Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30

Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.

5 out of 5 stars Top Shelf.......2007-01-04

This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23

THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.

5 out of 5 stars Great Collection of Broadways greatest Songs .......2005-06-14

This Collection was perfectly made it has almost all the most famous Broadway songs on this 5 cd set. The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway

5 out of 5 stars Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17

If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

It's no surprise, considering the crossover expectations that drive contemporary Nashville, that Mark Chesnutt might strike a couple of pop poses on his sixth album. What's more like a shock, coming from an East Texas twanger like Chesnutt, is that those pop moves would be so superior to the straight country that completes the disc. You know the drill: a couple of Cajun-spiced boot scooters, a Western swing number, some contemporary honky-tonk, all of which sound plenty hot but most of which are too lyrically clever and emotionally slight to make any lasting impression. The sweet pop chorus and soul-country groove of "This Heartache Never Sleeps," however, is another matter altogether. And the title cut--a swelling cover of the grateful and sincere Diane Warren-penned Aerosmith smash--provides Chesnutt the sort of vocal workout he hasn't allowed himself since he tackled "Who Will the Next Fool Be" on what remains his finest effort, 1992's Longnecks and Short Stories. --David Cantwell

4 out of 5 stars Mainstream Nashville . . ........2006-04-10

This 1999 release is a far cry from Mark Chesnutt's more honky-tonk material ("Savin' the Honky Tonk," 2004), but for mainstream Nashville, the guy's got a great voice, and the songs are meant to please modern-country sensibilities. Every one of them is about love, love won, or love lost. It's Tim McGraw-Faith Hill material, especially the first cut, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

There's sweet nostalgia in "Tonight I'll Let My Memory Take Me Home" and a touch of Cajun in "Jolie." The guy is totally infatuated in "I'm Gone." And tough love takes a comic turn in "My Way Back Home." Only 10 great songs on this CD (and some are great for dancing), but the price is right. Comes with lyrics and some great publicity shots of the singer.

1 out of 5 stars I've heard better from Mark Chesnutt - Not impressed at all........2004-03-16

And to top it off, an Aerosmith cover? Gimme a break. Yet another country singer, picked by the Powers That Be in Nashville, to try crossover songs. Leave rock to rockers, and keep country in country.

You know what? Hank Williams Sr. would have never done an Aerosmith song. You know why? He wrote his OWN DAMN SONGS!

Anyways, I like alot of the other music Mr. Chesnutt has done. This one is just plain bland. Not enough taste for my Cajun buds. And kinda weak. I'll leave it for those who like it.

5 out of 5 stars This guy is great.......2000-02-04

He's got one of the best voices in the business. 5 stars isn't enough praise to place on this album.

4 out of 5 stars "They're playing OUR song...".......1999-12-20

Dear Country fans,

Yup, he swept aerosmith away , and sang the best version of "Idon't wanna miss a thing. Great!

5 out of 5 stars This is an excellent CD!!!!.......1999-07-09

I just recently bought this CD, and it didn't dissappoint me in the least. Track one, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing," is a great remake of the far inferior version done by Aerosmith. Track two, "This Heartache Never Sleeps," is my least favorite song on this disc, but it is still quite good. Track three, "My Way Back Home," is a humorous song in which Mark actually has to find his way back home because his woman took it. "I'll Get You Back" is a good song of redemption for any man or woman to the one they hurt. "That's The Way You Make An Ex" is one of the most humorous songs with a double meaning I've heard in a while. "Tonight I'll Let My Memory Take Me Home" is a great ballad about reflecting on one's past and revisiting it. "Jolie" is just a great up-tempo number. Monty Holmes did this song too, but I like this version more. "What Was You Thinkin'" is another neat song basically asking someone "Are you crazy" for letting love go. "I'm Gone" is another great up-tempo number. Then it ends with another great up-tempo number, "Let's Talk About Our Love." It's not as country as his previous efforts, but it is still quite good!

1 out of 5 stars Um...no.......2004-11-06

Why Aerosmith, a hard-rock band, would record Diane Warren's music is beyond me. I mean, come on, this is the same woman who writes songs for Celine Dion, for crying out loud! I remember when this came out, I was SO disappointed. I just felt like- man, Aerosmith, when you need other people to write songs for you, its time to pack your bags and head out. There is something so gross about Steven Tyler singing this song. He's supposed to rock, not whine. And what's up with the rest of the band? here you have Joe Perry, an amazing guitarist, wasted on a song where the guitar is hardly present. Its the same with Joey Kramer, where are the cool drums? Why, Aerosmith, why? Was it because Liv Tyler was in Armageddon that you guys felt you HAD to make this song? Its just not right, Aerosmith is not pop. Seriously, they play this on the same stations that play the Backstreet Boys. GRRR!

5 out of 5 stars First #1 Single.......2003-09-20

'I Dont Want To Miss A Thing' was Aerosmith first number one single, and for good reason it is an amazing ballad even if the band didnt write it. This is truly one of the best songs you will ever hear in you whole life, get this I urge you!!!

