5 out of 5 stars A GREAT INTRODUCTION TO THE EARLY YEARS OF FLEETWOOD MAC!.......2007-07-15

I will be writing a review on the legendary 3-CD set landmark album entitled "FLEETWOOD MAC, MEN OF THE WORLD, THE EARLY YEARS" by one of Rock's all-time greatest bands ever. I give you one of England's favorite sons and one of Britain's pride and joy's, F-L-E-E-T-W-O-O-D M-A-C! "FLEETWOOD MAC, MEN OF THE WORLD, THE EARLY YEARS" was originally released in 2005 in a 3-Compact Disc set on the Sanctuary Records label which is manufactured and distributed in the USA by Sony BMG Music Entertainment. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary album or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the overall best informative and most accurate review possible.

FLEETWOOD MAC will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for delivering and entertaining us with some of Rock's most talented musicians ever. FLEETWOOD MAC will also be remembered for composing and recording some of Rock's all-time greatest anthems ever. FLEETWOOD MAC was originally a Blues band in the beginning. When you think about about it, FLEETWOOD MAC were three different bands. The first line-up consisted of Guitar legend and Frontman Peter Green, guitarist Jeremy Spencer, guitarist Danny Kirwan, bassist John McVie and drummer Mick Fleetwood. The second line-up consisted of guitarist Danny Kirwan, guitarist Bob Welch, keyboardist Christine Perfect (Soon to be McVie), bassist John McVie and drummer Mick Fleetwood. The third and most popular line-up that is familiar to everyone is the line-up consisting of lead vocalist Stevie Nicks, guitarist Lindsay Buckingham, keyboardist Christine McVie, bassist John McVie and drummer Mick Fleetwood. All three line-ups were legendary and extraordinary in their own way during their time. However, all three of their influences continue to be felt to this very day. FLEETWOOD MAC would compose and record many great albums and hit songs through the years to highly critically acclaim. Which now brings me to this legendary 3-CD album I'm about to review for you today. "FLEETWOOD MAC, MEN OF THE WORLD, THE EARLY YEARS" chronicles and highlights the early years of the band's first lineup from 1967 to 1970. In my opinion, this legendary 3-CD set is without a doubt, a true testament of the brilliance and musical creativity of five extremely talented masterminded musicians. This legendary 3-CD set is also a fine fitting tribute to a great legendary band that was truly indeed, far ahead of their time. This 3-CD set is the gothic tales and tragic stories in the life of FLEETWOOD MAC, their music is their story that speaks for itself.

It is now time to let the Blues and Rock n' Roll music of FLEETWOOD MAC to speak for itself and back it up by doing all of the talking musically as FLEETWOOD MAC originally truly intended for it to listened to and heard. "FLEETWOOD MAC, MEN OF THE WORLD, THE EARLY YEARS" begins with DISC ONE Blues section starting with the beautiful mini acoustic segment erupting into the explosive Blues Rocker "Intro / Lazy Poker Blues," the electrifying slow Blues Rocker "My Baby's Sweeter," the energetic Blues Rocker "Long Grey Mare," the beautifully slow Blues number "Love That Burns," the a*s kicking Blues Rocker "Talk To Me Baby," the incredible acoustic Blues number "Do You Give A Damn For Me," the amazing slow Blues number "I Have To Laugh," the bass pounding guitar buzzin' Blues number "Buzz Me Baby," another bass pounding Blues number, "The Sun Is Shining," the slow electric sounding and violin Blues number "Leaving Town Blues," the breathtaking Blues Rocker "Mind Of My Own," the slow sizzlin' Blues number "How Blue Can You Get?," the slow groundbreaking Blues number "Fast Talking Woman Blues," the blistering Blues Rocker "Every Day I have The Blues" and the fast 50's sounding Blues Rocker "Someone's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight." END OF DISC ONE.

