Upon listening to this compilation it is clear that KISS are not a hair metal band, This is all classic rock in the simplest form very basic guitar chords/riffs BUT so effective and the bass line in a number of the songs really sets these APART FROM POISON ETC.

If KISS is going to continue cranking out greatest hits CDs (even if not ALL the songs are hits!), then I think their next one should be their greatest hits of the more recent material. GREATEST KISS is, as some have pointed out, a good way to go if you are still only a Private in the KISS Army, and just want a compilation CD of some of their best work to add to your rock collection, but to diehards like us, as Ace used to say in that NY accent of his, "Fuggetaboudit!" Once the new fans have tasted the great old KISS songs, why not hit them with a Greatest Hits CD that includes: Lick it Up, Heaven's on Fire, Tears are Falling, Crazy, Crazy Nights, Anyway You Slice It (LOVE that tune!), Bang Bang You, Let's Put the X in Sex, Rise To It, Hide your Heart, Forever, Unholy, Take it Off, God Gave Rock and Roll to You II, Domino, I Just Wanna, and maybe even Fits Like a Glove. Now THAT is a greatest hits album! All the best songs of the post-Ace/Peter days. I have most of those songs on either cassette or CD, and would certainly buy THAT one! Unfortunately, greatest hits albums only contain a few of their REAL greatest hits, so this one will never be made. Some of the best songs are still only available on the studio albums so that fans will still buy those CDs as well. Oh well. Money talks....

First this is a good kiss compilation offering(again)classics such as rock`n`roll all nite,deuce,black diamond and the usual others.Nothing wrong with this compilation ,good selection of track good price BUT this the 8+ compilation by kiss ,every die-hards or fans own these song.Sure its a great place for starters or casuals but kiss released 8+ compilation already and its just killing its legacy.Kiss if you are reading stop making compilations!!!There is the new shout it out loud video version song and `god gave rock`n`roll to youII`wich isnt included on many kiss compilation it also goes for plaster caster.if you are new fan dont bother,go buy it but fo older fans its a waste of money exept `shout it out loud`.It would have been cool if they included songs from`creatures of the night`at least one.

OVERALL;Good compilation but did we need it?good for starters or someone who just want their best3 stars because there is way too much compilation already and this one is good but not the best..The songs are great but we didnt need this one because there is already too many!Recomended to starters.Not the best compilation but a good one.Lots of my rewiews are about kiss.

I'll start off by saying that I am a huge KISS fan. I am getting a little tired however, of "best of" compilations. While there are some classic songs here; "Detroit Rock City," "Hard Luck Woman'" "Deuce" and "Cold Gin" there are also some songs that should never grace a "best of" collection; "I Was Made for Loving You'" "Flaming Youth" and "Two Sides of the Coin." And for the love of all that is good, is it necessary to have "Rock & Roll All Nite" on another album? It is already on 1. Dressed To Kill, 2. Alive!, 3. Double Platinum, 4. Killers, 5. Smashes, Thrashes and Hits, 6. Alive III, 7. MTV Unplugged, and 8. You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best. This will make album number nine.I'm sure ive missed some.
I wont even mention all the videos it is on.
I guess if you don't have any KISS albums, this will give you some of their good, old stuff. But I promise, there are better compilations out there.

Or to end up, perhaps, if you just want one Kiss disc in your collection. But be vewy careful...I'm hunting wabbits! No, that wasn't it. But make sure you get the 20-track import version; it deletes one or two mediocre songs from the 16-track US edition, adding Kiss classics like "Love Gun" and "God Of Thunder" instead.

This 76-minute compilation brings together 20 songs representing Kiss' entire (pre-1998 "reunion") career. And it's not "pop go Kiss"; "Greatest Kiss" is a balanced mix of the band's trademark pop metal and genuine hard rock. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons had a knack for pairing big hooks with big riffs, as is evident on songs like "Strutter", "Deuce", and the classic "Detroit Rock City".
Simmons roars like the demon he used to be on the awesome heavy metal stomper "God Of Thunder", and how can you not love a big, dumb shout-along rocker like "Shout It Out Loud" or "Do You Love Me"? The melodic "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You" was an MTV hit in the early 90s, and Gene Simmons' lewd "Plaster Caster" about a groupie who used to make, well, plaster casts, is one of his best and wittiest songs.