4 out of 5 stars Good single, one of the best i've got........2002-10-13

Get this one, all 3 songs are good!!! "I don't want to miss a thing" is the band's first no.1 single!!!

5 out of 5 stars GREAT CD FROM A GREAT BAND.......2002-07-31

Have you seen the thriller movie "Armageddon"? If you have, somewhere in there you'll here the song, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". This CD is not only a great CD, but a CD carrying a song that is a Platinum Hit. If you like "Just Push Play", you'll like this for certain.

What a great tune and one that is worth looking for. I haven't been motivated to buy a single since the days of 45RPM records, when you could buy the single you liked for around a buck... On any format,...this AEROSMITH tune is definitely worth finding. At least I can count on Amazon.com to have what I want....

5 out of 5 stars CLASS!.......2000-10-19

Not much to say about this really, apart from ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

5 out of 5 stars To all of the hardcore aerosmith fans.......2000-08-16

lighten up, so they wanted a pop record...every singer makes the concession eventually, in order to get a hit record, you have to go outside your genre, so they did...but i mean, this is a beautifu song...dream on was a ballad, and no one gripes about that...i have never heard steve sing like that...maybe never will again...i get chills when i hear this song...

1 out of 5 stars Worst ever by Aerosmith.......2000-07-30

I was so looking forward to hearing a new Aerosmith song, a song that was going to totally rock, and what did I get? A pop song. I think this song is a disgrace to all true Aerosmith fans who love the hard, sleazy riffs songs. Where are the guitars in this song? There aren't any that I can hear. What Aerosmith manage to do is to finaly get a number 1 by selling out, getting people to buy one of their songs who have never bought or even listened to Aerosmith in their life. The sad thing is that all Aerosmith fans will still buy every version of this record, even when it's not worthy of the shelf space. If you like Britney Spears I encourage you to buy this record.

5 out of 5 stars Don't Want To Miss A Thing.......2000-03-17

I love this song. I remember the first time I heard it, I was on my way to work, and I kept thinking, I know that voice, who is singing this song. I just love Steven Tyler's voice, and I thought, this has to be him, but I've never heard him sing a song like this before. I just fell in love with this song. It's one of my favorites from Aerosmith.

1 out of 5 stars Yet another example of Country imitating art........1999-07-16

Aside from the whining, near-monotone vocals that strongly resemble a boy's voice in puberty, the attempted rock back beat lacks both the strength and the soul that these well-written lyrics demand in order to convey the emotion of the piece. Tyler has always made a trademark of incorporating the feel of the words into his music, as is demonstrated by his long and successful career (and selection for the Armageddon soundtrack). I grow weary of the multitude of Country music fans who rant and rave about the latest steel guitar rendition of some once timeless Rock & Roll piece, just because the top of their charts have become dominated by the wife of Mutt Lang. In short, Country artists need to stick to what they do best: singing about beer, dogs and pick-up trucks... and leave the real and lasting music to those who have what it takes, be the genre Blues, Jazz, Classical or Rock & Roll.

    5 out of 5 stars A couple of top-notch songs!.......1999-06-05

Mark Chesnutt's version of "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" is ten times better than that god-awful noisy version from Aerosmith. I think he did a good job with it. The other song, "Wherever You Are," is absolutely beautiful. It is the perfect testament for people like me who are still looking for that special someone in there lives. Songs like this are the main reason I love to listen to country music so much. Keep it coming, Mark!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars totally great cd, i listen to it over and over.......1999-04-14

I really enjoy this CD. I listen to it over and over everyday in my car on the way to work. Such a romantic song, recommend it for all country music fans. Way to go!!!!

5 out of 5 stars The song in general.......1999-04-12

everytime i hear this song, i feal like just crying, because i have the movie Armageddon, that movie is very powerfull on the tear jerker side, the song I Don't Want TO Miss A Thing, has become my altime favorite song.

5 out of 5 stars Where Ever You Are..A song for everyone at one point in life.......1999-04-10

This is a song that anyone, no matter what their music preference is, can relate to at some point in their life. Not many artists can do what Mark did with this song. The words are just so captivating, especially to those still looking for their one true love. Don't give up the search!

2 out of 5 stars CLUELESS went in the wrong direction with this one!.......1999-04-27

Having the entire collection of CLUELESS Cd's, this one is perhaps the least exciting of all. Not much of a dance cd.

5 out of 5 stars I think it's the best song you could have ever come up with........1998-10-20

this song is the best song it's sad and it has meaning all at the same time and it's prefect....

4 out of 5 stars DEJA VU IS FAB!!!.......2003-07-12

Ok well most of deja vu albums are hard to come across because thier record label is small and its in the United Kingdom. But they do really good dance/techno covers to big hits! I really like their version of "my heart will go on" Its just one of the greatest covers ever plus they blew the charts in the UK with that single! No doubts'"don't speak" was another good cover, just check out their stuff, you might like it! This album(I don't wanna miss a thing)is pretty good>>>good remixes plus the song "against all odds" is on the cd as well, plus "spinner" and "chill out" Tracks. So if u get this cd, you will get your moneys' worth!
