Great Live Foghat.......2005-09-10
Although 1977's FOGHAT LIVE remains the definitive live document of Foghat, this CD is also exceptional. It features shows from 1974 and 1976, plus an interview with the band. You must add this album to your Foghat library if you haven't already done so.
Foghat - 'King Biscuit Flower Hour' (King Biscuit).......2005-06-17
A true hard rock classic!Recorded live sometime in 1976 plus with a couple of tracks from 1974.Great sound quality. You cannot go wrong here.So many memories were made with these songs(and kids, too)I'm sure.Tracks you'll most likely find yourself playing over until your CD player requires a good cleaning are the scorching opener "Fool For The City","My Babe",the ten-minute "Slow Ride","Eight Days On The Road" and "I Just Want To Make Love To You".Plus, the nine-minute interview is interesting to check out.
Awesome stuff. Slow Ride alone makes it worthwhile........2003-01-30
Foghat's King Biscuit Flower Hour release should definitely be anyone's live Foghat CD of choice. It's an awesome show, and the band is on fire. The highlights of this CD are awesome, killer versions of Slow Ride and I Just Want To Make Love To You, both clocking in at over ten minutes. Rod Price's slide guitar on these songs is just amazing. Sound quality is very good and there are informative liner notes. This is definitely worth owning for fans of the group or hard rock/blues rock in general.
SOOOO MUCH BETTER than the "Live" album!.......2001-03-26
First of all I have to say that FOGHAT was an excellent band (studio AND live) in the 70's, and I'm right sick of hearing about how they were just some "arena" act. This band knew the blues to it's CORE! FOGHAT took the blues to it's hard rock peak and should be recognized as one of the great rock bands of all time. I also believe that ROD PRICE is the most underrated & under appreciated SLIDE guitar player in the history of rock n roll.
Of course their live shows were awesome and full of energy. After 20+ years of living with the sterile, commercially restrained "LIVE" album from 1977, this KING BISCUIT live cd came as a GODSEND to the people who know what this band was REALLY like, in a live setting!
The CD features 6 tracks from the NIGHT SHIFT tour of 1976, plus 3 ESSENTIAL live versions of "HOME IN MY HAND", "EIGHT DAYS ON THE ROAD" and "I JUST WANT TO MAKE LOVE TO YOU" from 1974. The latter featuring a rave-up intro by Lonesome Dave. It includes a line that you'd NEVER hear on the "commercially safe" LIVE album; goes a little something like.. "I Don't want your money, no I don't want your money... I SAID I DON'T WANT YOUR F*#!*&! MONEY!!( The "Live" album leaves out the F*#!*&!) The inclusion of the "F*#!*&!" just adds a little passion and "arse kickin" attitude into an already GREAT live CD.
There's also the bonus interview track; a portion of an interview with Lonesome Dave concerning Foghat's approach to their live shows. The track is 9 1/2 minutes long, but because of Dave's slow explanation, he only hits on about 3 or 4 points. It's still a somewhat interesting interview though and it's always great to hear insight from the artist.
Overall, this is an OUTSTANDING live release. If you're a FOGHAT fan, RUN don't WALK to buy this CD! Trust me, you've been waitng nearly 24 years to own a REAL live album from this excellent band.
I wish that there was a "part two" available that featured other great FOGHAT songs like the foot stomping "TERRAPLANE BLUES", "HIGHWAY (KILLING ME)" or "MAYBELLINE", which is the best send up of the Chuck Berry classic ever put to tape.
p.s Someone below stated that FOGHAT was "THE" live attraction of 1976. Although I definately think they were one of the very best, I believe that KISS would more accurately hold that title.
THE BEST OF THE BOOGIEMEN.......2000-03-04
This live CD captures Foghat during their peak. Aggresive, raw, energetic, and full of stompin' boogie music, Foghat played the best of it out of all the other bands that tried. The King Biscuit concert is a better showcase of the band as a live act than Road Cases, which was released awhile back, but that's good nonetheless. Although their are only 6 tracks on here, 4 bonus cuts from a 1974 show are tacked on, and lastly there is a lengthy interview at the end, giving you some input on who Foghat really was.

Zebra - 'King Biscuit' (King Biscuit Flower Hour).......2004-03-18
Anyone but myself remember Zebra?Sure you do,they're the trio that made TV appearances on MTV,Rock Concert, etc when they first hit the scene. Many fans thought they reminded them of Rush.Actually it's been noted that Zeppelin was their main influence.King Biscuit had released this CD which includes segments from two live performances.Houston,TX in 1983 and Long Island(their hometown) in 1985.Randy Jackson's Page-like guitar licks and Geddy Lee-like vocals sound nothing short of true brilliance here. All eight tracks here wail, but to refresh your memory, there's "Who's Behind The Door?",the beautiful ballad "Bears",the "La La Song","I Don't Care" and "Tell Me What You Want" that make me sit up and take notice. There's also a twenty minute interview that reveals that Zebra STILL exists.