A couple of these reviews were obviously written about the lesser US version of this album...there is no "Flaming Youth" here, thank goodness, and as far as this being "rehashing", yes, well compilation albums aren't really made for those fans who already own the material, are they?
Kiss' three "Alive" albums remain the best way to hear almost all of their best songs, but this is a very good collection in its own right.

    This bargain collection of showtunes is highlighted by the composition of Kurt Weill and the uniquely rolling tongue of Colette Lyons. I have a complaint about this compilation. It includes "Ol' Man River", but it excludes Al Jolson's rendition of "Ol' Man River." Otherwise, this collection gives you ample bang for your buck.

    I own the Hollywood Bowl Gershwin CD and I love it. I was surprised by it. Play the samples if you can but the singing and sound are clear and crisp and you can understand every word.

    This album is really worthless unless you just HAVE to have an album with pics of the 1996 reunion tour on it. This album is merely a alternate version of GREATEST KISS which was issued some months earlier. The only difference is the inclusion of some of their 1980's songs... but the print is full of type o's. This CD has been listed for years as an extreme rarity but I see it here, on eBay and record stores all the time. This is only for the die hard who has to have it all.

    You may love KISS or you may hate KISS... But one thing's for sure and that is you have owned KISS in one shape or form...

    this is a great album, definitly 1 to buy if your new to the masked rockers known as kiss. the album ranges from their early material right through their career - some bands tend to neglect certain eras when making a greatest hits. their are some classic tracks here aswell; god of thunder, strutter, deuce, rock and roll... and god gave rock and roll two you, to name but a few. if you want the best of a legendary band then i suggest that you invest in this album - you wont be disapointed. however some may find this album lacks in terms heaviness, their are also some ballad type songs - these tend to be the weak areas in this compilations, other than that its a perfect album and an air guitarists dream, enjoy.

    You wanted the best,you got it! This album contains so many klasiics by kiss I do not no where to start!I like the adding of the 80's hits,because Lick it up and Crazy Crazy nites ROCK.All the songs rock my soul.Ranging from disco-Sure know something,I was made for loving you,Heavyness-God of Thunder,Detreoit rock city,soft rock-Strutter,and ballads like Beth.Not to forget the cool-strangeness of calling dr. love ,and the klassicness of rock n' roll all nite.The cool plaster caster(that song is stuck in my mind)And the really cool Hotter than Hell!(im really glad that they included this GEM) If you are knew to kiss then think of them this way,ythey have some heavy stuff(a few very heavy stuff),Love Ballads( a whole bunch of these) and fun-not to heavy rock n' roll(most Kiss songs go into this category)Soft rock(common also) They have lots of anthems that make you want to shout.All the songs rock.Picking my top favs. from this album include-Hotter than hell,Crazy Crazy nites,lick it up,I was made for loving you,plaster caster,Hard luck woman,black Diamond,and God gave rock n' roll to you.You should Definetly purchase this album.(note to new fans:kiss is Klassic hard rock,not unlikabe stuff like todays metal.Kiss is not nearly llame noise like a lot of dumb modern music.Kiss is klassic-so kiss is essential for a klassic rock fan.

    I do not own this album,but judging from that fine lookin'tracklist that it contains,This is a VErY GOOD album and is a excellent album.It is better than the album ''Greatest kiss''for a variety of reasons,including that this album has BETTer songs including hits from the 80's.This album has cool cover art also. This contains most of kiss' Best hits(Kiss has too many hits,but these are the most importand)I think that this album shouldn't only be an imported album-I think that it should of been rleased in the U.S.A too.
