Beck, drummer Narada Michael Walden, and producer George Martin here embark on a potent jazz-rock journey, making stops at the ferocious "Led Boots," the thumb-popping R&B of "Come Dancing," and the hooky "Blue Wind" (written by former Mahavishnu synth player Jan Hammer). Max Middleton's funky clavinet on "Play with Me" and his pulsing Rhodes piano work on "Sophie" add color and rhythmic urgency to Beck's searing guitar, with its unmistakable tone and vocal-like inflections. Released a year after the breakthrough Blow by Blow, Wired generally runs a little hotter, though its low-gear moments--in particular the emotional largesse of Mingus's "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat"--will blow your hair back. --James Rotondi --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

Ex-Black Crowes guitarslinger Marc Ford's second solo album literally sounds like a classic. With its conflagrant riffing, big six-string tones, blues bedrock, and tunes that swing from soulful pop ballads like "The Other Side" to grinders like "Don't Come Around," the disc recalls a time in the '60s when groups like the MC5 and Humble Pie were at rock's creative apex. The wah-wah-mad instrumental "The Big Callback" also nods to Hendrix, and "Smoke Signals" has the drama of early Neil Young and Crazy Horse. But ultimately Ford's a synthesist, not a copycat, so his unpredictable guitar heroics are as likely to explode into clouds of whinnying feedback as to sprint into marathons of bent, ringing sustained notes and pentatonic scales. Ford's lyrics display a street poet's sensibility that matches his light-sandpaper voice. And as a song interpreter, he shakes the dust off "That Same Thing" with expressionistic jabs of moaning, raging guitar that make the hoary blues chestnut a raw, unexpected highlight. "Just Take the Money" trumpets contempt for his former bandmates. That's not the classiest move, but with his own fiery style at his absolute command, Ford needn't worry about burning bridges. --Ted Drozdowski
Album Description
Marc Ford's first record was with CBS' renowned retro blues rockers Burning Tree in the late 1980's. Burning Tree's self-titled debut album was a much-heralded debut among guitar aficionados and led to Ford being asked to join The Black Crowes.
Ford put his stylized guitar stamp on the Black Crowes' records "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion,""Amorica" and "Three Snakes and One Charm" as well as making two additional records with the band, "Tall" and "The Band" which were recorded in the 90's and were previously unreleased until 2006.
Ford accepted an invitation to join "Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals" and toured with them, recording their EP and DVD each entitled "Live at the Hollywood Bowl."and won a Grammy Award in 2004 for his involvement with Ben Harper and the Blind Boy's Of Alabama's record, "There Will Be A Light." Ford also appears on Ben Harper and the Blind Boy's Of Alabama's DVD "Live At The Apollo." Two years ago Ford was asked to rejoin The Black Crowes and recorded their "All Join Hands" reunion tour while also continuing to work with Harper, appearing on his 2006 album "Both Sides of the Gun." After the 2006 release of the double CD and DVD "Into the Fog," Live At The Fillmore with The Black Crowes," Ford left the Black Crowes and began making plans to record "Weary and Wired." This significant recording shows Marc's strength as a singer/songwriter, fueled by large doses of his phenomenal guitar work that brings to mind such masters as Clapton, Hendrix and Beck.
Customer Reviews:
Marc Ford is the `blackest' of the Crowes!.......2007-07-13
WEARY AND WIRED is the most rock and roll album from a former Black Crowes member. When I heard Rich Robinson's PAPER I thought that he was the owner of the Crowes' sound, but after listening to Marc Ford I found that I was wrong. He's a gifted funky guitarist and also a good singer.
With influences by Hendrix, Tom Petty and the Crowes, this album is a great choice for any rock and roll, blues or soul lover...let's support the man buying his record, he wont disappoint you!
Surprisingly Good.......2007-07-10
Overall an excellent effort with surprisingly good production. Always a huge Marc Ford fan, particularly with the Black Crowes. After his recent hasty departure from the band, and reuniting with Burning Tree, I wasn't sure what to expect from this effort. Overall, I enjoy nearly all tracks, in particular 1000 Ways, Dirty Girl, Other Side, Currents. The 2 instrumentals Greasy Chicken & Big Call Back are funky and well recieved.
Bravo Marc...you are the man!