Guitar Classics.......2000-07-02
This band can really take your mind away with great Guitar works throughout the whole show. The singer came up strained in trying to hit the notes in "Tell Me What You Want" but the interview is fun, especially if you love their hits but don't know much about the bands history (just an extra bonus). The album itself is worth hearing the guitar melodies.
Zebra:Live and Loud.......1999-07-19
Randy Jackson and the boyz are captured in this early live performance. The sound quality isn't as good as Live, but it gives one the sense of being there. I have been a fan since the begining. I have never seen them live and in person. But it's the next best thing to being there. Other King Biscuit CD's to check out:Triumph, Romantics and Blackfoot.
Brief but nice..........1999-07-09
I'd never have a bad word to say about the boys, but the disc itself left me wanting more. The sound quality is about par, but the band's playing is as tight as ever. Randy opens with a nice quick acoustic-riff intro to "Door." The interview is one of those must-have items for fans like myself. I'm just looking for Zebra to do another show near here!

Customer Reviews:
I WAS THERE !!!.......2007-06-21
Yes, it's True, I was at Winterland that night and it was indeed Quite a SHOW. The Doors Opened right on Time at 6:30 and of course we headed for the Floor, This was Humble Pie !!! So, we were gonna be Down Front, Outta the Way, Hipsters. This ain't no Quicksilver Show, this was Mighty English Rock at it's Finest and we were STOKED, and very STONED.
First band on Stage: STEELY DAN, The Original Band with Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter on Guitar & David Palmer on Vocals. The Dan ROCKED !!! They Played almost everything from their Classic first Record, and "Do it Again" featured a Mean Solo of 'Plastic Organ' as Donald Fagen, called it. We all knew these guys would be Headliners the next time they came to Town, {They DIDN'T Tour again for over 20 YEARS!}.
The Middle Group was the: "Glam Band of the Week...SLADE. I had never heard of this Lot, BUT, they had had a Number One Hit in England, So here they be in all their Glory and Glitter, The Lead Guitar Player looked like a Martian and he had "ODD GOB" written on his Silver Suit. The Band KISS stole lot's of Ideas from these Boys, I never met a soul who actually Bought one of their Records, Ever.
Well, after almost an hour...TA DAAAA....HUMBLE PIE !!! And Loudly, they cranked out; "Up Our Sleeve", there is only One word to describe this assualt on our senses, POWER !!! The second Tune? What else, could it be but "4 Day Creep" from the "Live at the Filmore Record", When the Crowd heard the First Notes of this, We all went NUTS. Next Steve introduced the Back-Up Singers: The Blackberries, and sat at a White Hammond organ, and launched into "Black Coffee" with a Dirty Rap Directed Right at the Girls and what he had planned to do to them after the Show, this is not on the King Biscuit Master because of the Subject Matter {it's R Rated).
There were a few more 'Soul Numbers' performed, and just in time Steve jumped up from behind his Big Organ {His Pun, Not Mine} and Got back to Serious Rock Business once again with a KILLER: "Stone Cold Fever" that went on & on, it was Plenty longer than the "Filmore" version, It was Majestic and had some really pretty playing in the Middle section, the Guitar Leads by Clem and Steve were Amazing! This one Needs to see the light of Day again, and alas, it ISN'T on this CD...$#!*
Also, not included is the Long, long version of "Rollin' Stone" they played that Night, again this would be due to the Lyric Content as they are very sexual, BUT, this version was way different from the other live Version and is also merits an Official Release.
I am glad "30 Days" made it to the Record, BUT, again there is an EDIT here as Steve introduced it with a long funny Rap, that is Not here as well as ANOTHER Rap right in the middle of this Crowd pleaser. It isn't included as well, This Song could be from Another Night, and Not the May 6 Winterland show, if it IS Winterland, it's a great Edit.
Some of the best Stuff IS here: "Halleluah, I Love her So" and "Hot N' Nasty" were SMOKIN'...these are the Best versions of these Pie Classics, out there. The Show closed with "Doctor", and again this was a great version. The encore on this night was "Honky Tonk Woman" and then "Roadrunner". It was all over by 2AM {The Official Winterland Closing Time}, if a show ran later than that they Closed the doors and became a "Private Party" until dawn.
I do wish we had the ENTIRE SHOW here, (it would take 2 CD's) because there is less than half of The Pie's set included here. But, I doubt that will ever happen. This was a GREAT NIGHT at Winterland, and I will always Remember just How GREAT it was to see this Band Up-Close.
FOUR STARS...
