5 out of 5 stars Classic Santana Album........2006-04-05

No Santana album has been as good as the first three, but Zebop! comes close. This is one of Santana's best of the late 70's to 80's era. It's preceding albums, Inner Secrets and Marathon sounded too pop-like, without much percussion. (Just a Conga here and there). Zebop brings Santana back to it's latin roots, with awesome percussion, (Primera Invasion, Tales of Kilimanjaro, Hannibal), great guitar work, and great vocals. It's a look back at Santana's early days, while still sounding fresh (American Gypsy, which sounds like classic "old Santana.")
Overall, this is a great Santana album. Only Moonflower beats it in it's category. You won't be dissappointed.

5 out of 5 stars vigorous and emotional santana!.......2005-12-04

Zebop is a passional and soulful album of the great carlos santana. This gem is incomparably better than the recent "weak" albuns shaman and All that I'm. All the tracks are amazing!!!!zebop is a must have for everyone that like of Santana and good music!!

2 out of 5 stars Best songs are the instrumental.......2005-11-29

A pop recording with decent guitar solos but average singing and average songwriting.

The best songs are the 3 instrumentals.

Listen before you buy.

By the way, why does Amazon include a 'NO' in 'was this review helpful to you?'. People are only human and don't like opinions that differ from themselves. With some who are less mature, this the 'NO' makes it too easy express such displeasure.

Are they trying to discourage negative reviews, hence not purchase the CD. Such reviews only help a person in not being dissatisfied a product that received positive reviews

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the killer tone and an all round great album.......2005-08-01

yup - santana's guitar tone in this album is amongst the most distinctive you'll ever get to hear in rock music (dont know if he had already embraced prs guitars then).

apart from the killer tone, the music in this album is as good as you can get from santana. e papa re, searching, love you much too much, american gypsy, sensitive kind (cover of jj cale's original) represent some of santana's most inspired fret work. the band is great too - the vocalist showing his mettle in "love you much ...".

probably the only album in santana pantheon, which can truly compare with the magic of abraxas (though the latter's best were all covers!).

5 out of 5 stars Santana Enters The 80s In Style.......2005-06-07

With ZEBOP!, Carlos Santana and his band entered the 80s in style. Santana is not only a soulful, masterful guitarist, but a wonderful human being who believes, rightly, that the young Australian tourist convicted in Indonesia in 2005 on a trumped-up drug-smuggling charge is innocent. The vocals, mostly by Greg Walker, are superb as well. Anyone who loves Latin-flavored R&B-rock AND cares about others should own this one.
