I have enjoyed this cd verymuch since i got it. I have no faults with it.
Glenn Miller Greatest Hits.......2007-04-11
Glenn Miller is my all-time favorite of the big band musicians. I was only nine years old when Glenn Miller's plane was lost. However, my parents managed a boarding house for young military men and their wives. The men were stationed at what is now Ellsworth AFB, in Rapid City, SD. The wives wiled away their days playing board games, or playing the piano and singing this type music. It is a wonderful memory for me. My father was a huge Glenn Miller fan, too, so we listened to his music frequently. This is an excellent collection of his hits; it would be hard to select a favorite, although "In the Mood" and 'Moonlight Serenade" would be at the top of the list.
glenn miller greatest hits.......2007-04-10

What can ya say...this CD has all his best known pieces and if you're not a fan then you probably wouldn't be reading this anyway. Quality is good and definitely the real thing...Big Band at it's BEST.

Customer Reviews:
Great Best Of.......2007-03-13
I'm not a huge fan of Fatboy Slim but this CD is great. Most of the songs you can hear all the time and there were a few I have not heard of at all. While most of these pay on commericals or in movies (mainstream) its good background music for parties.
Who IS Fatboy Slim?.......2007-01-12
Well, I had NO IDEA who he was. Until I listened to this CD and recognized almost EVERY SINGLE ONE of the songs on it! These songs have been in TV commercials, movies, etc. We bought one for my brother in law for Christmas. EXCELLENT CD!!!! If you want to get a Fatboy Slim CD, this is the one to get.
Spectacular.......2006-11-29
This is what happens when you compile the best songs of one of the best DJs ever. If you're a big fan, there's not much new here, and those who collect many CDs probably have most if not all of these tracks already. But if you're a big fan, as I am, having the collection "under one roof" is worth the additional cost.
Addictive.......2006-09-29
I've been a casual fan of Fatboy Slim for years, but have never delved into their entire body of work. However, since I picked up this CD, I've become addicted. Why Try Harder is a great into to Fatboy Slim. Give it a try, and I'm sure you'll love it too. BTW - the new track "That Old Pair of Jeans" is the best FBS track yet.
Why look harder?.......2006-09-14
If you want to hear, enjoy, and show off to others the genius that is Fatboy Slim, here you go.
As Matthew Blissmer said in his review, this is a GREAT CD to put on for friends that don't want to hear the (often excessively) long versions of each of the songs. I always ran into that problem... I loved the songs but they had awkward lead-in and lead-outs. In "Why Try Harder?", ALL the songs are beautifully edited, starting and stopping at exactly perfect times for the full effect of the song. No minute-long lead-out for "Going Out of My Head", and "Brimful of Asha" (one of my favorites) is cut perfectly down to size from the 7:30 full cut.
I can put this in a CD player and hit Shuffle and not be nervous about hitting an embarrassing song. They're all great.
If you're new to Fatboy Slim, or you've been following him for years, it doesn't matter, this is your CD. Clean up all those illegally-downloaded albums and mixes you were too hesitant to purchase, because this has it all in one neatly packaged, easily-purchasable CD! Time to pay your respects to the totally awesome Norman Cook in this totally awesome collection. Why look harder?