Smoke Signals.......2007-05-31
You have to support Marc Ford with his recent difficulties with the over-egotized Black Crowes. He was always the striking noise on Southern Harmony, and it probably wasn't his fault the albums went downhill after Amorica. His first solo album was an interesting venture, sounding almost Jayhawks-ish at times (with Louris as a guest on some tracks), but ultimately over-long.
Weary and Wired has the same troubles, and then some. My favorite cup of tea is '70s meat and potatos rock but somehow this doesn't quite come off. Most songs seem stunted or too simply constructed (if that can be a criticism of such a genre). I guess it's just that they're not that well conceived. I actually don't have a problem with Ford's singing because it's genuine, but his lyrics are bad even for meat and 'taters standards. Guitar-wise there are bursts of brilliance and slightly more room allowed to hear them, but in a world with the likes of Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks I don't know if this will hit the the note overall (to call Ford a great slide player is just a tad silly, and Haynes just seems to conquer at everything).
There's a lot of genre crossing here, from Free stompers to Southern not-quite fried to distorted blues. People have raved about The Same Thing and it is attention grabbing, but ultimately seems to rip off Jeff Beck circa Trust (also The Allman Brothers do a much meaner, improvised version on their recent tours). I guess that's the problem--probably too derivative and again too long (what's the point of Running Man Blues and Bye Bye Suzy, apart from the former's searing solo???).
In simple terms Marc Ford needs a band. Not the Black Crowes. Not Ben Harper. He needs a captivating singer, probably a co-writer, and he needs to thrust himself that way into the limelight. Then he can stick one to the Crowes. Watch out for the wanted ad.
A better guitarist there isn't..........2007-05-16
Marc Ford is an incredibly talented musician. This CD rips from the get-go! I could listen to the tones he gets for days, but his melodies are fantastic as well. Buy it and you won't be dissapointed. I just wish he could find a way to still make music with the Black Crowes.
Not bad, but expected more.......2007-05-09
I've heard Marc with other bands and expected a little more from this solo. Might have been the choice of songs, but it left me wanting more.

Best Hair Band.......2006-09-26
I am a huge Cinderella fan and think this album is almost perfect. The only negative thing I can say is that it lacks two great songs. Push Push and Nothing for Nothing are two great ones that are not here that should be. Other then that this is great rocking 80s. Cinderella was light years ahead of the worthless bands from the 80s like Poison and Motley Crew.
Rocked, Wired & Bluesed by the 80's baddest Cinderella!!!.......2006-09-06
Arguably, the best of the '80's Metal Bands. Never could figure out why they where so underrated, they had an amazing lead singer in Tom Keifer (What couldn't the man do.) and that Polygram did nothing for them. They had the talent to be another band that stays around like Aerosmith, just keeps you rockin' and begging for more.
With the Rocked, Wired and Bluesed greatest hits package. Their older fans already have these songs, it offers nothing new and only get these songs digital enhansed with the new technology. With no new goodies on this one, I just burned my own copy from their original releases and made a second disc (see track list below). Another draw back to this release it covers their early career well and leaves off too many good tracks from Heartbreak Station and Still Climbing. Now if your picking up this release as your first Cinderella album you will love this 17 song collection of their best hits. Also realize there's a bunch of tracks missing from this release, that should be on it. You definately will want to pickup all their releases, because they are that good of a band.
Now I mentioned that, I burned my copy of this from their Original releases and went a step further and burned a second disc with 17 tracks. Well here's the trackinglist of that disc:
Nothin' For Nothin', Once Around The Ride, In From The Outside, Second Wind, Take Me Back, Love's Got Me Doin'Time, Sick For The Cure, One For Rock And Roll, Make Your Own Way, Love Gone Bad, All Comes Down, Talk Is Cheap, Through The Rain, Easy Come, Easy Go, The Road's Still Long, Move Over and War Stories.
Just alright.......2006-08-25
This is an ok cd. I was expecting something better and thats really all I can say. I mean I do like a lot of the songs like 'shake me' and 'nobody's fool' but the finished product just didnt cut it for me. I'm fairly new to Cinderella and from what I heard of them I know their a good band just maybe they chose the songs that I like least from them. Maybe if I tried different albums instead.
