3 out of 5 stars Cover tunes, nothing to do with Disney.......2002-06-01

The cover to the CD shows the Goofy character. However, nothing on the CD package explains what this truly is. What I mean is, with Disney and this CD in particular, you don't quite know what you are getting. Some CDs have the Disney characters singing the lead vocals, others have people singing the lead vocals with vocal overlays by Disney characters, and this CD features no Disney characters singing on it at all, despite the cover illustration being somewhat misleading, if not simply confusing. I would prefer if the label somehow indicated if the songs are sung by characters or not, etc.

This CD features artists imitating popular songs that span decades. These are "adult" songs, not children's songs. The vocals are by artists who sound very much like the original singers, and to that end Disney should be commended. The tracks selected range widely in type of music. I don't necessarily think these are songs that children would be attracted to. For example, if your children like 50's pop, why not listen to entire CDs of 50's pop?

I suggest you browse the tracks on this CD, listen to the samples, and make your decision based on whether you like these songs, or whether you think your children will like these songs. Just realize that the music selected here has nothing to do with Disney movie soundtracks or Disney characters.

5 out of 5 stars The S.W.A.T.S is my home.......2002-02-10

This Cd is one piece of hashed out mastery. The relentliss attack of the track spares none. Bling bling'

5 out of 5 stars Geno Delafose - Louisiana Phenomenon.......2007-02-11

All Geno Delafose's recordings are excellent, but this is his best effort. The musicians are tight yet exuberant, and the added treat of Michael Doucet's fiddle to several tracks makes for an exceptional musical experience. This is the most high-energy, incredibly danceable Zydeco album around. If this music doesn't get you off your duff and on your feet, nothing will!!!

    5 out of 5 stars Typically wonderful!.......2005-12-06

Geno Delafose can do no wrong, well... maybe he can, but if so, I've never heard it! This album is yet another testament to his high-quality playing, singing and raw energy.

Geno is the son of zydeco legend John Delafose, but nepotism was not a factor in making Geno famous: he is a living legend in his own right.

Unlike many of the popular stars in the zydeco movement today, who play essentially hip-hop with an accordion, Geno keeps one foot planted firmly in the past, singing many of his songs in French and playing with more traditional Zydeco rhythms. It's still fresh, though, and consistently so.

Pick up this album, you'll be glad you did.

    5 out of 5 stars Everybody's Dancin'.......2005-07-21

I saw Geno at a Cajun festival and just absolutely fell in love. The Stetson and the smile and his mix of music was amazing and oh so entertaining. I could have easily sat there for hours listening to him. So without the real thing... this is as close as I can get for now. The tempo is upbeat and the music is so fresh. The waltzes are a wonderful change of pace from contemporary music (top 40/adult rock. This CD is the first I have bought of his but I will have them ALL very soon!!! Great investment!!!

5 out of 5 stars New and Old.......2005-01-27

I love the traditional roots of this album. It is unusual to see a young performer still honoring his Creole roots and singing in French. The Sam Cooke cover is as sweet as the original.

5 out of 5 stars Zydeco is great.......2003-06-26

Why had I never heard of Zydeco? American all the way with a southern French flavor. I heard it for the first time on WNYC New York Public Radio. Really great, great stuff!

    4 out of 5 stars Funk rock!.......2004-01-15

I am a big fan of funk like Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and early Faith No More. I'm not into hair. But, I love this album. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because of a couple ballads. Most of album rocks. This album doesn't have much of the typical 80's hair production sound. Thank God! This is truely funk rock, not hair. The singer is the closest thing to hair, but he sings sharp, tight, and funky. As a drummer, I can tell you that the rhythm section is tight and funky. The guitarist smoothly goes from funk to hard rock to an impressive solo. Ah man, this stuff is good.

I would recommend this album over their other album, Psycho cafe. The other album sounds much more like typical 80's hair. Especally the singer, he sounds more raunchy. It is a less funky album.

Go for it! Get the funk out!

4 out of 5 stars Pretty cool funk metal.......2003-05-22

Kinda like a cross between the funky metal guitar and bass of the Infectious Grooves or Chili Peppers minus the humor, with glam metal vocals (Axel, Faster Pussycat). The ballads aren't that great, but the rockers kick..... Personal faves - Cactus Juice and Dancin' On Coals.

If you're a real Prince fan, you know all about 94 East. This was one of his first bands with childhood best friend Andre Cymone. Lovin Cup is a classic! No, most of their music are without lyrics, but Prince fans know that's how he started. This is for the authentic fans only-I have one of the originals, but glad to see this re-mastered and re-issued. Priceless!!

5 out of 5 stars Bright and breezy album from the late nineties.......2004-04-17

The mood of this album is generally upbeat but there are some sad songs here too. The music is generally relaxed. By the time this album was recorded, Alabama were past their peak commercially but they continued to make great music as this album proves.

The album opens with the title track, a breezy mid-tempo song that sets the mood of the album. Next comes Sad looking moon, a song that is more reflective than sad, which was the only number one country hit to come from the album. Among the other songs are covers of My girl (Temptations) and Hey baby (Bruce Channel), both of which were American number one pop hits for the original artists in the sixties. Other great songs include Of course I'm alright (about a meeting with an ex-partner), She's got that look in her eyes (about unfulfilled desire) and Is the magic still there?