Customer Reviews:
A dozen gem-Stones.......2007-02-14
BIG HITS (High Tide And Green Grass) is a solid distillation of the Rolling Stones' first few years. The album is heavy with hits, and stands the test of time-- a real tribute to one of the greatest bands ever.
Highly recommended!
Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass).......2006-07-27
This is one of the best CDs that I own. It brings back alot of memories and I love every song on it. I highly recommend buying it.
Every Song a Diamond.......2006-06-11
Everybody loves "Satisfaction" who can't get enough of that song? But for me, my favorite song on this record is "Heart of Stone." Of course, I love the last two slow ones too. I love all the songs in between as well. Most of the songs on this excellent compilation were written by Mick and Keith and playing them, you can see what really great song writers they were (and still are). These songs are all diamonds, glowing in a fire, especially the very beautiful "As Tears Go Bye." You can never go wrong with the Rolling Stones, that's for sure.
Play it Loud, but Turn it Down Toward the End.......2006-06-11
Every time I play this record I find myself reaching for the volume knob on my old, but still great McIntosh tube amp. Each song I seem to play a just a little louder than the last, till by the time I get to the Stones rockin' version of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" the JBL speakers I inherited from my parents, when they retired and bought one of those Bounder motor homes, are blowing the house down. I generally turn it down after "Fade Away" preferring to sort of mellow out during the band's gorgeous song "Good Times, Bad Times" and the very excellent "Play with Fire." Yeah, that's the way you should play this record, Play it Loud, but Turn it Down Toward the End.
Satisfaction Still Guaranteed.......2006-06-11
This record was put together with songs that were on the British version of past records, B sides and a couple knock down, drag out hits. By the time this record came out the Stones had taken the world by Storm. Girls were screaming at their concerts, guys too, I'm told. But then how can you possible hold it in when Mick's on stage shouting out "Satisfaction." Boy I know I'd've been a screaming, wetting my panties too. "Big Hits" opens with "Satisfaction," ends with "Play with Fire" and every song between is a gem, especially their cover of Bobby Womack's "It's All Over Now." I've said it before, I'll say it again, you can't go wrong with the Rolling Stones, they come with Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Great mix of hard to find songs on CD that most have forgotten.......2007-07-13
I remember hearing these on the radio but had forgotten about most until I found this CD. From the upbeat instrumental version of TV's dragnet theme, to It's In The Book which believe it or not was actually played on the radio. These are songs that will be enjoyed again, if just only for the era they are from. And, a must have if you are an oldies collector.
big hits of the fifties.......2007-06-08
With all the great music of the fifties this is the best you could come up with? This cd stinks only about three worth listening to. I wanted lisbon antigua, but I didn't think I would have to wade through all this trash.
THANKS.......2007-01-06

Great price! So many original recordings!.......2005-04-16
You would think that with this many tracks for such an inexpensive price, you'd be gettinga bunch of rerecordings. Not so! These are the original recordings of many of the biggest hits of the 50s.

Customer Reviews:
It's Unbelievable How Music Could Be This Good.......2006-06-24
The Dorsey brothers and Glen Miller were the greatest musicians of the World War II era. They kept so much of the public entertained during the war and gave so many Americans (and their allies) hope. Not even Joan Baez and Bob Dillan and their anti-Vietnam War songs are this good. This music is much better than the garbage that people call music today.
Tommy Dorsey -Best All Around Dance Band!.......2005-05-09
The Dorsey band could do everything. The hottest Swing and the smoothest ballads and the liveliest pops and novelties. His band was every inch as good as The Miller, Goodman and Shaw bands and at times, even better!
Dorsey had several bands and his pre 1940 band is very different than his band of 1940 - 1946. The '40s band had a more dynamic sound to it, especially in the Swing instrumentals! Plus...all those great vocalists - Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford, Connie Haines and the Pied Pipers vocal group, not to mention Dick Haymes, Stuart Foster and the great Clark Sisters aka The Sentimentalists.
The recordings on the CD above are a mixture of 'both' of TD's band of the era.
All the sides on the CD are choice and the only reason I have rated the CD 4 stars out of 5 is because my 'personal best' are not all on there!
And with all due respect to the reviewer below, the version of "Opus One" on this CD *is* the original 1944 recording when TD was featuring a big string section in his band. "Inferior"? No such way.
*For more by me on the Dorsey band, click on the link below-

Great sound quality, superb music.......2003-09-30
So many "greatest hits" compilations miss the mark either in quality or song selection. But this disc lives up to its billing as the "Best" of the Dorsey orchestra. It kicks off with one of the stellar and swingiest tunes of the Big Band era, "Opus Number One" (though this version is inferior to the more famous "single" version). It's hard to listen to this song and not appreciate the brilliant arrangement and musicianship displayed here. Along with Goodman's "Sing, Sing Sing" and Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" this has got to be in the top three of any Big Band all-time greatest list.
It's a pity that Dorsey has been somewhat forgotten today and shoved aside in preference of Benny, Glenn and Artie. Was he as good as those giants? No, but this disc shows that his band could swing, had a phenomenal young vocalist named Sinatra and that Tommy's trombone playing wasn't half bad. This is a must have album for anyone serious about the Big Band era.
absolutely marvellous!.......2003-09-09
They're all here, his big hits and some more: "Opus one", "Indian Summer" and of course "Song of India", and they were songs to get us through a very dark decade. And we thank English radio broadcasting for bringing these tunes to a country where German Schlagers were all over the airwaves in the early 40's. If you loved these tunes by Tommy Dorsey then, you'll find the sound on this CD just wonderful. Bittersweet memories of friendship, our country united in a struggle against a huge enemy, and finally resisting occupation so that our children could enjoy that awful music called rock & roll in the 50's... Only kidding, some of the rock stuff was endurable, but nothing can beat the beat of a real big band like Tommy Dorsey's!
"Opus one" the best of the best........2002-11-20
I have allways been a fan of Tommy Dorsey, and so will you when you listen to "Opus one", "Song of India" and "Marie" which, I think are some of his best work. Is it worth the price? If you are a fan of Tommy Dorsey and after, listening to the tracks, you will be, along with answering many times over, YES!

