5 out of 5 stars Two classic Steppenwolf Albums in one!!!!.......2007-07-14

I just ordered this and cannot wait to hear it again! I had both albums and I wore out my vinyl copies years ago, and have been waiting for the cd! I have been a fan of Steppenwolf since the olden days, and their music is as fresh today as it was then.

5 out of 5 stars The Legacy Of Steppenwolf Goes On.......2007-01-24

Here you get two great Steppenwolf albums back to back. Both of these are extremely rare and some of best Stepppenwolf tracks ever made. A must for all serious collectors.

3 out of 5 stars Epic Steppenwolf 74.......2003-02-10

Slow Flux is a 1974 Steppenwolf release on the epic label. Nice job with the production and sound of this re-issue cd. I suggest you crank the volume up to hear it's full effect! Slow Flux features John Kay at his usual best. John is a blues rock vocal wizard. Song favorites include, Gang War Blues- straight ahead rock with awesome Bass playing.{the bassist really kick's it!} Justice Dont Be Slow- a political statement song featuring some creative Horn arrangements during the chorus. Once again the Bassist adds his technique by duplicating the horn riffs. So Cool!! Get Into The Wind- Fast rock n roll boogie. Nice keyboard and guitar special effects. Jeraboah- lots of guitar stuff going on. Including the use of a talk box on the guitar solo.{an effect Peter Frampton made famous} Morning Blue- Slow ballad with excellent tasteful drumming, great keyboards{love that Hammond B-3}and some country style guitar solo's. Steppenwolf finishes the album with two Heavy Rockers. A Fools Fantasy- lead guitar solos that totally rock!! and last but not least is Fishing in the dark- featuring a powerfull performance by the horn section and a spontaneously played drum/vocal break during the middle portion of the song with added percussions. Final thoughts: A fairly decent album that does manage to give us a few creative moments but too few for this album to be considered a Steppenwolf classic. If your curious? Buy it. If not than you should consider some of there better offerings. Such as a Greatest Hits compilation.

    3 out of 5 stars Steppenwolf Returns.......2002-03-16

The 'Wolf attitude returns and is back with a more commercial oriented flavor.. The standout is "Justice Don't Be Slow", an anti-Nixon track with lyrics that would have been perfect for "Monster". There's the top 30 hit "Straight Shootin' Woman", some nice pop tunes (for Steppenwolf it's difficult to mix pop and the 'Wolf image and make the formula work) and some great keys courtesy of Goldy McJohn. McJohn was out after this album, and it was downhill. Don't bother buying "Hour of the Wolf" and "Skullduggery".

5 out of 5 stars Steppenwolf's best that no one has heard of.......2000-07-30

John and group released this in 1974 and while "Straight Shootin Woman" spent some time on the charts, the best of this album received little air play. Hard driving Steppenwolf rock with plenty of thought provoking lyrics. Check out "Children of Night" with a message that is more prevelent today than it was then. While "Justice Don't be Slow" revolves around Watergate, it would also apply to our current administration."Smokey Factory Blues" speaks to the daily grind of work and questioning where it leads. "Fishin'in the Dark" wraps up the C.D. with a tight horn sound. I have enjoyed this album since 74 and strongly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.

    5 out of 5 stars This little-known album is classic, hard-driving Steppenwolf.......1999-05-16

If you enjoy classic 70s rock-'n'-roll, you'll love this album. Steppenwolf was, of course, one of the premier bands of the era. Although this album is not very well known, it is classic Steppenwolf.....hard-driving, gear-jamming, and, in typical Steppenwolf fashion, though-provoking. It's a shame this album never gained a lot of popularity. You won't be disappointed with this choice.
