Good album, better additional disc........2006-03-29
This is an excellent album. Atmosphere that was pre-Overcast is my favorite kind! However the best part of the CD isn't the CD itself, but the bonus disc that features the Headsho7s' Greatest Hits. I'm not even going to review the main disc, it's pretty good, however I think that should be the bonus disc and the second disc should be the main attraction. The second disc contains tracks from The Dynospectrum, Slug, Sess, Beyond, and a few other under the rock RhymeSayers. Every track on the CD is great, which is pretty much hit or miss considering there's only ten. Some of the highlights of the bonus disc are "7th St. Entry" a song about someone who leaves messages in the 7th St. Entry bathroom that are duragatory to Slug and his abilities. The next great track is the best on the CD: "Multiples Reprise [Remix]" this CD blows the other Multiple tracks you may have heard out of the water. The story is all about the many characters of Uptown Minneapolis, and their expolits. It goes into the tales of over ten people and how they all intertwine, and the downfall of each. Track 06 "Funny Colors In My Mushroom Trails" is about Slug and Sess's experiences with Mushrooms. It is hauntingly accurate and will make any shroom user think back and wonder what the eff they were doing. "F**k The Bulls**t" is another awesome track, about people who complain about life when they could very easily fix things themselves with suicide (EXTREME!). The next two tracks are also very good, but like I said no song compares to "Multiples Reprise [Remix]."
Without a doubt pick up the set. If you are a fan of Atmosphere's Overcast! you will definetly appreciate the first disc. And if you are a fan of hip-hop in general you will love the second disc. Thank you much.
STOP READING.......GO & BUY!!!!!!!!.......2006-02-20
OK, im not going to get into @tmosphere politics ie; witch lp is better etc. .....all that im going to say is i own all 6 available atmosphere lp's and both felt lp's and this lp did not let me down at all, head shots is recordings of wich were created between overcast & lucy ford!! it was originaly only avaiable on cassete, being #7 of a cassette series called HEAD SHOTS(no. 7), also SE7EN is "slug's crew"....anyways if you are a REAL HIP HOP fan you should STOP READING THIS AND GO AND BUY IT WRIGHT NOW, unfortunatly now-a-days there not alot of good classic material out there like this lp, so go and cop it, trust me!!!!!!!!!
Great Stuff. I cant wait till I get Overcast.......2006-02-19
Wow. The first Atmosphere album I ever got was god loves ugly and immediately I was hooked. I later got Sevens travels and You cant imagine how much fun we're having. But when I was at the store I just happened to notice that they had a copy of headshots so I bought it. I Immediately put it in my Cd player and WOW!! This is probably the best atmosphere album I have heard yet. But then again I havent heard Overcast(Im gonna get it soon) but this is what hip hop is all about. Slugs crazy flow complements Ants "gift from god" beats. Definitely a must have for any rhymesayers fan
How Many HeadShots Does It Take To Get To Se7en??.......2005-12-06
After the release of Se7en's Travels in 2003, The collective duo of Slug and Ant decided to re-release their most popular mixtape to date onto CD format. the 7th volume of the Headshots series is quite possibly their greatest mixtape to date from the well known series. Unfortunately, from what I understand the other Headshots mixtapes can only be obtained in the Midwest region. However, this was my introduction to Atmosphere after hearing this album over a friend's house, then purchasing my own copy, I was instantly hooked on the strategic flow of Slug and on point production of Ant. Atmosphere was my reason for breaking away from the hold that mainstream hip hop had on me(Thank God!). Ever since my purchase in early February 2005, I have many plenty of investments in other underground hip hop, mainly from the Rhymesayers label, among others. Atmosphere fans will agree that out of 5 studio releases, Headshots ranks near the top with tracks like "The Abusing Of The Rib", "Tracksmart" featuring Eyedea and my personal favorite "The Jackpot". Slug's on time and heartfelt delivery will not disappoint fans of underground hip hop.
