In the deluxe-edition of the LP 'The Beatles' First' released in Germany in 1964, this very exciting period is extensively documented. There's not only music, but a 28-page booklet based on facts, which shed some light on what really happened. In addition to the newly remastered tracks of the original release, CD 1 includes two variations of the first Beatles single 'My Bonnie' as bonus tracks. CD 2 is comprised of original recordings in mono, including both versions of 'My Bonnie' as well as two other Tony Sheridan recordings form his Beatles' phase. Universal. 2004.

In the First British Pressing, the Album was Titled "Tony Sheridan and the Beatles" the First Release Ever with the Band's Real Name. In the Booklet, the Rolling Stone Editor Joachim Hentschel Unfolds the Beatles' Hamburg Phase in an Enthralling Way and Tells the Story of How the Four Youths from Liverpool Came to Be the Greatest Pop Band in Music History.

Sounds Great.......2005-02-05

Sound quality is fantastic considering the ERA (Mid Sixies)for the release, early sixties for the recordings. 2 CDs with the stereo on CD 1 and mono on CD 2. This is one of the better sounding early Beatles CDs. Lacking a few songs ( Ready Teddy and Kansas City) though from that era. Could have included the the extra songs that where on (The Early Tapes of) from the same company 'Polydor'. I would have given it a five if they would have added those 2 songs. The book that comes with this is in both German and English and it appears that the are saying the same thing, no earth shaking information but written well. I am very pleased with the sound and quality of the set. The price is a little steep. But all of the Deluxe Editions are this steep. This is a must get for the Beatles fans. Now all that is needed is to fix up the Star Club tapes.

Not a bad CD for the price you pay........2000-06-24

This CD is not a bad deal for the price you pay, however, if it were any more expensive it would be a horrible deal. The CD is good but it's not the type of CD that you listen to and it makes you want to go out a buy every Beatles CD ever made, but it is something that is quite enjoyable and is definitely worth the money you spend on it.

If it's REALLY what you're looking for, you'll be pleased........2005-07-21

I'm not sure what bollixed up Ms. Mulcahy's order -- she has my sympathies -- perhaps a data base error that has since been fixed. In any case, if what _you're_ looking for is delightful "light classical" music of the brass variety -- think Canadian Brass or Empire Brass -- this is a CD you will certainly enjoy. One of the pieces, the Quartet for Brass by Steve Scott, was recently used as a segue on NPR's "All Things Considered," and seduced me totally in thirty seconds. If the sound of brass brightens your day, give NBV a try.

yeah,...i thought i was buying the 5th Ramsoe quartet on a Bartok cd...what was I thinking? Amazon.com is TERRIBLE!!!! there is no Ramsoe Cd....see the track description...this is very incorrect. it includes bartok piano works, seven sketches, sonata 1926, fifteen hungarian peasant songs AND dances, four dirges, and allegro barbaro. sound like amazon.com's description...nope! they suck balls!

Really like the trueness of sound, very Beatles without the vocals, which is what I was looking for but at times the production quality is really lacking. Sometimes sounds like it was recorded in a garage and other times clean as can be.

With great American folk classics like "I've Been Working on the Railroad" done as a guitar instrumental to allow children to use their imagination in creating visuals for the music, "Oh! Susanna" played with a harmonica that brings out the songs' country roots, and a simple, unique arrangement of "Old McDonald Had a Farm" that makes kids laugh out loud and ask their parents to play it over and over again, Mr. David is able to tap into the warm, comforting feelings of America's golden, pioneering age.

He combines classics with old world tunes like "Old King Cole," its mandolin rhythms and deep vocals reminiscent of medieval Europe, and newer, African-drum inspired tracks like, "African Spirit Walk."

Even the newer, original songs have a simple, old feel about them. His original, Johnny Cash/Beatles-influenced tune "Yum" pulls together a cacophony of instruments and vocals into a raucously fun sound that is a bit of "Yellow Submarine" and a Shel Silverstein-inspired rock n' roll kidÂ's band--pots, pans, the kitchen sink and all.

Love this CD.......2006-10-19

I usually don't write reviews for products. But I love the CD so much that I have to write about it. My son (2 yrd) loves it too. It has familiar songs with intereting twists. I usually play kids music in the car for my son, and I got sick of all those songs over and over again. With Mr David's songs, my whole family never got bored. My son would also imitate the sounds Mr David makes in the CD. highly recommend.