Very Pleased.......2007-05-14
I would buy from here again, my Cd came perfectly and on time. Thanks Very much.
Blast from the past.......2007-01-09
This is a great collection of Twisted Sister. I definitely would recommend this to any fan of Twisted Sister. You can't find this type of good rock n' roll anymore!
Cover doesn't say "GREATEST HITS".......2006-11-21
I have been a huge Twisted fan for over 25 years. I watched them evolve from their small club dates in upstate New York to their immense popularity in the mid eighties. I sadly watched as internal turmoil tore this band apart in the late eighties, was pleasantly surprised by their collaboration for "Heroes Are Hards To Find" from Dee's Strangeland movie and impressed by their reunion after 9/11. It was like they never left. However, for those of you who disapprove of this recording, please see that the cover does not say "Greatest Hits". Twisted was not about "greatest hits". They were about great music. Sure, they could have included great cuts like "Come Out And Play" or "Wake Up (the Sleeping Giant" (which may be, admittedly, one of their best tracks). However, they included several "live" tracks which is what makes them special. If you have never seen a "live" show, catch them before it is too late. They are the rare band who are amazing "live". Studio recordings do not do them justice. Okay, so not all of their best songs are included here. If you want all their great music, suck it up and buy their other CD's. You won't regret it. But, what IS here is what they were all about... great band and great music. Live on SMF's...
Twisted Sister Rocks!.......2006-08-30
In continuation of the so-called Reagen Rock years, this compilation lives up to its name. Who doesn't love the groove from "I Wanna Rock"?
It is what it says it is........2006-01-26
People, the name of the CD is "big Hits and Nasty Cuts", not "Twisted Sister's Greatest Hits and Nothing else." As a loooooong time Ts fan, I love the fact that this CD represents the full picture of the band. Sure, they had some huge hits in the hayday of hair metal, but in the late 70s and early 80s, they were one of the most vicious live acts around in terms of their intensity. the live tracks recorded at the Marquee Club in London show just how intense they were before their radio-friendly hits were recorded. I think the name of the CD says it all and no one should be surprised at what they are getting when they buy it. The Cd has equal helpings of their most well-known hits, as well as just enough early live stuff to show you what they sounded like before they were the darlings of MTV.

Customer Reviews:
Great to Hear All those great Voices from the Past.......2007-07-05
I just wanted to confirm what the first reviewer had to say about this CD. To hear Ethyl Merman, Mary Martin, Andrea McCardle etc. singing their trademark songs brought a lot of memories from the mid-centry musical theater back again. The last song by Glynis Johns is especially poignant.
You certainly can't beat the price!
A Good One!.......2006-11-10
This is a very good CD, mostly because it's the original artists. I've had some that were re-recorded by no name artists that were ghastly. This one is a really good one--including the sound quality. If I had one wish, I would wish it were longer!

Customer Reviews:
One of the best, most varied 80s compilations available.......2003-08-19
Having both graduated high school and college in the 1980s, my husband and I became fans of 80s music for life--in fact, our recent wedding was all 80s! We own at least 10 different 80s compilation CDs, and this is definitely one of the best. The album is very diverse: it includes the expected 80s pop hits such as "Mickey" by Toni Basil and "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves, but it also offers some great, lesser-know tunes, namely "Mary's Prayer" by Danny Wilson and "Don't Shed a Tear" by Paul Carrack. Similarly, not only does the CD feature big 80s rock bands such as J. Geils and Steve Miller, but also there are some one-hit wonder groups, including Johnny Hates Jazz and Cutting Crew. A wonderful blend of various styles from that great decade of music.

