Customer Reviews:
I love this guy.......2007-03-21
Jason MRAZ is very soulfull and fun. Very talented. I love his music!!!!!
simply the best.......2006-12-21
This is by far my favorite Mraz album. I love all of them, but after being introduced to this, I was blown away. This is a must for any fan and if you're thinking about buying this, just buy it, you won't regret it! Mraz is such a talented performer, a wonderful vocalist/guitar player and he is by far one of the most kind, humble people you will ever meet.I've been lucky enough to see him in concert multiple times and every time was just amazing.
A must for fans of Mraz!.......2006-11-09
This guy's amazing to listen to on CD, and even better live--if you can imagine that! With a unique mix of attitude and charm, meaningful lyrics and captivating vocals, he gets you higher than his falsettos. If you're a fan of Jason, then you will definitely want this CD, as it contains tracks not found anywhere else. Reason enough to get this CD are the tracks "Not So Usual" and "Unfold". You'll want to listen to this one over and over.
I can't turn it off.......2006-09-04
I was already a fan of Mraz before this, but after I bought this i don't want to listen to anything else. This live show is incredible both audio and video. Java Joe's is good too with just him and Toca but listening to him with the full band is incredible. If you have a passing interest in Mraz, start with this. If you have a serious interest and you don't have this, do not hesitate and get it immediately.
Mr. AZ.......2006-08-22
Saw Mr. AZ for the first time, as an opener for the Stones and loved him. Might I add, I am 60 years old. Never too old to learn a new musician.

Customer Reviews:
what I wish this was...........2007-05-29
Many people have already commented on the improved sound quality of the remasters, the overdubs/post-production of the "live" work, and the, by cd standards, very short song selection (recall this was originally a double vinyl back in the day). Some of the live versions here are spectacular (e.g. this is my favorite version of the many Hotel California's available - check out the second guitar solo!).
WEA missed an opportunity with the re-release to do something special with this album, but maybe they can do it for an anniversary edition sometime soon. As many people know, the material from this album came from two tours. One in 1976 to support Hotel California with Randy Meisner still in the group, and the other to support The Long Run in 1980 with Timothy B. Schmidt. So they have the "source" tapes for additional songs from each tour.
What I wish for is the first disc to be comprised of 1976/77 tour setlist and the second disc to be a 1980 tour setlist. Since they no doubt played many songs on both tours, they could choose from the "definitive" versions of some of the hits, and then round out the rest of the discs with songs that were only played on one of the tours. That way we could get "Try and Love Again" and "Pretty Maids all in a Row" on the 1976/77 disc, and "King of Hollywood" and "Sad Cafe" on the second disc. I think Eagles fans would love to have something like this and it would be a mega-seller for the band/record company.
The Eagles Live Nothing Mindblowing But Good For What It Is.......2007-02-08
This two disc live album was mostly recorded on "The Long Run" tour, and if I remember correctly was actually released after the band had called it a day. There are also a few tracks that are from the "Hotel California" tour as well when Randy Meisner was still a band member. As a swan song it is a decent document of the band's career, although the vast majority of the album is taken from the previous two studio albums. The album is recorded well and the performances are flawless. The Eagles have always been able to re-create their studio sound in a live setting and don't usually stray too far from the original studio versions. In fact most of the solo's are played pretty much verbatim from the studio version. So what do you get here that you wouldn't get from owning "Greatest Hits", "Long Run" or "Hotel California"? Not really a lot. Surprisingly the album contains not one, but two of Joe Walsh's solo hits in rowdy versions of "Life's Been Good" and "All Night Long". There is also one new (at the time) song called "Seven Bridges Road" that really showcases the band's tight vocal harmonies. The only other non single album track is Henley's "Saturday Night" which is nothing spectacular. A bunch of the big hits make up the rest of the album, again played pretty much just like the studio versions. I like this album and think it is a nice look at the band as it was at the time, but I would not say it is essential for Eagles fans.
"Easily one of the best live records ever released".......2006-07-13
I'm not really much for "classic rock" because it's all been overplayed to death. But you don't hear these selections played on the radio as much as you do the studio versions of these songs. Further note, these live versions (even if there might be overdubs; who doesn't overdub if you want to put out something decent?) sound better than their studio counterparts at times. These guys are already multi-millionaires, but I must give credit where it is due.
Look at "Take it to the Limit" (way better than the studio version; more energetic singing by Randy Meisner and that Aaahhhhaaa!!! scream at the end of the tune... Incredible, and not on the studio version) and the addition of some of the solo stuff from Joe Walsh fits in really great, giving the album a rock n' roll party feel that a regular Eagles set would not have had. The ommission of the boring "Tequila Sunrise" and "Midnight Flyer" or whatever these other country and western tunes are, is just fine by me.
Further, look at the great interplay and encouragement conveyed among all members: Henley, Frey, Schmidt, Meisner and Walsh. Some of the best musicians you'll ever assemble in one place for not only playing their instruments, but also singing in harmony. It's like Blue Oyster Cult times two. I also think of my mother's personal favourite (even surpassing stuff by "Nana Mouskouri") "Saturday Night"... What a beautiful song that you won't find on any other compilation albums from the band.
Perhaps the only thing that would have made this more complete would have been adding "In the City" and "Victim of Love". Still, when I look back this CD, it stands out even more so than any of the Eagles studio recordings done over the years, be it this or that greatest hits. The remaster is superb, as well.