Rad.......2006-01-11
I remember Cinderella in the 80s and early 90s. I still remembered their songs like Nobody's Fool and Don't Know What You Got. I am a regular at a local bar and they had a best of Cinderella in their jukebox and I played those songs. They still held up and I did take into account their solid musicianship. I got this CD I found it at Wal Mart for less than 10 bucks so I figured might as well. I even remembered when they sold out with Shelter Me. It took me back to the 80s and I didn't feel so nutty any more and for some reason I regained a lot of my looks I had- at least right now I don't physically look different. Their sound with Shelter Me it still sounds exactly the same as Nobody's Fool, etc, it's just it was watered down and not as initimidating. Get this if you miss 80s metal and don't care for newer MTV bands.
Tip Of The Iceberg.......2006-01-10
Forget all their greatest hits cd's. You need to buy each of their individual cd's. They only have 4 and every song is good.

One of his Best!.......2007-07-10
Wired was my first Beck record, yes vinyl from 1976, I still have it!
I have all of his records or CD's.. I think Wired and Blow by Blow are his best. Blue Wind is one of my favorite guitar tracks of his (of all time) also, this album turned me on to Jazz, I liked Goodbye Pork Pie Hat so much that I researched who Charles Mingus was, it all started from there. Over all an excellent album and a must have for any Jeff Beck fan!
A genius makes it look effortless.......2007-05-11
Wired (1976) Jeff Beck's sixth studio album.
I swear to God, if Jeff isn't a gift to the guitar, I don't know who is. It's truly amazing; he's the only guy I've listened to where it seems as though he said one day "I feel like making an awesome album". A year after putting out "Blow by Blow", Beck strikes back with something almost as good. "Wired" is another notch in Jeff's belt of great records.
One of the strongest tracks is the opener, a groovy piece called "Led Boots" which has also become a show standard. The entire album shines (which, by the way, is wholly instrumental), and other highlights include "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat", "Blue Wind", and "Love is Green". It's all very jazzy and fusion inspired, and is an album that anyone who is interested in guitar should listen to. Hey, if you're going to try the trade, you may as well listen to one of the gods.
Shines After 30 years.......2007-05-03
As a Korean kid growing up in then US Military Ruled Okinawa, "Japan" was introduced to Jeff Beck through local club bands, playing BBA and JBG. A band called "Condition Green" a US Miltary Curfue signal for personnel forbidden to stay in the Civilian zone when the locals revolted and demanded the island to be returned to Japan. Accordingly, local rock bands were out of gig when Condition Green happened. The guitarist in that band nailed Jeff, especially with the song "Situation" from Jeff Beck Group 1. When I came tp states in 1975 I was determind and almost obsessed by Jeff Beck. He was my hero then and now. My first concert was Jeff's Wired Tour, in an outdoor venue called Starlight Amphitheater in Burbank, California. - next to infamous Castaway restaurant. As a 18 year old with no car I went alone - having my parents drop me off. Little did I know my $5.95 ticket was 1st row - well little bit to the left but it was a great seat.
Show opened with British Funk band called UPP - probably friend of Beck or his favorite. Then for the mainshow - this guy in a strawhat playing on synthesizer, and drums and bass and a fiddler. Playing the licks that I never heard before. It was just amazing. Later it was revealved to me that this guy was Jan Hammer playing tunes from his band Jan Hammer Group. I was so blown away that I forgot about Jeff. Until he appeared in the spot light with the Group. They played almost all the tune from Wired and Blow by Blow.
I must admit CD cannot justify live Beck. But to this day I listen to Wired or BbB and still get blown away. I have seen beck since on his There and Back, the ARMS concert, Who Else, and You had it comming. I have to admit as masterful as Beck is .. he is easily influenced by his mood. and he is amazing when he is. But I have also seen him lose it. But that is what I love about the guy. He is real and true.
Did I say I also play the guitar. and I have been told that I have little bit of Beck in me. How dare they say that. I am just a person in his path that got influenced by his blow. hey, not that I am a bad player. But Beck's influence on me will always be there. I could still lay back in absorb all the great riff. analize his notes. In all fairness as great as Beck is, you cannot ignore the masterful playing of Jan Hammer in Blue Wind, Sophie. With his Moog/Oberheim combination that sounds a lot like guitar.
Get this CD and realize how great music can be,
ghj
A notch UP from Blow by Blow, how is that possible?.......2007-01-31
After the untoppable Blow by Blow, Beckola releases this intrumental masterpiece. His tone is dripping with emotion and the songs are better.
