2005-09-27
While I agree with Trance Dancer that "The Beginning" is a definite buy, I really liked the Ultimate Reggaeton Collection. I do not think you can go wrong buying either one. They both have very good content, just different songs, different styles and different Artists. Isn't that what compilations are all about.
Good, but Not The Ultimate .......2005-09-26
This package has some nice tunes, but it is not a value priced package. I went through the Machete Music catalogue, and they have a really good value priced CD/DVD package (which I really like and have previously reviewed) entitled "The Beginning". (Also available at Amazozn). The majority of packages coming out of Machete are strictly Puerto Rican Artists (Puerto Rico has some great Artists), but they ignore all the Artists that actually created Reggaeton. The Beginning package includes tracks from all regions including Puerto Rico with original hits. As I have also previously said, if you have the bucks buy both, if not, go with "The Beginning" they are both from Machete, so they get the money one way or the other.

Customer Reviews:
Hip-Hop Essential.......2007-03-09
Run DMC, recognized as one of the pioneers of hip-hop/rap, gives us a treat with this album's release. Most of their top hits are loaded in this album, and many of the songs will take you back to the years when hip-hop was original and free of sample-heavy copycats as it is today. The album kicks off with "Rock Box", which is a rather underexposed hit, but true DMC fans will remember the song a few seconds into it. It's followed up by "Run's House", which is a decent song... but, the third track, "Walk This Way", is recognized as one of the most popular songs ever. The combination of rap and rock (Aerosmith lends their skills in this track) in this track became a signature song for Run DMC, as the song went on to hit multiple charts and was played regularly on several radio stations. "King Of Rock" is another popular hit that is included on this album, and the song is an original that became popular during the break-dance craze era of the early '80's. "It's Tricky" is a slightly different song compared to the others, hinting at a dance-beat rhythm as opposed to a more street-beat rhythm that most of their other tracks offer. "It's Like That" and "Raising Hell" provides listeners with the more street-beat sound, as "My Adidas" provides the more contemporary/radio sound that younger listeners enjoyed back then. "Sucker MC's" was one of their initial hits that made radio waves and "Mary Mary" definitely stuck on listeners' minds when it was popular in 1988. There are multiple hits on this album, and if you've ever had the heart for Run DMC, this collection is definitely a treasure.
Doesnt hold up so well........2007-02-14
I was mostly dissapointed in the videos. The quality is a little questionable and there just arent that many videos or songs for that matter that hold up all these years later. Walk this way being the one big exception the video is hillarious and the song still rocks.
Run DMC and JMJ RULE!!!!!!.......2005-07-06
Of All The Run-DMC CDs this is my favorite! The DVD has awesome music videos too! I would recommend this CD to anyone that likes kid rock, grandmasterflash, or beastie boys
ITS TRICKEY!!!.......2005-04-15
this the best run dmc cd available especially if you just found them not only is there a great cd but also a dvd with 14 videos a documentary and track listings of every one of there cds outkast the videos cost 30$ but and had 10 I think but this has 14 and is 12$ plus a cd yeah i think my work here is done
What can anyone say that ISN'T positive about Run-DMC..........2003-11-04
If you've purchased the "Greatest Hits" album and the "Together Forever" videos on DVD, then you don't need this. If you haven't then get this... NOW!!

Great Mix!.......2004-03-19
There are a lot of rap compilations out there, but this entire set by TIME-LIFE MUSIC is a great mix of the best old-school rap. They did a great job assembling this set! It's good to have all these old cuts in a single collection. Also, you get the full songs, they are not cut-off mixes by other DJ's. This is where it all came from. These artists deserve serious respect!

One of the best bass albums of all times.......2005-10-23
Just about every song on the is album is a classic. Quad Force is the best bass group only surpassed by Magic Mike who turned my on to bass with 1 classic song. The best song on this album is "Why Is The Bass So Strong?". If you have some good speakers and subwoofer just close your eyes and listen. THe best thing about Quad Force is they turn every little thing into a nice beat/rhythm, each instrument in their songs can be listened to as a separate melody.

Product Description
In the annals of "from the vaults" Hip Hop legend, time will show that a 17-year delay in the release of the Ultimate Force's ridiculously dope debut, "I m Not Playin", is an injustice of mammoth musical proportions. That sounds like a bunch of hype. It's not. Take one listen to "Another Hit", "Girls", "Revolution of the Mind", the stellar posse cut "Oh Shit" (featuring a teenaged Fat Joe, also heard here on "C'mon") and one of the best DJ tracks of all time, "Supreme Diamond D", and tell me that these wouldn't have blown up if they had hit, as originally planned, in 1990. We all know that the Ultimate Force's DJ and producer Diamond [then known as Diamond D] is one hell of a tracktitioner. His work on Lord Finesse's 1990 classic "Funky Technician" proved it, his 1992 debut "Stunts, Blunts & Hip-Hop" cemented it early on, and his track record ever since (ever heard of the Fugees? Busta Rhymes? DITC, anyone?) has shut down any doubters. Case closed. But one listen to this record will show you where his skills really started to shine. And not just as a producer, and definitely not as an MC (he didn't rhyme in the Ultimate Force). His DJ skills here, along with his now-legendary production muscle, are worth the price of admission alone. Imagine if the world had heard "Supreme Diamond D" wherein the man born Joseph Kirkland runs through the entire alphabet, cutting phrases from A to Z in 1990. Brian Coleman (author of "Rakim Told Me", and the upcoming "Check The Technique: Liner Notes for Hip-Hop Junkies") 'Special Edition Extended Play Double Disc' includes all album tracks as well as full instrumentals and a capellas for each song, thirty six total cuts, housed in a deluxe six-panel digipak with additional liner note booklet written by Brian Coleman, with input from Master Rob and Diamond D themselves.