This second greatest hits collection serves up the band's classic mid- '60s period, capped off by the death of Brian Jones for whom this collection is dedicated. Having made their breakthrough with hits that challenged the status quo, the Stones were in no mood to calm down. The insistent chaos of "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?" "Jumping Jack Flash," and "Street Fighting Man" display the Stones at their most powerful, while "Dandelion" and "She's a Rainbow" are the Stones succeeding with psychedelia. "Paint It, Black" and "Ruby Tuesday" strike a perfect balance. A decent introduction to an essential period of Stones music. --Rob O'Connor

Customer Reviews:
essential!.......2007-06-15
The Stones in the 60s....awesome classic rock and roll. If you don't feel like spending forty bucks on the extensive Hot Rocks and More Hot Rocks collections then this is the one to go with. Every single song is a winner!
An essential Stones "best of".......2006-09-23
If you're new to the Stones then this would be a good place to start. After listening to this you'll be ready to listen to some of their other later 60's albums to hear some deeper cuts.
Remaster Worth It.......2006-03-11
Another reviewer, "exileonmainst" has questioned the value in the remastering on the Stones' ABKCO releases. Take it from me, since I actually own this CD. I replaced my old cds with the new remasters, and I can assure you that the remastered versions are FAR SUPERIOR to the old releases, and I do not own an SACD compatable cd player. ABKCO's previous releases have been remixed, making the track less muddy sounding at high volume. The level of clarity is amazing, and the mixes have been opened up to allow for a fuller sound. Definately worth the price of the new CD.
Review for Rolling Stones Big Hits vol2.......2006-02-01
This record is one I love best.I had it in vinil (L.P.).Some of the tracks like Honky Tonky Woman and Street Fighting man are not available in the others R.S. compact dics.Besides this record has another layer for super audio c.d. which is very good.
Speak of me as you find.......2005-11-15
When I was about 13 years old I purchased this lp. It was packaged in an octogon cutout jacket. I'll bet it's worth a fortune today. I have no idea what happened to it. This CD is a great trip down memory lane and it also serves up the great singles Jumpin' Jack Flash and Honky Tonk Women. Since I already owned Jump Back I decided to pick this up along with High Tide and Green Grass Volume I. I already own the SACD releases of Let It Bleed and Begger's Banquet so I don't really need the Hot Rocks set. I think this is a better way to go because it "frames" the era.
Enough of that. Through the Past Darkly is almost perfect. The SACD sound is truly amazing, you REALLY will hear things that were previously buried in the lack of fidelity of the Lp release and the original Analog to Digital CD release.
The track selection is great save for one. I'd forgotten how truly ridiculous She's a Rainbow sounds. I just have to laugh at it. The background vocals actually remind of of some of the vocals from Zappa's We're Only in it for the Money. - you know, the vocal tracks where Zappa would speed up Ray Collins voice? It sounds like a bunch of stoned munchkins! This was psychodelic? Oh brother! At first I cringed and winced but then just decided to just laugh at it. It's good fun.
Ruby Tuesday is a very nice treat on this release. You can actually hear the horse hair of the cello bow moving across the strings! Even on a plain ol' CD player!
If you don't own Beggar's Banquet you can hear the terrific Street Fighting Man mix here. I just love that wild ending with the strings, sitar, and the pentatonic piano notes floating above it all. And the drum on the intro to this song... Charlie Watts must be playing the biggest bass drum available. It sounds massive! Ba-Boom!
All of these tracks will sound fresh and new, Mother's Little Helper, Paint it Black, Have You Seen Your Mother? Let's Spend the Night Together - I really am hearing all kinds of new things in the mix. At times it's as if you are standing right in the middle of the session. I love it.
If you want a very good late 60's Stone Collection , this is it. Again, I would go with the SACD releases of High Tide and Green Grass and Through the Past Darkly rather than Hotrocks. Why? Because once you hear these you are going to run right out and buy Beggar's Banquet and Let it Bleed which are must have Stones releases.
Go for it!
Postscript: Ok. I admit it. Two weeks later and She's a Rainbow sounds great, even with the stoned munchkins singing the ooo-la-la-la ooo-la-la-la-laaaaaa in the background. She's a Rainbow is actually a very interesting artifact of the late 60's!