This is the best instrumental album of all time, and that's no mean feat.
wired rules!.......2006-11-13
This is my fav for guitar instrumentals. What I love about beck is that he is about tone and not about speed.most people think the faster your solos are the better, not true at all.beck has amazing melody and tone and is very technical and his leads and solos are amazing.a great album by my favorite guitarist.
Beck is very underated.he can play as good as any of the greats.he buries clapton, page.i would say hendrix and beck are the 2 best guitar players.both have great tone and similar styles.

Album Description
A great live band finally releases a live CD. It's a two disc set that includes all their fan favorites and hits.
Customer Reviews:
I never tire of this CD.......2007-07-17
From the moment I put Disc One of this two disc set on my stereo, I was hooked! This music just jumps from the speakers, I start to dance, and I crank up the volume. The mix seems to bother some people, but its recorded in a hot hall in Texas and in my mind it adds to the enjoyable flavor of the experience. I play it in the car, so I'm not bothered by the sound quality, which, really doesn't bother me too much anyway. The songs, the lyrics, the band giving it their all...I sing along every time! Now if you want issues with sound, my sung versions of these songs are a real problem.
one of the best live recordings I've heard.......2006-08-10
an honest & accurate variety of songs that spans their 10+ year career. maybe ppl who don't like the selection of songs prefers one old 97's style to another -- there are a few. some songs are more country twang-ish, while others are more mainstream and poppish. greatest attribute of this CD: next to no audience noise. greatest attribute of old 97's: they are AMAZING live.
-K
Weak Recording .......2005-12-07
Let's set up a hypothetical: You (the reader) and I (the reviewer) are sitting in some hip café talking about the greatest rock shows we've ever attended. You lay out your faves and I list mine. I say, "the Old 97's are definitely in my top three or four-I saw them a few years back in Portland, and they were just a great f***ing live band." You say: "Really? Do they have any live recordings?" And this is where my case gets weak.
On their eighth (counting the compilation Early Tracks that Bloodshot released in 2000), and first fully live album, the Old 97's serve up a two disc set recorded on two nights in the summer of 2005 in Gruene, Texas. Turns out, it's a perfect example of why they're such a fantastic live band-and why it'll never work to record their shows. In a telling moment of liner note honesty, 97's lead guitarist Ken Bethea admits, "I love that we don't really know how the songs end. I love that we don't rehearse. I love diving into solos head first with no idea of where I'm going and, if I crash and burn, snickering at the outcome and moving on."
It's true. It is indeed the 97's spontaneity that makes their shows so great to be a part of. It's also a recipe for disaster. The shame of the matter is that the two nights that comprise this two disc set have failed to capture the sound and the glory of the Old 97's balls-to-the-wall ability to really crank out a solid line of damn good songs. Is it the mix? Were they having off nights? So excited about the two-disc set they were recording that they went too far? I'm not sure-perhaps it was some form of each of these. In defense of the performances (independent of their recording), the audience seemed to love them.
The first real clue that the project hasn't met its potential shows up three tracks in. Barrier Reef was originally released on Too Far to Care, but shows up as a live radio appearance on the bonus disc of Satellite Rides. The Satellite Rides version is (in the not-so-humble opinion of this reviewer) one of the best rock songs ever laid down. On Alive & Wired, the song falls far short. The question then: Why release another, obviously lesser, version? Well, it's always an odd situation when a band covers itself poorly-and that is what the Old 97's have done here. Mostly.
That said, there are tracks here that come close to surpassing other previously recorded versions. Examples: the vintage Four Leaf Clover, Lonely Holiday, and certainly the recording of Stoned presented here is also of note. While I can't say that the latter is better than the studio version found on the band's debut, Hitchhike to Rhome, the presentation on Alive & Wired is aptly served by Rhett Miller's dogged live voice. Miller, the lead singer, primary songwriter, and the true driving force behind the 97's, is his usual exuberant self here-especially on the second night/disc. His lyrics and subsequent delivery of them has always been the cornerstone of the band's sound, and in that regard, the songs remain intact. His opening lyric for Stoned is well suited for the disjointed proceedings:
Well, I must've been stoned when this whole thing started
Cause I just can't seem to think straight anymore
Can't figure out where I'm at
Maybe Memphis, maybe Mexico
Stoned is an emblematic 97's song, and fortunately, it is done justice here. It leaves me wondering, though, why it is in such a disturbing minority on Alive & Wired. Well, at least, one of the thirty songs recorded survives and shines through.