his best effort.......2005-10-25
Atmosphere has slowly lost my respect as an underground artist. He has slowly been watered down.He has became water that smells like Jack Daniels.Headshots is a straight shot of Jack.No water. The lyrics he brings are fun and slug rode the beats like a real emcee should. The beats are simple but bangin. The rhymes are fun to listen to and every track is worthy of my ear.The fun lyricism that Emenim used to bring is what Slug is perfect at.He has a presence on this album that makes you listen to what he has to say.He entertains.I tune out alot of emcees because of the braggin garbage that comes out of their mouth.IM BROKE.WHY WOULD I WANT TO LISTEN TO SOME QUACK BRAG ON THEIR MONEY,GOLD,RIMS,ETC.Slug doesnt come like that.He is on our level. If you get an Atmosphere album then this should be it.Overcast is the second best from atmosphere.I cant recommend any of their other stuff. Its just not as good.GRAB YOURSELF HEADSHOTS.You'll thank me.

Good soundtrack but at the same time...........2006-12-18
I have to admit that while I like this soundtrack, there are some problems with it. On the positive side, you do get a good overall song selection, as well as two cuts of Howard Shore's score, which are great on their own. The problem with this soundtrack is that it leaves out songs from the film that absolutely should have been on the album, namely the remix of the Nine Inch Nails track "Closer" and "Heart's Filthy Lesson" by David Bowie. If you are thinking of ordering this looking for those two songs in particular, don't even bother. Personally, I would have appreciated it had they released Shore's complete score on its own but I'm guessing we'll see an "official" release on that end some day (apparently there's a bootleg of the original score floating around, which I have yet to find).
I think this disc is worth a listen. The music is all over the place in terms of genres and there are some good tracks in here but this isn't the end-all, be-all soundtrack that should have been released for the film.
wtf.......2005-03-09
What idiot put together this soundtrack? It doesn't have the key songs. The mood setting songs. The good songs. How can you leave Closer or Heart's Filthy Less off this soundtrack? This sounds more like one from a sappy ass chick flick rather than a psychological thriller. Instead of NIN or David Bowie the put in Billie Holiday and Marvin Gaye. That just screams serial killer. Not saying anything bad about them, but they wouldn't be my first choice to put on the soundtrack this should have been. It's really pathetic.
Forget this soundtrack, get the score.......2004-11-28
While this soundtrack has some worthy songs (especially the Bach piece and the suite), it is completely lacking in actual music from the film. Anyone who has seen this great film knows that it has a great score by Howard Shore. Do yourself a favor, skip this one and go for the score disc, it contains 28 tracks and is running for almost an hour and a half. It contains every piece of score in the film and this is the REAL soundtrack. It's called "Se7en - The Expanded Soundtrack". Unfortunately it is very rare, I seriously doubt if you can find it in a retail shop and I know for a fact that no online shop sells it. I got it from a friend a couple of years ago and it has been one of my most valuable soundtracks to date. Do yourself some good and go look for this one, it's the soundtrack as it was meant to be.
Nothing Like The Movie.......2004-05-17
This is a really strange soundtrack because it doesn't succeed in conveying the mood of the film at all. Quite a few of the tracks are upbeat, jazzy numbers and I have no idea where these were used in the movie. The fact that the NIN closer remix isn't here is annoying as it really does set the tone in the opening credits but I don't really care since I have that mix on the single anyway. The reason I bought this CD was for the Bach Air piece, which totally blew me away in the film and stuck in my head for ages. Basically I wanted to have that on CD without getting a whole Bach CD since I'm not into that kind of music generally....so I'm happy, even if this soundtrack as a whole is pretty slight. The score pieces are worthwhile and appropriately dark and I was pleasantly surprised by the Thelonius Monk contribution, since I've rarely listened to any jazz...All in all, there is some good stuff on here but it doesn't remind you of the movie at all, except for the Bach piece, which is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.
Disappointing Drivel.......2003-09-04
While some of the songs on the 'soundtrack' are ok, they do not capture the dark and violent feeling of the whole movie. Closer (Precursor) sets the mood, and things don't let up until Bowie's Filthy Lesson. Listening to this soundtrack, you would never know you were listening to one of the more disturbing movies of the 90's. This 'soundtrack' does not do the movie justice.