Humble Pie - 'King Biscuit Flower Hour: In Concert' (King Biscuit).......2007-02-20
This is one King Biscuit Flower Hour CD that until here recently, I avoided because Peter Frampton had already left the band. Foolish me! 'King Biscuit' is a must-have archive recording. If you've ever been a true Humble Pie fan, you're sure to dig this ten track S-M-O-K-I-N' disc as much as I did, if not more. Frampton's replacement, guitarist Dave Clempson did a great job of filling in. This gig took place on May 6, 1973 at the Winterland Theater in San Francisco. Sound quality is great, I thought. Couldn't ask for more. Tunes that'll have me listening to my radio a bit less are "Four Day Creep", "C'Mon Everybody", their Stones cover "Honky Tonk Woman", Humble Pie's staple "30 Days In The Hole", the blues rock standard "Roadrunner" (wish I had a dime for every band that's played this tune), and the rousing "I Don't Need No Doctor". Question: does British blues rock get much better than this? I say, no it doesn't.
The Real Rock N Roll Goods!.......2007-01-21
You know, I like the Black Crowes. Really, I do. But every time I listen to them I get the feeling that something's missing, especially in regards to their live cds. So, when it's time scratch a serious rock n roll itch, this is where I turn!
Comparing this or Rockin' The Filmore to any of the live Crowe releases makes it clear that the Pie was the real deal!! Steve Marriott was an incredible vocalist/showman and the band as a whole just rocks!
IMHO this KBFH release is so good (Hot And Nasty is worth the price alone!) that it's even better than Rockin' The Filmore - which is a stone classic in it's own right. The track listings are distinct enough that you should own both of them.
wish it was here.......2006-07-10
I have heard this LP before. I am buying it for an 18 year old Finlander female that never heard of Humble Pie nor Steve Marriott. The only bad thing is I have been waiting for over a month and it was for her birthday in June. Aside from the long time for delivery I was well aware of the way better recording on the Biscuit as opposed to the Filmore.
Steve freakin Marriott.......2005-11-18
This album is absolutely amazing. It is quite possibly my favorite live recording, and always blows my mind when i hear it. I shouldn't even waste your time by reviewing this for you, it just isnt necessary. Buy this then watch it burn your cd player.

Power, Emotion, Mysticism, Virtuosity...it's all here, live........2006-07-17
In the mid-70's, my younger brother and I would do our high school homework in separate rooms, listen to the radio, and yell out which station to tune into for the next great song. More often than not, it was Rochester's WSAY, a great and truly progressive rock station (on the AM dial!).
I only mention this because it was only there that you could hear in frequent rotation such classic songs as "Ice" by Crack the Sky, "Free Hand" by Gentle Giant, "Nowhere's Too Far For My Baby" by Frampton, or "Day of the Eagle" by Robin Trower. A belated "thank you" to WSAY for opening up my musical mind.
At that time, I was a folk-rock junkie beginning the transformation into a prog rock champion. I was not a fan of the blues, and I did not yet fully appreciate heavy electric guitar; but I knew there was talent and emotion in Trower's music, and I became an avid closet Trower collector and listener long after WSAY changed formats. This recording of a King Biscuit Flower Hour performance from 1977 shows Trower at his peak, and is a treasure for anyone who ever fell in love with this Englishman's unique style of electric blues/acid rock guitar.
James Dewar's vocals are great (always reminded me of David Clayton Thomas [from Blood, Sweat & Tears] doing an imitation of Jimi Hendrix!), and he gets a chance to focus on vocals-only here as bass duties are skillfully carried by Rustee Allen, while Bill Lordan plays all drums. Trower himself is flawless in his execution of these killer tunes, and you get to hear him talking and joking with an adoring crowd. He shines brightest on long slow jams, and we're treated to a couple of classics on the extended versions of "Daydreams" (12 minutes) and "Bridge of Sighs" (9 minutes).
This recording does a nice job of capturing the fun and excitement of the show. My only complaint is that the bass was mixed kind of low - to get a nice dynamic feel for this music, I suggest turning the bass way up on your stereo equalizer (especially so you get the most out of Allen's bass solo on "Messin' the Blues").
A fantastic 70-minute overview of Trower's music in the late 70's, I highly recommend this one-of-a-kind cd.
I value interesting music that is played and recorded well. This cd's rating was based on:
Music quality = 8.9/10; Performance = 8.5/10; Production = 8/10; CD length = 10/10.
Overall score weighted on my proprietary scale = 8.8 ("4-1/2 stars")
A pleasant surprise.......2004-12-19
In Concert is a great performance by Trower's best line-up playing his best material.
His studio albums have always seemed too slick to me. This live recording adds some needed rough edges to the Trower sound. Although the late James Dewar's vocals could be a little cheesy at times, he's great on this one.
Okay, so Robin was influenced by Hendrix, tell me what guitar player from the last 30 years hasn't been? But it is not true that Trower was just a Jimi wannabe. He was a *peer* of Hendrix, one of many guitar players who explored a psychedelic twist on the blues in the 60s and 70's.