I admit that my reaction to this whole mess of a live album could just be a true 97's fan acting out the disappointment derived from overblown expectations. Or, maybe I wish I had had the opportunity to be there in Gruene Hall with all the other folks, and heard it for myself. So, like Ken Bethea and his solos, I guess I'll just snicker at the outcome and move on.
Yep. That's Them Live!!.......2005-12-04
This is one of the best live bands you will ever see. If you can't go to a show, get this CD. Boy, does this capture the essence of a live show by the boys! The mix of songs is perfect! I only wish I could have been there! (Believe me, I would have if I could have!) I *think* I understand what the reviewer was trying to say about the mix...true, Ken's guitar doesn't blow you away like it does during a live show (Ken's solo during "Smokers" will make you see sparks) ...but y'know? This is a darned fine CD set...from Murry's "HEL-lo ever-body!" to the roar of applause at the end. It takes me back to their live stuff in St. Louis, Milwaukee, Texas, LA, DC, and everywhere else I've had the good fortune to see the band.
I intend to have a listening party this winter...cocktails, heavy appetizers...and introduce this band to my friends. (Yes, you're invited!) This will be the CD I use to do it. (And of course, the live DVD!)
Come On, Ken's Guitar at ear bleeding levels is a must?.......2005-10-18
I think everyone agrees that the band is a hot live act and I think this CD will be a wonderful introduction for anyone not familiar with the band. But, the mix is true to what you get live and what you get on most live albums. I hear Ken's guitar at a reasonable level throughout the CD and disagree that he should be featured. Yeah they could have bumped one or two solos up, but hey, often at a live show the soundman forgets that bump. What you get on this CD is all their best songs (sadly no "Victoria"), fan favorites and deep cuts played with the kind of beautiful slop that would make the Stones proud. Now if you want some sheen and an overly mixed live album then check out Frampton Comes Alive or KISS Alive II.

I always look for bands that sound different. This band has their own sound. The sound is something unique. Reminds of nothing out there. It amazes me how groups like this fly under the radar. Easily one of the best albums of 2006. I only wish I had found out about them sooner. Excellent cd!!!!
Is it possible...?.......2007-02-28
It's possible this is my favorite CD ever. Honestly, I'm a little reluctant to say so, but I think it's the truth. Every time I listen to this album (which is at least once a day) I am blown away. Please, please give this CD a try.
Best record of 2006?.......2007-01-21
I am pretty much in awe of "Break Out the Battle Tapes," the debut from Wired All Wrong, AKA Matt of sElf and Jeff of God Lives Underwater.
What does it sound like? Well, it's the melodies and harmonies of sElf with the computars of GLU. It's hard underpinnings with poppy-sweet vox and pep atop. It's Matt's bratty diction with Jeff's electrogrunge.
It's brilliant. It's the most enjoyable record I've heard in ages. Only one track ("After All") flops, and that's relative. The rest are ingenious, infectious and marvelous. GET IT!!!
WOW for WAW!.......2006-12-09
I still can't get over how amazing this album is. When I first heard the early versions of some of these songs I wasn't sure about the direction they were headed in. But after a few listenings I started to love its electronica pop rockiness. I could not tell you what songs I don't like, when is the last time you bought at album that you could say that? The perfect void filler for the sElf fan. Hell, I may not even need another sElf album. Of course I could just be wired all wrong.
Best Album of the Year.......2006-10-20
I haven't heard an entire album that knocked my socks off like this one in YEARS! My husband bought this immediately after it was released and it hasn't left the disc player since. This album is so incredibly outstanding that I just cant help but listen to it all day. If you have ever enjoyed Self or Matt Mahaffey or God Lives Under Water you MUST purchase this album, you wont regret it.

Album Description
As a co-founder of best-selling Irish instrumental outfit Lunasa and current member of Celtic favorites Capercaillie, flautist and piper Michael McGoldrick has played a great part in expanding the audience for Irish and British Isles instrumental music with his expert technique and visionary sensibilities. His genius for wedding traditional styles with contemporary textures has made him a welcomed contributor to albums and performances by such acclaimed contemporary roots artists as Kate Rusby, Sharon Shannon, and the Afro-Celt Sound System. Wired is the long-awaited follow-up to his groundbreaking 2000 album Fused, and finds McGoldrick and producer/keyboardist Donald Shaw (Capercaillie, Karan Casey, Karen Matheson) surrounding McGoldrick's fluid, soulful performances and compositions with a startling variety of rhythmic backdrops. From spacious jazz trappings to surging Indian percussion, electronic loops to bluegrass banjo, Wired brilliantly harnesses the rhythmic momentum of Celtic music while pushing into new sonic realms.

