I love this CD. Lisa really uses her gifts to minstry to those who like the soulful feel. Since I purchased it, I haven't taken it out of my CD player. The whole project is GREAT. If I had to pick a favorite I would say...MOVE OVER. It makes me want to shout and praise the LORD for ALL that He has done for me. And if you actually think about ALL that He has done....you BETTER ask someone to MOVE OVER.

Live from the House of Blues is OK. I bought the CD when it came out, but I haven't been playing it that much. I believe Lisa's voice is better on studio projects. Her voice doesn't sound that great, but since she was expecting that may have been a factor with Lisa's sound. Soul Music was good, but this CD did not meet my expectations. "Move on Over" was not a good choice for the single. I'm not sure what to say about this CD, but it's not bad.

My favorites are "Just Another Day," "You Can," "Uphold Me," and "About Your Love For Me."

Lisa McClendon is back with a live album, Live from the House of Blues: New Orleans. This album was recorded in summer 2005 before Hurricane Katrina swept through the Gulf Coast and devastated the region.

I was really looking forward to this new offering from McClendon. I have her first two CDs: My Diary, Your Life and Soul Music. Both of them display the neo-soul genre at it's best. McClendon's earthy alto is calming, organic, and complete with earnestness.

However, I think Live is a step down from her previous efforts. The live instrumentation is soulful and jazzy, and she has some great background singers helping her out. But her songs sounded very much alike in key, melody, and mood. McClendon possesses an expressive, yet relaxed alto. Maybe a little too relaxed. I've noticed that those who sing alto have a tendency to go off key more often than not. There are times when McClendon strays off the notes, and instead of sounding endearing, it just gets on my nerves.

And just when I was about to cut her some slack, I got to the song, "Who Can Love You More," a song written especially for single adults who are frustrated with waiting on the "right one." Her exhortation to singles that God is still working on them (because they're too screwed up to be with another human being--not in those words, but you get the point) was well-meaning, but may come off sounding cliched and condescending. And apparently, she was married later in life than she expected, so she wants to share her experience and knowledge with others going through the same waiting game. However, just because God shows you reasons for why you are not married, doesn't mean it applies to every other single person-- but I digress.

Back to the music, "Made" is nice along with "About Your Love for Me" and "You Still Love Me" (which similar in theme and content to the same song on her debut album).

This album was recorded live at the House of Blues in New Orleans. Did you know that she recorded it just two weeks before Hurricane Katrina struck?

We thank God for this master piece. I most say as I listen I kept on feeling like I am at the Jazz Café in London listing to LCGC (London Community Gospel Choir) live. Clearly Lisa in my opinion is the Queen of the Nu Soul sound and clearly there is no shortage on this album.

Lisa is a very distinctive artist you either love her or not because of her style of music. I have to congratulate the Americans on this live recording because it sounds absolutely brilliant. I love the Jazzy feel on some of the tracks. Lisa has want I call a winning combination in the sector because it all about simple lyrics complemented by a full piece band. You have to hear this album to get what I am trying to describe here. Or book your ticket for December'06 to here LCGC at Jazz Café, Parkway in Camden Town, London.

On one of the tracks it has a very rocky introduction until Lisa starts to sang or should I say before she start ministry. The album gets you going and involves you from the third track inn and the album is nicely split into two halves up tempo at the beginning and towards the end a mellow chill out vibez. The track Uphold Me features Marvin Winnans & Ronald Winnans and it was played as a tribute to the Late Ronald Winnans. The album is definitely a masterpiece but the downside is that there are not enough tracks just thirteen but it deserves 5.

I cannot begin to say how wonderful this project is. It's always a big plus for me when I don't need to "skip" any songs on a CD, and this one delivers BIG TIME!!!! I heard Soul Music and Move on Over on two separate compilation CD's I had and I decided to purchase her live album - and I was in no way disappointed. THIS CD HAS NOT COME OUT OF MY PLAYER!!!!!! It is really hard to pick favorites, but I'd have to say they are Made (the music is just whew!), But For Eternity, You Can (you better play that guitar!), and of course, Move On Over (if you're sitting still during this song, something is wrong with you!). This will not be a CD that will collect dust in your collection!

I've had this CD for quite some time. It hit the stores in 1995, but I may have been a year or two late. Actually I bought the tape before replacing it with the CD. Praise in the House was made at time when praise and worship was uncommon in the black church, at least in the South. By praise and worship, I mean real p&w; songs penned by Contemporary Christian artists, not devotional songs.

Praise in the House has songs that probably would be considered classic praise and worship, such as "There is None Like You" and "Joy of My Desire." "Blessed Be the Name of the Lord" is a nice choir/ group arrangement. Since Fred Hammond and Radical for Christ recorded the songs, it has `flavor' if you know what I mean. When I was younger, "We Lift Up Your Name" always came on the radio on Sunday mornings, and as I say, `that was my jam.' I had to find that song, which of course led me to the tape. I wasn't disappointed.

I grew up in a traditional church, so some of the songs and the atmosphere that p&w produced were new to me. The songs are still able to set the atmosphere, hence the CD is timeless. Although it is an older CD, Praise in the House relevant for today. With Fred Hammond as producer, you have nothing to lose.

    The beautifully captured reverberant sound of the acoustic space is matched by gorgeous choral balance, precise diction, and definitive interpretation. In spite of the contemporary style of the compositions - Rorem doesn't shy away from crunchy dissonances - this is a very enjoyable collection of Choral music with many beautfiul moments.

    I absolutely love this cd. It is my all time favorite praise cd. It envokes the feeling of being in church. I'm actually very finicky about gospel music, but I love this one. If you see a copy, buy it as soon as you can. It's hard to find. I lost my copy on a plane trip a few months ago and I've missed it ever since.

    I listen to a lot of gospel music but this CD has been my favorite for several years. It has a nice mix of praise songs and worship songs. My very favorite is "I Will Celebrate". It makes me want to get up and dance, and I always find myself singing along.

      I heard Vince Redhouse play at Borders last night (Oct. 17, 2003) in Tucson and was lucky enough to hear this classically-trained musician offer some of his reflections on his life and work. He is a spiritual, soulful individual, a skillful, long-time woodwinds player who played the saxophone as well as the native flute. The music is exceptionally relaxing. It is wonderful background music and very meditative if you want to focus your full attention on it. His CDs are my favorite among the two dozen or so native flute CDs I own. I can't wait for his new release to come out early next year (2004).

      This Cd is a must have! especially if you love native flute.
      remember this Cd is nominated for a Grammy! and I think it deserves it! you also get to hear more than just flute on this cd.. sax and powwow drum to name a couple.
      it makes great background music for your home or office or business.

      Great, fun dance music that glorifies the Lord! I recognize most of the songs from church and really like the funky beat the Disco Saints have added to liven them up. They've also redone the popular Newsboys song "Shine" which is pretty cool. I highly recommend this CD to those who love Jesus and dance music!!!

      The cd was a gift to me. I enjoyed the uplifting and spirit filled music immensely. Until I lost it. I left my copy in a rental car. I can't wait to recieve a new one. Plug this one into your walkman and prepare to get "happy".

      This CD did not meet my expectations. It was a waste of money. I was looking for something to use with my choir. It sounded great on the website, the pieces that I heard. I think if they are going to put various artists on a CD, at least let the music be worth listening to.

      Excellent. The flow of lyrics and ryhthm was great. Very well coordinate and each and every song delived a message. A message that should lead lost souls to Christ and saved folks to repentance and deliverance. It is defiintely geared for the lest, the lost and the leftout.
