5 out of 5 stars just good music.......2007-07-03

music, of course, is the same as beauty. It's in the eye (ear) of the beholder. with these albums, one can see that JF has improved, even though that was thought undo-able. How can you get better than great???

5 out of 5 stars Fogerty.......2007-06-10

Great value. If you remember the 60s' and 70s' you will love this one.

3 out of 5 stars For drinking beer & looking out your back door........2006-08-11

Hooray! 11 years, and we get an album that by most artists' standards would've been fairly enjoyable...John Fogerty is a rocker, as evidenced by the new live DVD; you wouldn't know it from listening to "Blue Moon Swamp." I'm going back to listen to "Eye of the Zombie."

5 out of 5 stars Fogerty's best solo album.......2006-07-14

John Fogerty comes out hiding every couple of years and releases a new album. The Grammy winning "Blue Moon Swamp" is a delightful album full of great songs touching on blues, country, rock and gospel over the course of its 14 songs. 14 songs you ask?Yep. The album has been reissued with two solid tracks recorded during the original sessions. "Endless Sleep" and "Just Pickin'" aren't as essential as the other tracks on the album but they are a nice bonus for fans that may not have purchsed the album before or are replacing it.

The two bonus tracks clock in at less than 5 minutes. As I said if you have the previous edition they aren't essential. With the switch of Fogerty's solo stuff (all except his Fantasy releases)to Geffen Records the label thought it would be wise to reissue this album with bonus tracks to entice buyers again. The same original master created by Bob Ludwig is used so it doesn't really sound different.

I am a huge fan of John Fogerty's solo music and his music with CCR. If you enjoy his roots-rock style then I strongly recommend that you check out the following:
1) 24 Hours A Day by The Bottle Rockets
2) Chooglin': A Tribute To The Songs Of John Fogerty
3) Banjos and Sunshine by Sixty Acres
4) Trace by Son Volt

Former Creedence Clearwater Revival leader Fogerty's first album since 1986's broodingly flat Eye of the Zombie, '97's Blue Moon Swamp finds him returning to the roots-rock ways of his old CCR glory days. Deceptively relaxed in the Creedence manner, this collection seeks to evoke the mood and tone of Southern swamp blues, with generally successful results. Highlighted by rockabilly-tinged tunes like "Southern Streamline" and "Hot Rod Heart," the album's clear standout track is "One Hundred and Ten in the Shade," on which Fogerty, ably backed by gospel vocal group legends the Fairfield Four, uncannily reconstructs the sound of Southern field hollers. --Billy Altman

5 out of 5 stars That man can play............2005-04-20

Well, I have to say that this album is superb. From beginning to end, it is seamless. Mr. Fogerty thank you so much for this great piece of music. It's easy to see why "The Dude" (aka Jeffrey Lebowski) dug CCR so much, thanks again John and keep it coming!!!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Fogerty Album Ever..........2004-09-26

John's best effort is right here, hands down.I think the thing that makes this album great is the flow of the songs. And the selection put right here."Swamp River Days" sounds like it could have been a CCR hit back then.Which makes this album the most CCR-sounding solo record he's got.Which ain't a bad thing.Very catchy songs here that makes you listen instantly.Any fan of rock, country, rhythm n blues,blue-eyed soul and southern rock could really get into this one. Also go check out his live cd "Premonition" with CCR classics, with solo stuff too.

5 out of 5 stars Go cruising with the top down and..........2004-06-28

...and turn your stereo up as loud as you can stand it when playing this CD. Songs like Hot Rod Heart, Rattlesnake Highway, Blue Boy, Southern Streamline, Rambunctious Boy, Walkin' in a Hurricane - man, do they conjure up images of hot-August-night, wind-in-your-hair, combat-sweat sex! And none more so than Hundred and Ten in the Shade. What a great, great CD! If anyone ever doubted that Fogerty truly was the heart and soul of CCR, this CD should dispell those myths!

5 out of 5 stars Blue Moon Swamp.......2003-12-25

This is a great Rockin, Country, Blue's album. Just glad e-bay is around or i probably never would have found it again. Thank's Mike...

5 out of 5 stars A triumphant return.......2003-04-19

When John Fogerty returned with the good-but-not-great "Centerfield" in 1985, people were so happy that they sent it to #1 in spite of the fact that most of the songs really weren't among Fogerty's best work.

In 1997 he made another comeback with this album. It didn't create as much fuss, but it is a much better record all the same. In fact, "Blue Moon Swamp" is as good a roots-rock record as anybody has managed to deliver for many, many years. A wonderful, mature blend of rock, country, blues and John Fogerty's unique "swamp sound", and one of the very few rock records of the 90s worthy of being called a masterpiece, this is a vibrant and evocative record which continues to grow on me.
Good to have you back, Mr Fogerty.