High replay value.......2006-05-23
This is a bold piece of work. With the first listening, I felt it was a bit silly and at times bordering the "New Age" but as with any great music, several listenings are reqiured. Sure the playing is top notch, but I expect that from Michael. What really stands out here is the sound of the album, the play list and ultimately the mood that is created. Sonicly this album is in many ways on par with Bob Dylan's amazing "Time Out of Mind", a true studio masterpiece.
With "Wired" McGoldrick has raised the bar of what "Celtic" based music is capable of being and sounding like. Far more sophisticated and mood inhancing then Afro Celt, and just as burning but more adventurous then Lunasa could ever be. I wouldn't want all of my Celt music to sound this way, I'm still a sucker for the trad, but this is a must have album for any audiophile or Celt fan.
A Gem & a Joy.......2006-05-15
Hold the presses on 2005's folk album of the year! Mancunian wizard of flute, whistle and uilleann pipes Michael McGoldrick has produced another brilliant solo album. "Wired" is a rich fusion of styles including jazz, funk and World-beat. Yet it retains an essentially Irish core. This may be McGoldrick's special gift to traditional music: to have somehow liberated the inherent funk, the sheer wild syncopated bliss of Celtic music for a 21st century audience. (That my teenage daughter anticipated the album as much as her 50-something father is testament to this.)
Of course McGoldrick is not alone in this venture. Band mates from Capercaillie are there - especially Donald Shaw, who produced the album, co-wrote a number of tunes and plays a range of keyboards. Asian spice is supplied by Parv Bharat's scintillating tabla and James Mackintosh's burbling udu. Plus there's an uncredited (sampled?) Asian singer on "Sophie's". This is a stand-out track, a fascinating fusion of many music styles that somehow coheres. It bodes well for the role music might play in bringing disparate cultures closer togther.
Jazzy touches also suffuse the album, with Neil Yates' trumpet and flugelhorn and Signy Jacobsdottir's marimba surprisingly at home amongst the folk fiddles of Dezi Donnelly and John McCusker. Bridging all styles superbly is Ewen Vernal's upright bass. But of course it's McGoldrick's kaleidoscopic playing that gives the album its strongest colours. Whether on slow and soulful wooden flute ("Strange Journey"); frenetic low whistle ("The Jolly Tinker"); or blazing pipes ("The Sporting Days of Easter"), he seems at the height of his powers. This album is both a gem and a joy.

Get the facts straight!!!.......2006-09-18
Guys... Peterson was not involved on this cd. Please, check your facts before posting a review!!! This was Leeb and Fulber before Fulber left to do production work with Fear Factory etc... This is in my opinion more of a magnum opus than tactical neural implant. TNI was very good and danceable, (I still rate it as a 5) but Hard Wired took the electronic presence from that album, united it with touches of the guitar sensibilities from Millenium, and created a hybrid product that was greater than both. If anyone wants a comparison, it's darker than TNI, airier than Millenium, but much darker than Flavour of the Weak.
More Great Industrial Music From Leeb & Fulber.......2006-06-15
I wouldn't call this my favorite FLA cd, but it comes pretty close. This is kind of a mix of FLA style's. It's not as abrasive as Caustic Grip, Not as danceable as TNI or FLAvour of the weak, and not as metal as Millennium. It does however incorporate the styles of all the ones I just mentioned. Take those four Cd's and put them in a blender and you have Hardwired.
Neologic Spasm 10 This is a epic industrial masterpiece. I always wondered why it never got as much respect as I think it deserves. Awesome opening sample. Not as good as the movie samples from Millennium but pretty darn good anyway. This song has everything from dark opera chants, chaotic noise, and a great heavy beat that could get a quadruple amputee to dance.
Paralyzed 10 As good as Neologic Spasm. More danceable, and not as dark. Leeb & Fulber and Leeb & Peterson are genius's. In my opinion they are as good as Key and Goettel of Skinny Puppy. I love both bands equally. The most amazing thing about these guys is the endless variety and quality of there music from FLA, Noise Unit, old Delerium, protech, and Synaesthesia. And those are the ones I have heard so far. They actually have about 20 more Cd's that I have yet to hear. So far everything I have from them is special. Anyways the point I am trying to make in this long winded diatribe is that in this song alone there are more quality hooks, and beats than some bands have in there entire catalogue.