"Further on up the Road", is a Trower-ized version of the blues classic and it is THE shining jewel on this CD. This song alone is worth the price of the CD.
2004 is the 50th anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster and the 30th anniversary of Bridge of Sighs. I can't think of a better anniversary present than this album. Enjoy!
Holy S*&^!!!! That's all I have to say.......2004-10-25
This is the ultimate live album. Dewar's soulful thick voice and Robins GUITAR work is at its PEAK!!!!!!!
This is energized and raw. Just get it if your a Trower fan or just a guitar rock fan. This live album can NOT dissapoint.
Outta Sight!.......2001-07-02
If you're reading this review, then chances are you are already familiar with the music of Robin Trower. If you aren't, and you happen to enjoy Electric-Psychedelic-Acidrock-Blues, then rush out to any record store and score yourself a copy of Bridge of Sighs. If you like it, then you'll absolutely dig this previously unreleased 1977 gem from the vaults of The King Biscuit Flower Hour (it was never aired on the radio).
An undiluted blues/rock concert experience.......1998-07-30
James Dewar lets Rustee Allen play the bass and concentrates on the vocals, a perfect tradeoff. The band is having a great day and plays many of the greatest Robin Trower songs. All in all it's like being there with the band, esp since the whole concert is there without breaks and with many of the songs in extended versions. Nice surprises includes a very bluesy version of "Too Rolling Stoned" where the band deviates quite a bit from the studio version as well as a version of "Daydream" in a really slow tempo that allows one to hear all the nitty-gritty licks that Robin Trower plays in this tune. The album also includes possibly the best version of "Bridge Of Sighs" that Robin Trower has ever recorded. All in all this album is a true undiluted blues/rock concert experience with real musicians playing real instruments in front of a captivated audience. Even if you have all the studio versions of the songs you'll need this album to experience! the live Robin Trower sound.

What a great surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-05-05
I wasn't a big Triumph fan but I did like them. I remember hearing the song "Rocky Mountain Way" when this show was aired and I thought they did a great job of it. Years later when this show was released I said what the heck I'll get it. What a surprise!!!!!!!!!! I was not aware of how great these musicians are. They were a great trio. They belt out thier songs with great craftsmanship and are simply at thier best here. Rick Emmett is an amazing guitar player and displays great work here along with the rhthym section of Mike Levine and Gill Moore that make the trio gel.
Also they picked a great selection of songs: Tear the Roof Off, American Girls, Lay It On the Line, are among some of the songs that make it a night of great Rock and Roll.
It's a shame that this Canadian band was overlooked simply due to the success of the band Rush, because this band was a treasure and the proof is on this cd. If you are not a fan this is worth the price of admission because the music is tight, hot, and the band squeezes out every last bit of energy they have. If you are a fan, I would be surprised if this wasn't in your collection...it's a must.
A great concert snapshot of Triumph LIVE!!!.......2005-12-02
Canada's other big rocking power trio next to Rush called Triumph whom were wrongly called a "poor man's Rush" released their first album since 1992's Edge of Excess with King Biscuit Flower Hour Featuring Triumph released in February of 1996.
The album was recorded live during the band's 1981 tour in support of the Platinum selling Allied Forces on October 12, 1981 at The Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio.
This concert showed me how great of a live band Triumph were.
Tear the Roof Off kicks this album off in full throttle with drummer Gil Moore and guitarist Rik Emmett splitting the vocals down the middle.
Most of the stage bantering was from Moore and bass player Mike Levine. Gil sounds like Nuge while Mike was a great stage banterer. Rik said thanks a few times and did the Triumph Loves You chant at the end of the disc.
Standouts include Lay It On The Line, Fight The Good Fight, Blinding Light Show which kicks the studio version's behind, a superb Rock and Roll Machine with Rik's ten minute guitar solo spot, Gil Moore's superb drum solo, an Improv instrumental, a killer cover of Joe Walsh's Rocky Mountain Way and the closing Hot Time in This City Tonight renamed Hot Time in Ol' Cleveland Tonight.
This album is a necessity plus the US Festival and the re-mastered version of Stages which re-instated the drum solo.
Highly recommended!
I could not believe this show made it to CD.......2002-05-02
I remember finding this cd in a record store. I could not believe that it was made into a CD. I had recorded the concert off the King Biscuit Flower Hour show back in 1982. This provided a great snapshot of the concert. Naturally, the tape broke and I thought I would never hear this show again. Seeing that the radio show only played about half of the concert that I remember attending, this CD was a pleasant surprise.
Numerous reviewers mentioned that "Magic Power" was not included in the cd. Triumph did not play "Magic Power" or "Hold On" at this show. What they did play, rocked Music Hall. Rik Emmitt was on fire that night. Gil Moore and Mike Levine were a house afire. For Monday nite concert, it did feel like a Friday or Saturday nite.