Great Korean Artist with a meandering JPop Debut.......2007-06-05
I discovered Se7en in 2005 when I happened to come across his third album (24/7) - one that still finds repeat plays on my Ipod - and I dont even speak Korean! Granted, Se7en's unique voice alone is worth the full-price on any CD he puts out, which is probably why I made a wise decision when I decided to download his first Japanese album before actually buying it off the Web. Boy am I glad I did that.
As an avid listener to male and female Jpop (Ken Hirai being my favorite), this albun struck me as oddly lifeless, which is weird because Se7en is known for being especially energetic and playful during his studio sessions. Perhaps this is because Se7en only speaks Korean in real life and doesn't know a word of actual Japanese (which would explain his weird pronunciation - evident even to non-native speakers). This is a pity, because Se7en is perhaps the most blessed of all the KPop singers (vocally even better than Rain, even though Rain has better stage presence).
The best track here is "Hikari" (with an equally lovable video), and this is followed closely by "Start Line". Both are rather pretty and melodious (though meandering and plodding at the same time), but they are just so, so average, that I am afraid no ones going to remember this a year from now. When a stunning and stupendous ballad such as "Aika" by Ken Hirai is already forgotten by the general public, there is no chance for an album like "First Se7en".
I liked Rain's Japanese debut "Eternal Rain" much more than this. Now that wasn't a perfect album either, but at least it was partially coherent. This album on the other hand is a desperate effort to get both the Japanese sound and feel - abandoning all of Se7en's actual roots and personality in the process. Being in his early twenties, Se7en hasn't got enough personality to pull off a foreign language record at this stage. To be fair, he is definitely the best looking man in the Korean music industry right now, and his dance moves are up there with the best (again, bettered only by Rain), but I guess at the end of it the fact remains that even an exceptionally stunning face cannot revive a weak and insipid album.
There were two things I liked about this debut Japanese album by Se7en : 1) his voice (as gifted as ever), and 2) the fact that the record was made by Se7en. Other than this, the melodies are nothing to write home about.
I would recommend downloading a few tracks from this CD before actually deciding to buy it. I haven't bought it, but have the whole thing on my Ipod anyway (with very few plays, I might add). Get it if you're a rabid Se7en fan, but if you're into male Korean Pop, I would suggest getting works by either Rain, Kangta or the criminally underrated singer Tei (especially his debut CD "The First Journey")

Nice music but not enough content.......2005-09-17
I consider myself as a huge fan of Se7en. No, to be honest, he is my second favorite singer next to Yoo Seung Jun. I own both of his previous music CDs(Just Listen & Must Listen), and I listened to all of them over and over again at least five times.
While I did not purchase this CD yet, I had a chance to listen to them through streaming music online. And while the music itself is excellent, attaching price tag of over 10 dollars on the CD containing only four music is ridiculous.
It is not clear why the Japanese album company decided to included only four music on the album, though I understand how difficult it is to sing in Japanese for Se7en who is a Korean.
If you really want to liste to the music on your portable CD player or do not have access to streaming music online because of slow internet connection, go ahead and buy the CD. But I recommend that you wait little more till either CDs become cheaper or Korean company releases new album with those music in addition to other music.
Se7en's first Japanese single is great!.......2005-09-06
After releasing two Korean CDs, Se7en comes out with a japanese single that sounds different from Se7en's usual style, but in a good way. The single, Hikari is a catchy song that will make you want to listen to it over and over. The other japanese song Chiriboshi, along with a Korean song Crazy, are equally as good as Hikari. I would highly reccommend this cd, it's great for new or old Se7en fans and won't dissapoint.
wow!!.......2005-04-19
im a HUGE se7en fan, and he has again failed to dissapoint me. the first song Hikari (light) is a song i constanly find being stuck in my head. ChiriBoshi (dust star) is a cool, upbeat song that gets better everytime i hear it. Crazy is the only korean track, but its my favorite on this cd. "1-1-2-2-3-4-5-5-6-se7en!!!" lol the song is sooo awesome and very upbeat and has a daring vibe to it. and a great song to dance to. i hope you buy this cd and support Mr. Choi Dong Wook (se7en) ^_^