While this may not be the most essential album by Alabama, there is much to like about it. If you enjoy their music, this album should appeal to you.

        5 out of 5 stars Continuity.......2003-08-11

This album has what a lot of country albums don't have: continuity. The album is meant as a tribute to their days playing in Myrtle Beach, SC, and it comes off as their best 90's album. Of course, they would have been unable to put the album together by picking and choosing songs from Nashville songwriters, so they wrote the album themselves--except for 2 covers (My Girl and Hey Baby) and 2 songs by outside writers (Of Course I'm Alright--an outstanding ballad--and Calling All Angels). Sad Lookin' Moon, Is the Magic Still There, and Dancin, Shaggin' on the Boulevard are all outstanding, and She's Got That Look in Her Eyes is a classic. If you're new to Alabama, you may want their early 80's work to be your jumping off point, but Dancin' on the Boulevard works well as an introduction, too.

5 out of 5 stars A good album that should've had more success.......2000-04-06

This was the first Alabama album that I bought and it was and still is a great album. It has the hit single, "Sad Lookin' Moon" on it, but all the songs are great. I also like "She's Got That Look In Her Eyes" and "Of Course I'm Alright." At least 2 or more of the other songs should have been #1 hits in my opinion. This is a bigtime underrated album. If you buy it, you won't be disappointed whether you're an Alabama fan or not.

5 out of 5 stars One of Alabama's Best CD's.......1999-07-26

This Cd has it all, from Beach Music to good ole country. This goes back to where these boys from Alabama got thier start in on of the best places on the East Coast Myrtle Beach SC!!!! The songs on this CD is GREAT!!! to dance to or just sit back and relax!!! Great JOB ALABAMA!!!!!!!

Joanie Bartles is upbeat and takes old favorites and makes them new and exciting. My 3 & 4 yearolds love tappin to her tunes and singing to her beats. It really gets children moving!! This cd is also a great alternative for family trips in the car. The whole family will love to sing her songs - even the older kids!!

I taught mentally challenged students for years and this CD was our very favorite "Rock & Roll time" CD! We danced to the entire CD every day and had so much fun. I will always love this CD because it brings back so many great memories! I am purchasing this CD now for my little one and can't wait for him to experience "Dancin' Magic"!

5 out of 5 stars A "must have" for kids!!.......1999-06-09

This CD is wonderful. You cannnot put it in the player without kids getting up and starting to jump around. It is a standard gift for me (the Christmas Magic is great, too!)

5 out of 5 stars HOLY BULL RIDIN' BLOOD RUSH!.......2006-03-05

This has got to be one of the absolute best in Rockin' Country compilations I have come across. Toby Keith kickin' the show off with "Gimme Eight Seconds." Couldn't think of a better way to do it. Wild Horses rocks with "I Will Survive." If you're expecting a country rock version of Donna Summers, you're not even close. Wild Horses comes across like a group that should've had 10 Platinum Albums and 20 #1's by now. What can be said about Eddie & "T-Roy"? Fantastic as always. Best cover I've ever heard of a Bon Jovi song. Jewel does a wonderful job of smoothing things out to give your adrenalin a bit of a break with "Til We Run Out Of Road" before the CDB comes back and kicks you right square in the butt with "Bull Ridin' Son Of A Gun." David Lee Murphy keeps the tempo up and really gets into creating a great image and telling a great story with Hangin' On. Deryl Dodd slows it down once again before Mr. "Achy Breaky Heart" himself, Bill Ray Cyrus heats things up with "Let's Go To The PBR." It's definitely a pick me up song that really gets you wanting to Go To The PBR with that same BTO style of Let It Roll Down The Highway. Jack Ingram really brings to light what runs through every cowboy as he's on his way to the PBR and once he draws his ride.

It really did surprise me there was no "Mr. Cowboy" himself on this compilation. The only thing missing on this CD was some Chris Ledoux. I feel a great added selection to this CD would've been Chris' 8 Second Ride.

If you're on your way to a rodeo, or just like some good rockin' country, this CD is a must for your collection.

        5 out of 5 stars PBR Max.......2004-05-27

If you are a true PBR fan or someone who loves to get ready for bull riding or other rodeo event, this is your CD! Every song on this CD is directed toward bull riding in some way. This CD is worth ever penny. Besides listening to it when I go to bull riding, I used to use it as pump up music before a game. The PBR did a great job in selecting these quality artists and songs to be featured in their CD. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Bull Riding PUMP.......2004-03-27

I listen to this CD behind the chutes before I get on.Gimme 8 more seconds, rank bull, and Mr.Charlie Daniels really get it on. This is one RANK CD

        5 out of 5 stars A wonderful compilation.......2002-08-12

That's really good music ! The track number 2 "I will survive" is great, as the 1 and the 7.
I especially love the 9 one, which is really calm and beautiful. But as in Old West, in a bull rodeo, it is some spectacular action music pieces !
        Great !

5 out of 5 stars Music to get the blood going.......2002-07-05

This album is a collection of music from Toby Keith, Wild Horses and even the Charlie Daniels Band. An odd collection of songs, mostly based on bull riding and cowboy themes, that are there to get your blood going. Whether working out, just driving down the road, or needin to blow off some steam, this is worth it.
