If Purple Haze and Fire are all the Hendrix you know, then...give this album a listen. There is a nice variety of tracks- from hard rockin' blues to mellow instrumentals. The variation of Voodoo Chile is worth the whole disc. I was pleasantly suprised with this CD.
Wow!.......2006-11-06
Back in the 60's, I did not realize how great a blues guitarist that Jimi Hendrix was... he was presented to us as an innovative "psychedelic" phenom, and after 35 years, this CD has shown me what I didn't realize before..he could also play the blues..could he play the blues! And I thought that I knew my music...I am humbled by the music on this CD...incredible!
If you don't have the Box Set.......2006-09-27
If you don't have the Box Set I would get this if only for 'Country Blues'. I thought the family had released all of the important recordings by the Master, but this is one someone denied us we now can study. I am very happy to hear these new versions of his standards. 'Georgia Blues' is a great workout with Lonnie Youngblood I didn't know existed. I could go on but seriously if you are a Hendrix fan, get this CD & be refreshed.
A true blue Hendrix nugget.......2006-03-26
Martin Scorcese is a true music lover (his soundtracks testify to that) and, he was assistant director at the mother of all festivals - Woodstock! The hendrix compile is superb because he doesn't restict the selection to the obvious trad. style blues tracks.
Hendrix played what could have become the modern blues - and this cd (alongside 'The Blues') provides true recognition to the man who could bring you the primitive and the futuristic at the same time.

"Country Blues" is my favorite!
This is just one of the many Jimi Hendrix CDs I have and I'll continue to buy more from Amazon.com, my favorite online store!