DISC TWO takes right where DISC ONE left off and begins with the studio recordings of the beautifully breathtaking Rocker "World In Harmony," the haunting and disturbing studio version of the slow classic Rocker once recorded by JUDAS PRIEST, "The Green Manalishi (With The Two-Pronged Crown)," the explosive Hard Rocker "Underway," the merciless R&B number "Like It This Way," the a*s kicking Hard Rocker that is part of the live version of the song "Rattlesnake Shake," "The Madge Sessions No. 1," the slow mysterious electric number "The Madge Sessions No. 2," the beautifully slow acoustic number "Farewell," the rough and rugged Rocker "October Jam No. 1," the guitar chord changing Rocker "October Jam No. 2," the upbeat and refreshing acoustic number "Tell Me From The Start," the loud bass sounding electric Blues number "Blues In B Flat Minor" and one the many incredible versions of this legendary slow Rocker "Man Of This World." END OF DISC TWO.

DISC THREE takes right where DISC TWO left off and begins with the live versions of the a*s kicking Peter Green composition Rocker recorded by SANTANA, "Black Magic Woman," the haunting, frightening and scary slow number "Jumping At Shadows," the merciless Blues Hard Rocker "Stranger Blues," the groundbreaking Blues Rocker that was performed live by JIMMY PAGE & THE BLACK CROWES, "Oh Well," the incredible live recording of "Coming Your Way," the fifteen and a half minute haunting and frightening live version of "The Green Manalishi (With The Two-Pronged Crown)," the eight minute live version of "Rattlesnake Shake" and the Blues Hard Rocker orignally recorded by THE ISLEY BROTHERS and once recorded by a band from Liverpool, England called THE BEATLES, "Twist & Shout." END OF DISC THREE. May I also add that these recordings are priceless. Peter Green's guitar riffs and licks are the true Rock n' Roll stuff that is made of legend. I rank Peter Green up there with Hendrix and Clapton.

I would like to highly recommend everyone of all ages to purchase this album to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music collection. This collection should be considered a vital part of a teenager's musical education and part of Rock n' Roll history. This legendary landmark album collection has already proven to stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER.

You may also want to research further into the many numerous FLEETWOOD MAC studio albums and greatest hits compilation albums that are widely available. In doing this, you will have found the album that is right for you and your musical tastes and needs. When this is accomplished, you will have taken a giant step in owning and starting your very own personal FLEETWOOD MAC music collection. You can do all of your album researches and purchases either at Amazon com or at your nearest local Borders Books and Music store.

In closing, the FLEETWOOD MAC legend does not even come close to ending here. If anything, it is only the beginning. Throughout Rock n' Roll history, all three line-ups of FLEETWOOD MAC are considered to be legendary up to this very day. FLEETWOOD MAC has also successfully continued in releasing many more great albums and performing live to sell-out audiences the world over to highly critically acclaim up to this very day. FLEETWOOD MAC has already received the highest ultimate honor possible bestowed upon any great legendary band; by being inducted as members of the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. FLEETWOOD MAC has forever left their place and mark in Rock n' Roll history and their many contributions, accomplishments and achievements will never be forgotten as long as music breathes and lives on. Knowing this, FLEETWOOD MAC is here to stay and are not going anywhere anytime soon. But FLEETWOOD MAC is not about to rest on their laurels just yet. With this in mind, there will be new tales and stories in the FLEETWOOD MAC legend and legacy that will still need to be told and written and many pages and chapters. But that, my fellow readers and reviewers, you will all just have to stay tuned and read further more about it at a later date. So here's to you Peter, Jeremy, Danny, Bob, Lindsay, Stevie, Christine, John and Mick. Thanks for the great memories and moments with many more still yet to come. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," need I say more? Thanks for reading my review and I truly hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have truly enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also deeply hope that you will continue in reading all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. FLEETWOOD MAC RULES! Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever in Rock, John L.

4 out of 5 stars Exquisite.......2007-01-16

While I think a couple tracks could have been edited from each disc without any appreciable detriment, this collection is overall brilliant. Both its range and power testify to the songwriting genius of Peter Green and his fellow Mayall alumni.
