3 out of 5 stars Classic 90's Joe Walsh.......2003-04-17

Despite the title of the album, there's not much "tree-hugging" here, just Joe showing off his typical knack for likeable, humorous lyrics and a catchy melody.

Some songs just don't work, such as "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", "Coyote Love", and
"The Friend Song", but they are made up for by the winners such as "Vote For Me", "I Know", "Shut Up" and "Certain Situations". "Decades", a 12 minute opus, also works fairly well.

If you are a fan of Joe in his synth-heavy phase, you won't be disapointed.

3 out of 5 stars First half good, second half bad........1999-07-12

The first six songs of this set start out good. They're in the typical Walsh vein-- humorous lyrics, good slide playing-- but the second half, for me, falls apart. Especially the Carol King cover.

After i heard the cd songs for a dying planet i was blown away by 2 songs decade and my friend had tears in my eyes while my friend was playing.brought back memories of friends that i have lost.felt bad but felt good at the same time and decade said a lot of the things that are wrong in the world in 10 years all and all it was a great cd to get into.my favorite joe walsh is barnstorm and when he was with james gang yer album was tops

5 out of 5 stars No one would ever think..........2001-07-01

...that Joe Walsh, with all his diversity, could come out with an album that has the ability not only to entertain, but to make you think, make you question, make you wonder. He touched on the problems with our society and the health of our planet in Ordinary Average Guy, but in Songs For A Dying Planet he reminds us that, if we're not mindful of the damage we're doing to Earth, that we won't have it to hand down to our children, and to their children after them.

While every song has meaning (aside from his remake of "Will you still love me") one of the last lines in one of the last songs really hits the target dead center:

"We are living on a dying planet, we're killing everything that's alive, and anyone who tries to deny it, wears a tie, and gets paid to lie"

Great album. Listen to it, not only with your ears, but with your head, and maybe even your heart.

5 out of 5 stars A Stones Tribute?.......2001-02-01

Has everyone missed the fact that this album plays like a Rolling Stones tribute?

Carefully mimicking Richards licks...this is some of the most fun parody I have ever heard.

"Fairbanks" is actually played to the tune "Honky Tonk Woman."

Goofy, fun...and in places quite sincere...Joe Walsh is an overlooked genuis that knows how not to take himself too seriously.

5 out of 5 stars One for the Decades.......2000-07-28

I have been a Joe Walsh fan for over 25 years, but just recently discovered this CD. The cut, "Decades" has to go down as one of his masterpieces. This whole CD is priceless.

4 out of 5 stars Vintage Joe Walsh.......2000-06-29

This is one I've been looking for for a while. I had it when it first came out but then I lost it. I was glad to find it here at such a good price. This CD is a must have for Walsh fans and is a nice intro for those only casually interested. Best cuts are: SHUT UP! and Vote For Me. This is a great buy!