Re-Birth 7.5 Another very solid song. Personally it doesn't grab me like the first two do, but I still love it. Also 7.5 is still a pretty good rating since I grade FLA and Skinny Puppy songs on a curb. So 7.5 here might be a 8 or 9 with most other bands.
Circuitry 9 Very good beats, synth's, and chorus. There is some good guitar in this song, but they are not in the fore-front of the mix. Speaking of guitar's there are a lot of FLA fans who don't like them. I on the other hand being a Rivet/Metal head always thought that Leeb & Fulber should start a side project with Al Jourgenson of Ministry. That would be the best Industrial metal project ever. That's just wishful thinking though.
Mortal 8 Kind of a cool instrumental with perfect sample's from Dawn of the Dead.
Modus Operandi 10 This is truly Leeb at his most Diabolical sounding moment. Everything about this song is t!ts.
Transparent Species 9 Too many things for me to try to describe here. This is probably the most layered and complex song on this Cd.
Bar-code 8.5 I cant figure out what the sample in the beginning is saying. It sounds like one of those backwards messages. This song has a great atmosphere. Very catchy but in a good way.
Condemned 10 This one sounds like it belongs on Millennium. This song brings beauty, anger, and intensity. One of my favorite parts of the Cd.
Infra Red Combat 10 They saved the best for last. This one starts off slow, but it gradually builds into a juggernaut of a industrial anthem. This song is so good that at one time I didn't own this Cd for about a year and I still could play parts of this song in my head. Definitely one of the band's crowning achievements.
If you are already a FLA fan you have this Cd. If you are curious I would say this is a good place to start.
Sci-fi horror in your music is what you need ? Get this !.......2006-01-12
A hard and heavy FLA album with a bit more of that fear that makes you grip onto your chair than most of their other albums have, except of course 'CAUSTIC GRIP', now that is as cold as it gets, but this is on the other side of the fear scale, as I get a feverish fear feeling from this cd. This album is almost like The Black album was for Metallica, I'm not saying it sounds anything like it, but FLA have grown into a competent beast and at the same time have become a bit too cliched, but this is still an excellent cd with lots of interesting aspects that will make you think "f$#k, this is pretty good music" especially upon first listen. It's quite hard to say this isn't a good listen. There's quite alot of that early 90's sci-fi movies feeling here, which works really well. The BASS lines are incredible, plus there are guitars on this album which I don't like that much, but they don't really bother me either like they did on the 'MILLENIUM' album.
Hard Wired is worth having in your cd collection, but make sure you also get Caustic Grip, Gashed Senses and Crossfire, and Tactical Neural Implant. Total Terror II is a must have if you like simple effective beats with samples and a jumpy bassline, very early 80's typical electro/synth that is fun to hear again and again.
Hard Wired is as the name implies, it is a hard album with wires hooked up to the guitars and synthesizers. The result is a very chaotic ensemble of hard driving syth/bass, haunting samples, and a rhythm guitar that takes the music into a more organic form, but still retaining their purpose which is to accompany the lyrics which are mainly focused around disease, epidemic, war, murder, death, all envisioned in a sci-fi perspective. The vocals on track 6 are amazing. One must hear this album in order to fully appreciate it.
Hard Wired: A darker complex sound to FLA.......2005-06-21
This album reminded me so much of early on Delerium, dark electronica mixed with deep ambience and a dark vocals. I enjoyed the sounds of this CD and FLA is ever evolving - Leeb & Peterson are moving into a new direction with this intended CD. I just hope they don't go into the pop version that modern Delerium has ventured into. Overall FLA with this album 'Hardwired' has given notice that the genre is alive and kicking and they are at the forefront of industrial gothica. I enjoyed a number of songs but all the songs were listenable from the first to the last.
My favourite songs were 'Mortal' and 'Modus Operandi', these two songs had glimpses of aspects of later albums of FLA would have - songs that one could dance to and easy to remix.
Takes on almost an organic-like form.......2005-05-25
I actually give this 4.5 stars.