If you really analyze it, there may not be a better live recording out there in terms of setlist, sound quality and vibe. And many people must know that there have been some great live records released over the years: "Kiss: Alive", "UFO: Strangers in the Night", "Judas Priest: Unleashed in the East", "Molly Hatchet: Double Trouble Live". Now these are real rock n' roll live recordings full of high quality versions and energy! But I feel the Eagles Live may be the best of the best. If it weren't for "One of these Nights", "Victim of Love", "Those Shoes", "Love Will Keep Us Alive" and "Victim of Love" having been included on the "Very Best of the Eagles" I'd have gotten rid of it and just kept this CD because the other ones sound far better on here. Verdict: Five stars. Maybe even the best Live CD ever released.
The first live effort from The Eagles over 25 years later.......2006-01-17
The Eagles' seventh album Eagles Live was released in November of 1980.
By 1980, The Eagles were going through a schizophrenic time. The band had another chart-topping album out of The Long Run but inner tensions between drummer Don Henley and guitarist Glenn Frey reached fever pitch. The strains of keeping up with success were taking a toll on messieurs Henley, Frey, Don Felder, Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmit.
Before splitting up, the band decided to release a live album recorded from its 1979/80 Long Run Tour with some tracks recorded from the pre-release tour in support of Hotel California from November, 1976.
The 1980 portions consists of spirited versions of Hotel California which is arguably better than its studio counterpart with Don Felder's excellent Gibson double neck guitar and Joe Walsh's Fender Telecaster work, a rocking Heartache Tonight, a soulful I Can't Tell You Why, a soul-tinged The Long Run featuring some excellent alto sax work from Phil Kenzie(whom played on Al Stewart's Year of the Cat and Time Passages albums), a laid-back unplugged Saturday Night, a stellar Life in the Fast Lane and the closing extended rocking Take it Easy which is better than its studio counterpart with some excellent guitar work from Walsh at the end.
The 1980 portion also included the band's take on two of Walsh's solo tracks Life's Been Good(arguably better than the original) and the then new track All Night Long which buried the sterile sounding version on the Urban Cowboy Soundtrack. Lastly, it featured the acoustic Seven Bridges Road which was a country number the band would play in rehearsal(see the 1977 Hotel California concert film for proof) and would be the band's last hit for 14 years.
The songs recorded from 1976 featured New Kid In Town and Wasted Time which were at the time the performances were recorded unreleased, an unEarthly version of Take It To The Limit with original bass player Randy Meisner hitting an A flat to F Sharp near the end and given a STANDING OVATION for it. Lastly, Doolin-Dalton Reprise II was an orchestral interlude to Desperado which was a good version.
Eagles Live upon release hit #7 on the album charts and quickly hit Platinum status. Millions have been sold since then(I helped the cause when I was 8 when my folks got me this on cassette as a Christmas present and then on CD and now the remastered CD).
Recommended for real music fans unless you are a certain reviewer who gets a kick out of countering my reviews(I know who you are so don't counter)!
EAGLES play very well live, but there are problems with this album.......2005-10-14
First of all, they need to put this album on one disc, because it's under 80 minutes, and it's really a rip-off to pay that much for just 78 minutes. The first issues of the first two CHICAGO double albums were two disc sets, and they cut them down to one disc, so it can be done. Also, is this a Joe Walsh concert? Or an EAGLES album? I don't want to hear "Life's been good" (even though it's a cool song), or "All night long" on an EAGLES live album. Let him play that stuff at one of his solo concerts!!! When you have so many great tunes, why do you waste precious album time playing Joe's stuff. "Lifes been good" takes about 9 minutes of valuable space on this live album. They could have got two of their great songs done in that 9 minute period. Tons of their stuff was left off like "Witchy Woman", "In the City", "One of these nights", "Lyin Eyes", "James Dean", "Already gone", "After the thrill is gone", "Sad Cafe", "The last resort", and "Tequila Sunrise" to name a few. If they would have originally made it a 3-record set, instead of two, they could have got those tunes, plus a few more on this album, but hindsight is 20/20. Walsh is from my hometown Wichita, Kansas, so I shouldn't come down on him too hard for them playing his solo songs. When you get through my ton of gripes, they do play the songs that made it onto this album pretty darn good in my opinion. One great thing that came from this album was the great accopella (I'm not sure I'm spelling that right) tune "Seven Bridges Road", which was one of the few EAGLES songs that my Dad really got into. It had never appeared on any previous EAGLES albums before. I wish they would have left off the songs "Saturday night" and "Doolin-Dalton (Reprise II), because I've never really liked them that much. When I first purchased this album I hadn't ever bought "Hotel California" before, so "New kid in town" and "Wasted time" were real treats for me at that time. They play "Hotel California" very close to what it sounds like on the studio album, and really about all the rest of the tracks are the same as well. This could have been a much better "Live" album, but if you're going to only go by how good they play the material, this is played superbly and should get the full five stars, but I'll remove one because of the gripes that I had over the song selection and the other things that I mentioned.

Insprirations.......2004-08-09
I found this album to be truly uplifting. George Foreman has touched a chord and the use of the different performers, along with George's excellent voice, is outstanding. This album will make a difference for many who buy it. I consider it to be excellent!
Peaceful.......2004-06-06
This is a great cd in words, horrible in singing. This guy's like Paul McCartney. His painting a bunch of buckets of paint on a wall. This guy's music is a bunch of noise mixed into this thing that makes rap sound like gospel music. He stinks at boxing, cooking (just look at the guy), and everything else! This is a failiure of a sellout. If you think this is the chef of all time, get this cd.