Truly, a memorable concert that is archived on CD. Thank you King Biscuit Flower Hour.
power rio.......2001-05-06
recorded in cleveland in 1981 ,this cd is a must for any fan of the group. cd contains songs from "allied forces" to "rock and roll maxhine". my favorites songs are "lay it on the line" and"fight the good fight".
A TRIUMPHANT SHOW.......2000-03-04
Never really much of a fan, I only liked a few songs from Triumph. I thought alot of their music was generic, and it still is, but for some reason this CD shows them in a lively, energetic, exciting and down right fantastic form. Rik Emmet is a killer guitarist and one heck of a vocalist, sometimes resembling Ted Nugent, Rik is the only reason to get this CD. He's wild and wailing away on his guitar throughout the show. The downside of it all and there are 2 reasons. The big one being drummer and singer G. Moore, he sucks as a singer. He sounds as if he has a clothespin on his noise, it's annoying. The 2nd reason being the song Magic Power is nowhere to be found. They're touring the Allied Forces album and wasn't that song on it! #@ Oh well, other than that, this is a really awesome CD, even for those like me who don't really like the band, you'll be surprised on how they are live.

Product Description
The King Biscuit Flower Hour, a mainstay of weekend late-night FM radio throughout the late-'70s and early-'80s, tended to catch groups on the way up. But this live set, recorded in San Antonio in late 1984, not only features the Romantics five years after their definitive single, 1979's garage-rock stomper "What I Like About You," it comes over a year after their comeback hit, 1983's slickly-processed "Talking In Your Sleep." Recorded just before drummer/singer Jimmy Marinos left the band--their last album, 1985's RHYTHM ROMANCE, was recorded without him--this set strips away the soulless over-production which mars the band's later efforts. Without the layers of electronics, "Talking In Your Sleep" and its brethren are catchy, politely rocking pop songs. The set ends with a medley of '60s raveups culminating in the one-two punch of "What I Like About You" and a smoking "Little Latin Lupe Lu."
Album Description
This concert, recorded on Oct. 30, 1983 in San Antonio, at the peak of the group's popularity, it captures them in a powerful, energetic performance, displaying their best garage punk attributes full force along with a surprisingly melodic sound that put them a few steps above bands like the Ramones. It's all here, including 'Talking In Your Sleep' and climaxing with 'What I Like About You.
Customer Reviews:
One of the best LIVE power-pop CD's EVER!.......2005-12-23
First, a few of the previous reviews are incorrect when they state that Drummer/Singer Jimmy Marinos is not on this CD. He was STILL with the group here (plays drums on every song and sings on many including "What I Like About You").
The Romantics are one of the best live groups I have ever seen and this CD certainly captured a great performance! The first release by the romantics is still the best, but this is a close second! Even if you're a music buyer who doesn't prefer live CD's I think you'll be in for a surprise with this one.

Romantics-'King Biscuit Flower Hour'(King Biscuit)3.5 stars.......2005-06-05
'King Biscuit...' was recorded live at a gig in October,1983 in San Antonio,TX.Features seventeen tracks that run for an hour.I like the Romantics and all,but I really believe they need to get back long-departed drummer/vocalist Jimmy Marinos.Sound is great, with the guys creating some well penned alternative power pop,as only they can.Cuts I enjoyed reliving again the most were "When I Look Into Your Eyes","Rock You Up","Night Like This","Talking In Your Sleep","What I Like About You"(this tune is what originally drew me to this band way back when, always reminded me of early Kinks)and their Kingsmen cover "Little Latin Lupe Lu".Should appeal to most fans of Tommy Tutone,The Knack,The Producers,Plimsouls and Cheap Trick.
A true Rock 'N Roll Classic.......2003-05-06
I'd give it 10 stars but they won't let me!
Places the Romantics right up there with the Kinks and Stones when it comes to live power! I cannot say enough about this CD, if you call your self a fan of real rock' n roll - it doesn't get any better than this. Buy this disc and go see them live TODAY they're still touring and giving it all they have 20 years later!
Rockin' Romantics At Their Best!.......2001-11-29
Absolutely, one of the best live albums ever produced and a must have for people who love the Romantics. All the Original members are here, Jimmy Marinos, Wally Palmar, Mike Skill and Coz Canler, with the exception of Bassist Rich Cole, who left the band after the third album. Great Hooks, Gritty Vocals and Powerful performances make this CD stand out.
All the Hits are here (What I Like About You and Talkin' In Your Sleep)with the exception of 'One In A Million', but there are numbers from everyone of their first four albums.
Marinos sings about a third of the Songs here with Palmar singing the rest. The first ten cuts of this album are non stop party fun! If you thought that The Romantics were some cute cuddly pop rock band, think again. Their brand of Detroit Rock & Roll is amazingly sharp and smokin'.