Infra Red Combat is right up there with my favorite `industrial' songs of all time. I love music that builds and builds into a mound of emotion and sound, and this song does just that. The whole album almost takes on an organic-like form. Every piece twists and grows through amazingly talented instrumentation, vocals and lyrics. I'm not even going to attempt to analyze every track or do a long drawn out comparison from previous albums, because I'm just not good at doing that. I will, however, tell you this is (in my opinion) Front Line Assembly's finest piece of work. I have listened to this album countless times from start to finish and it never fails to amaze me.

Almost winning.......2000-11-17
This is not a hard album to review, in fact it is one of the most straightforward albums you could imagine. None of the songs are very innovative, but the overall impression generated is one of satisfaction. The opening track, 'Bombollini' is well constructed with an excellent rythmn section, and 'Ace of Hearts' is an up tempo ballad which works well. The title track remains my favourite, with a catchy tune and wonderful slide guitar.
Time appears to have passed this album by; the next few releases from Chris Rea were probably his best to date, but this album is still worth a listen.
Fire to ice.......2000-10-10
Originally released two years before his commercial breakthrough, 1986's "On the beach", "WTTM" is one of Rea's overlooked early albums. Unlike his later work, which is much more vocal- and guitar-centered, the music of "WTTM" is primarily arranged for keyboards, with guitars often providing sonic texture instead of functioning as a lead instrument. Rea also plays most of the other instruments. Lyrically, "WTTM" doesn't venture beyond the tenets of pop music - Rea writes love songs to his wife and his daughter. While this concept is rarely challenging and not nearly as interesting as his late-'80s/early-'90s themes, the music on "WTTM" is very pleasant and doesn't sound too outdated. More important, nearly every song would qualify for radio airplay. "Bombollini", in particular, delivers a densely percussive sound with wonderful guitar/marimba/keyboard exchanges. The 6 1/2-minute "Winning" truly lives up to its title and features a Stonesy guitar riffs. The album's best known songs, however, are the title track, "I don't know..", and the ballad "Ace of hearts", the latter being re-recorded by Rea for his hit compilation "New light through old windows". With lots of different guitar/keyboard textures, uncommon drum rhythms and clean production, "WTTM" is one of Rea's most interesting performances. But since he's a very good singer/songwriter as well, all these features turn "WTTM" into one of the best albums Rea has ever made.

Brent Mason - Hot Wired.......2007-01-12
First Album of Brent Mason issued c1997. This album is something of a holy grail for guitarists but well worth the trouble and expense of finding and buying a copy. Brent Mason is possibly THE premiere Nashville session guitarist and according to ledgend (well his web site anyway) is possibly the most recorded guitarist ever. He also seems to collect music awards for fun. Phew! Anyone who wants to know what the fuss is about should beg, borrow, steal or otherwise acquire the title track 'Hot Wired' and marvel at the technique and musicianship. It's some thing else. The album as a whole has a number of different styles and arguably is a hotchpot. But it is all good stuff. Brent Mason has, with his brother Randy, since released another album (Smokin Section 2006) but to the wider world may remain relatively unknown. DO NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE. Buy all his stuff and know you are investing in a genius at work.
Country and More!!.......2005-10-21
I was fortunate and bought this CD when it was first released. I'm not a country music fan, but Brent makes you listen.I love this CD,for I am basically a jazz person. I wish this guy would do a jazz cd. He can play anything he wishes. Brent Mason is one of the best guitar players in the world
Brent Mason......String Master.......2004-03-05
I have yet to hear any of Brent Mason's guitar playing that is not top of the line! No wonder he's the most sought after session guitarist in the world.
Please re-issue Hot Wired.......2003-11-20
I would love to own this CD but they are going for $25.00 + on ebay. Seeing as they are going for so much, and there are so few being sold, how about printing a few more for guitar lovers & players like me?
I own the Hot Licks video and it is great also.

"Don't Try This At Home!".......2003-11-14
Brent Mason is one of the best guitar players in the world! But, as his wife, I am extremely prejudiced! Since Hot Wired's release Brent has been so busy simply working that another CD has been out of the question, but due to constant pressure from the music industry and fans alike, Brent should be in the studio recording a NEW album of originals that should be released by mid-2004. The tounge-in-cheek title "Don't Try This at Home" will definitely include more of his hot chickin'pickin' than Hot-Wired to keep listeners happy, but since Brent's true love is soulful jazz, expect to find that included as well.