Another winning dance compilation........2003-03-01
This third entry in the Ultimate Dance Party compilation series is in my opinion, the weakest of the UDP CDs. Some of the songs don't even have the punch like most of the previous entries. Some of the dance tracks can be downright annoying instead of getting me up on the dance floor.
"Too Close" by the R&B group next is probably one of the last great R&B hits and it's a good and groovy track and in my opinion, a minor classic although some of the dirty content in the lyrics are a little much. "Walking On The Sun" by Smash Mouth is a 60s oriented rocker that definitely has a very 60s style fused with some electronic madness. As much as I like this song, it doesn't belong on here. This song I'm embarrassed to admit to liking but I still like this song and it has recovered from the `played out' syndrome. "Feel It" by Maya and The Tamperer is a harder edged song with a mix of church bell sound effects along with thumping beats. "Free" by the group Ultra Nate is a classic R&B style dance track with a 70s or early 80s feel to it and great guitars too. I think that it's a great mix of dance, R&B, rock, and pop. The version of Diana King's "Say A Little Prayer" is another great song with a somewhat early 90s sound to it. Love this track a lot. Those who like early 90s style dance music might enjoy this song. I do. The song transitions gracefully into the next song. "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" by Deborah Cox in it's original version, is a ballad but the version on here is a lot better with a much more aggressive and crashing rhythm. "It's Like That" by Run DMC is a wonderful blend of old-school hip-hop and techno that harkens back to the lighter atmosphere of hip-hops early days. It's kind of sad listening to this song now considering that the group called it quits after Jam Master Jay was murdered last year and now rap has been deprived of its pioneering group. "Cruel Summer" by Ace Of Base is a more sketchy sounding song with a darker and more laser-like mood to it with it's strobe light keyboards and eerie atmosphere. "Kiss The Rain" by Billie Myers most of us remember back in late 1997 and early 1998. This version has some occasional chord structure altering giving the song a whole different feel. "One More Night" by Amber is an unforgettable dance number with a much darker, more urban nighttime mood as opposed to the sunnier original album version. The original on her debut album "This Is Your Night" is a mid-tempo ballad, the version on here is the dance track that we're more familiar with. Both versions are great but I like the dance version better on this compilation. I love it's futuristic mood. The Razer N Grind mix of Monica's "First Night" is in my honest opinion a monotonous dance number that doesn't do a whole hell of a lot for me. Not bad but one of my least favorite tracks on the CD. "I'm Leaving" by Lisa Stanfield is another decent song but not on par with a lot of the previous remixes of her songs but still good. The Rhythm Mix of Aretha Franklin's "A Rose Is Still A Rose" is a wonderful remix of the 1998 hit of hers. Aretha's voice sounds as great even at the time of this songs heyday as it was when she recorded "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." back in the early 60s. "Backstreets Boys "Everybody" is one of only two or three songs off their debut that I cared for. This song is not too bad and one of their better songs. The Halloween video for this song was absolutely dynamite. The album kind of goes in a bit of a slump after this song ends. "Still Not A Player" by the late Big Punisher is actually quite a good and memorable modern rap song and I actually like this song and it's kind of ironic considering how much I've come to despise the state that rap has gone into since this song's heyday. Big Punisher sadly died in early 2000. "Still Not A Player" would be the last great rap song for a while. "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See" by Busta Rhymes is a lightweight rap number that I think doesn't belong on this collection but on perhaps on the "Ultimate Hip Hop Party" compilation. Still it's not a bad song but I don't think it has enough punch to be considered a dance song. The final track "Shorty You Keep Playing With My Mind" by Imajin is a decent R&B hip-hop number and not a bad song but like the previous song, it doesn't belong on this collection either but on the "Ultimate Hip Hop Party" collection for the same reasons as the previous.
Overall, this is yet again, another winning platter of music from the compilation series. Quite frankly, they did a pretty good job by picking the better songs from the hip-hop and dance music genre of the late 90s. Even the songs that don't belong on here are good as well and even the hip-hop oriented songs are quite good as well, considering how far into mediocrity that the two genres have sadly gone into in the years after 1998. This is a worthy CD of getting.

...What FUN this album is! I Got this CD when I was just looking around in a used store and I can't believe how good the Remixes are!