THE BAND NEEDS MORE FOCUS!!!.......1999-01-31
THE ROMANTICS HAVE A POP STYLE ALL THEIR OWN BUT THEY LACK IT ON THIS CONCERT CD. TUNES ARE GOOD BUT THEY ARE MISSING JIMMY MARINOS PUNCH

Album Description
This King Biscuit Flower Hour CD captures a concert Billy Squier gave in 1983 in Centrum, Massachusetts. At the time the concert was released, Squier was at the peak of his popularity - he had just released two consecutive Top 10 albums and had been on the airwaves with songs like 'Everybody Wants You,' 'The Stroke,' 'Emotions in Motion,' 'In the Dark,' and 'My Kinda Lover.' 14 tracks.
Customer Reviews:
A nice trip down memory lane.......2006-08-03
Billy Squier was the first live concert I ever attended and it was during the "Emotions In Motion" tour, so this CD is also a keepsake for me. I remember listening to The King Biscuit Flower Hour when I was younger and I am not sure if this was intended to be put on a CD when it was recorded for radio airplay, but I feel like the quality is pretty good over all. I am no sound engineer, but I found the sound to be good quality. I saw Billy Squier on the Ringo Starr tour and it made me yearn for his music, so I bought this as well as "Happy Blue" and I have been listening to both almost non-stop. If you are a Billy Squier fan, you should definitely buy this CD.
Early Squier Live.......1999-12-12
Recorded in 1983, this collection includes all of Squier's major hits up to that point, including "Everybody Wants You", "Learn How to Live", "My Kinda Lover", "Lonely is the Night', "In the Dark", & of course, "The Stroke." If it had been recorded just a couple of years later, to include a few later Squier essential hits, it surely would have been a classic.
Terrific.......1999-05-21
This live concert CD is great. I loved Squier's slightly different interpretations of some of his music. A classic rock CD. The energy is electric in this concert.

Customer Reviews:
Steve Miller Band at their best.......2006-05-17
A few years back I owned and then sold The Best Of The Steve Miller Band not being impressed beyond a few songs on the album. I was browsing the used CD section and came across this CD deciding to give it a chance. I had absolutely no idea how cool Steve Miller really was until I head this album. There is an early version of "Fly Like and Eagle" on Disc 1 that is 11 mins long and has to be one of my all time favorite songs even though I play disc 2 more with different version of "The Joker" and a awesome version of "Mountain Honey".
Smooth and Grooving Stevie.......2006-02-19
When considering the career of Steve Miller, a certain kind of dissonance--cognitive, not musical--comes to mind.
Here was a guy who belted out songs about revolution, children of the future, and military-industrial complexes, but his hardcore appeal seemed to lie with the frat-boy crowd. He wasn't cool enough for the hippies, who slunk off with their Grateful Dead, Quicksilver, and Hot Tuna... you know, the "authentic" San Francisco bands.
He called himself "Stevie 'Guitar' Miller" , but the only sh-t hot guitar solo on his classic albums was credited to another Miller named Jimmy ("Good Morning", on "Number 5").
The two King Biscuit concerts that make up this double-cd cover selections from nearly ever album that Miller made up until 1976.... with the exception of "Your Saving Grace".
The 1973 concert is looser, with Miller himself handling the lead guitar, and turning in fine performances of "Mary Lou" and other crowd pleasers. it is interesting to hear "Fly Like an Eagle", and "My Dark Hour" back to back, since they share the same introductory guitar riff.
The 1976 concert is a bit more slick, with synthesizer textures firmly in place. Miller limits himself mostly to 12 string guitar in this concert, and even pulls a song ("Nothing Lasts") from the long unavailable "Recall the Beginning: A Journey from Eden" album.
Miller always employed good sidemen--drummers Jack King and Gary Mallaber are particularly fine on these recordings-- and as for Stevie himself, he is in great vocal form throughout. Miller always could deliver the goods. These performances are a good reminder of his considerable talents as a musician, showman, and songcrafter.
Steve Miller Band - 'King Biscuit Flower Hour' (King Biscuit).......2005-11-03
An absolute must-have for any true fan of the Steve Miller Band or even '70's arena/album rock in general for that matter.Cannot believe I've never even heard about this 2-CD King Biscuit release before. Two top of the line shows here, disc one comes from D.C. in 1973 and disc two New York City 1976.Total of 25 power-packed songs here for your late night listening pleasure. The memorable tracks seem to stick out more, like "Space Cowboy","Gangster Of Love","Living In The USA",his signature song "Fly Like An Eagle"(I've seen this cut bring tears to people's eyes),"Blue With A Feeling","The Joker","Nothing Lasts","Wild Mountain Honey" and "Seasons".Sure beats listening to that thirty-year old aging BASF cassette that a lot of us used to record these shows on off the radio every Sunday night.Recommended.
Anybody sick of hearing the same Steve Miller stuff on the radio should buy this release.......2005-09-14
This is timeless and excellent, raw and vintage Steve Miller in his prime. I got bored listening to the same old radio played "hits" and truly forgot what a great musician/guitarist this guy is. That is, until I picked up this release. I recommend this if you are into live classic rock.
the poor man's Eric Clapton.......2005-08-10
`The King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents The Steve Miller Band' is a two-disc set showcasing concerts recorded in Washington D.C. in 1973 and New York City in 1976. Fortuitously for the Flower Hour, and us, these concerts capture Miller at a crossroads in his recording career. Disc one features Miller promoting his breakthrough 1973 release, `The Joker', although the eclectic setlist draws extensively from three of his previous albums. Disc two presents Miller in the company of an entirely revamped band (and sound) following a two-year hiatus from the road, promoting what many consider to be his finest studio production, `Fly Like An Eagle'. The two recordings document Miller's transition from a blues-rock guitar maestro, only a fret short of Eric Clapton, to a more mature, consummate, and compelling artist.
The first disc is near-and-dear to my own heart as I caught Miller on his 1973 tour (along with the talented James Cotton Blues Band) at the ornate and intimate confines of the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan. It was one of over 400 concerts Miller performed in a two-year time span. I wasn't well versed in Miller's catalog at the time, but my recollections of the concert are bore out by the recording tendered here. Miller starts out with a flurry of catchy rock tunes, including 1969's `Space Cowboy', 1968's `Living In the USA', and 1970's politically-minded `Jackson-Kent Blues', which carries itself aurally as a precursor for his 1976 hit, `Rock'N Me'. While most of the tracks are penned by Miller (including `Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma Ma', `Fly Like An Eagle', and `My Dark Hour'), there is a run of covers in `Mary Lou', `Your Cash Ain't Nothin' But Trash' and even `Gangster Of Love', which Miller claimed as a personal moniker. It's a fast-moving, intense rock show that unexplainably loses its fury and bows out with two fairly restrained blues numbers, `Evil' and a cover of Duke Ellington's `Blues With a Feelin', and the closer, a two-minute adios curiously featuring the band introductions, `So Long Blues' (which, ironically, Miller introduces as `Welcome'). Quite oxymoronic. Only `Lovin' Cup', from `The Joker', returns us to the riveting rock concert we started out with. The most interesting moments turn on the raw, guitar-based, formative version of `Fly Like An Eagle' Miller possessed in 1973. While the more evolved, keyboard-based version offered on disc two is certainly more familiar, its familiarity renders it the more superfluous of the two tracks. Both are thoroughly enjoyable, and are altogether compelling as a pair.
Disc two reveals a more accomplished and polished Steve Miller Band, this despite presenting only two of his seven Top-40 recordings, `Fly Like An Eagle' (#2 in January of 1977) and `The Joker' (#1 in November of 1973). There is an abundance of readily recognizable tunes, however, as Miller had become a staple for album-oriented FM radio in the 1970's. Among those tunes would be three tracks from `Fly Like An Eagle', `Wild Mountain Honey', `Mercury Blues', and `The Window'. He reaches all the way back to his first album for 1968's `Baby's Callin' Me Home', his second album for 1968's `Song For Our Ancestors', his third disc for 1969's `Seasons', his fifth album for 1970's `Going To the Country' and `Going To Mexico', and his seventh album for 1972's `Nothin' Lasts'. If you don't recognize these excellent compositions from their titles, you'll probably be surprised at how well acquainted you are with many of them. A respectable cover of Robert Johnson's oft-recorded `Come On In My Kitchen' completes the collection. Despite the fact that Miller rarely wrote a song without a fantastic guitar hook, those chops are much less pronounced on disc two as Miller had diversified his sound in the mid-1970's. By 1976, Miller's concerts ran the gamut from anthemic psychedelia (`Fly Like An Eagle'), to whispy ballads (`Wild Mountain Honey'), to crunchy blues-rock (`Mercury Blues'), and even to a reggae influenced (it was 1976 after all...) 'The Joker'.
I've been impressed with every `King Biscuit' disc I've had the pleasure to own, and this two-disc set is no exception. The recordings are brisk, with the caveat that a few of the softer passages reveal distracting tape hiss. Despite this, all of the musicians are well represented, Miller's vocals are strong, and there is a minimum of intrusive crowd noise. A well-constructed booklet is included with extensive notes from Miller himself, personal kudos' from Paul McCartney and Les Paul, and copious photographs of Miller and his band mates. The only criticism of the Biscuits' production is their failure to publish the running times for individual songs, despite listing them in three separate places. Nevertheless, `The King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents The Steve Miller Band' is a great way for casual fans like myself to collect a wealth of Miller's best work, and stands as an essential commodity for Miller's more devoted fans.

Album Description
Recorded live on March 26, 1984 in West Palm Beach, Florida, this show captures Pat Travers at the peak of his career. Backed by Jerry Riggs (guitar), Barry Dunaway (bass), and Pat Marchino (drums), he grinds out a string of high-energy rock, including 'Hot Shot' and 'Killer', an extended 'Boom Boom (Out Go the Lights),' a cover of Albert King's 'Born Under a Bad Sign,' and 'La La La Love You' from the soundtrack 'Valley Girl'. The wattage is high and the tempos are ferocious, enough to make this one of the great live rock guitar showcase albums ever done.
Customer Reviews:
P T King Biscuit "LIVE".......2007-04-22
Pat Travers is one uncompromising R&R monster .I saw him play his first show ever in San Francisco @ The Old Waldorf nightclub about 1976 .At that time it was a three man band .Saw him play probably 5 or 6 more times . This is my favorite live recording of him . I have "Go for What You Know" "Live BBC " and "Whiskey Blues" which I believe is also available on a DVD version called "Boom Boom"and under the title "Live at the Diamond Club".This CD , (KBFH) has the best live version of "Born Under a Bad Sign" which he still performs to this day in concert .It also has a great version of "Ready or Not" ,penned and sung by Jerry Riggs ,one of the young guitar slingers Pat brought into the spotlight.Pat's signature songs "Life in London" and "Gettin Better" are also here. The one thing that differentiates this record from "Whiskey" is that the great Peter "Mars" Cowling has left the band before this version of The PTB hit the road .Still ,they pull this performance off with huge powerful versions of the songs.I lost my first copy of this , thanks to Amazon for allowing me to repurchase it at a reasonable price .You cannot touch it on E Bay for much less than $16.00 .
A Classic rock station miss...A Fan MUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-03-25
I am a huge fan of "Go for what you know" This is better. Maybe because there are more songs, maybe because this band translated the lp that they were promoting at the time better, or it is just one kickass night with Pat Travers. There is nothing trendy in this and the style the record company was trying to get the band to play, the band rebeled and did it thier way. Non-stop rock and roll energy from start to finish with a nifty prelude to the classic "Boom-Boom". A must for any fan.
Don't let the different band lineup fool you...this rocks!.......2003-03-20
Although this record doesn't have the classic lineup of Pat Thrall, Mars Cowling, and Tommy Aldridge, it rocks regardless. I also own Go For What You Know and the BBC record, but in some ways I like this one best out of the three live records. Part of it may be the more obscure songs done on this set in addition to those that I'm guessing Jerry Riggs sings lead on since it's not Pat singing on a couple of these. I was introduced to Pat's music about 10 years ago as he opened for Ted Nugent during a pre New Years Eve concert in Toledo, OH. I am not sure what lineup that was but it could've been this one since that's around the time of the School Of Hard Knocks CD which I now own and Riggs plays on that one, too. That show was awesome and I have been a fan ever since. This CD is highly recommended.
Good work here........2001-02-19
Buy any record that has Jerry Riggs on it. You won't be disappointed. I guarantee it. This guy was put on this planet to change the course of fine guitar playing. Look for vinyl copy of "Riggs". One of my heros.
No disappointment Here..................2000-11-01
If you are a Travers fan, don't miss this one. Yes, Pat Thrall was gone by the time this recording was made in 1984 but that does not lesson it's integrity. Jerry Riggs teams with the legendary Pat Travers and delivers a fantastic live recording that any fan of P.T. will absolutely dig.....5 star rating.....no question!

Great CD.......2007-05-24
Really great performance from Bob Weir and Kingfish on this double CD. If your a fan of Bobby, this is a must have.
King Biscuit: Kingfish.......2005-10-02
This is an excellent representation of a very under-appreciated band from the late 70's. I am a great fan of these Grateful Dead "spin=off" bands, and they are (like the Dead) best in the live format. If you enjoy the "county Dead" sound of "Skull and Roses" you'll love this Kingfish record.
Kingfish - 'King Biscuit Flower Hour......' (King Biscuit) .......2005-05-26
Barely even remember this roots-rock&roll band.'King Biscuit...' was recorded live at the Beacon Theater in NYC on April 3,1976.2-CD's with twenty songs and a duration of 84:34.Plenty of rock&roll standards along with folk and blues numbers showcased here.Line-up:Bob Weir(Grateful Dead)-guitar,Mathew Kelly-harp&vocals,Robby Hoddinott-guitar,Dave Torbert-bass and Chris Herolo-drums.Might appeal to some fans of Phish,Hot Tuna,Quicksilver Messenger Service and Santana.

Quality sound, great tunes, and a willingness to play hard, yet slick, put this "Deadish" band atop my list of favorites. All who have listend, have enjoyed as much as I, if not more.
