Party Rock!!.......2006-09-14
I would consider this more hard rock than I would punk. You could say it is hard rock with a punk pacing. The comparisons to MC5 and the Stooges are accurate. This is one of those bands that sound better live and it is hard to capture the energy in a studio. The addition of the live stuff is great. Another great 70's revival band. If you want your party to rock then put on this disc, it just seems to sound better when your partying with a bunch of friends.
If you are pretty, don't buy this disk.......2006-07-06
cuz it will rip your face off. Current 'Copters tunes are polished and hook laden. Sure this disk has the hooks (Hey!) but zero polish. It's not a BMW, it's a '67 GTO in primer. Dig?
There have been references to the Detroit sound a la MC5/Stooges and sure enough, it's in there. I'm a sucker for pick slides and a good old Dunlop Cry Baby wahs. Color me rocked.
Swedish Music is better than most American Music........2006-01-20
There, wrote it. There is a world to the east of the Atlantic Ocean. Funnily enough these guys probably weren't that big in India. I like it though.
Payin' the Dues.......2005-12-05
Payin' the Dues~ The Hellacopters is an alright album with decent lyrics, decent vocals and alright tracks. It just does not have anything special about it and sounds quite average and therefore it gets three stars out of 5. The book-let is a travesty and the photo looks silly with all the band members trying to look tough and it looks quite bad since they look out of shape and they would have looked better with their shirts on. I am not by any means saying that this is a bad album. It is a fine album to listen to, but it just does not do anything special for me and I give it 3 out of 5 and that is all that it deserves.
Sweet album! .......2004-07-23
Every song on here is great. Raw, gritty, dirty, loud, fast rock and roll. But done well. Most bands wish they could put out an album this solid. Gotta love the double guitar attack! The closest band I can equate them with is the Supersuckers. Mine came with a bonus live CD with most of the same tracks as the studio album with a few different ones. The live CD is killer as well. I saw these guys open for the Supersuckers and they got the goods!

Masterpiece of Blues Rock.......2004-12-07
John Lawton is a VERY under rated talent in the Rock World. Most known for his work with Lucifer's Friend and Uriah Heep as the Lead Singer in both groups, John is also a Bandleader and lead songwriter; he also plays a mean acoustic/rhythm Guitar. This project came after his last stint in Lucifer's Friend on the CD Sumogrip and a project of his own called Gunhill. Gunhill was a band that featured a more Whitesnake oriented sound with songs that were covertunes and orginals penned by John and members of Gunhill. I have Night Heat which I consider to be an absolutely essential release for anyone who likes rock with a melodic edge sung by a singer with an ear for melody. Still Paying My dues was put out in 2000 by John and it features material that has a more "bluesy" flavor with a hint of Free/Bad Company. There are 12 very well written tunes on offer here with John having written or co-written most of them. The whole CD is excellent, but personal favorites include the title track, Tomorrow, Soldiers of fortune, Fool's game, and the best track on the CD Tonight. I cannot recommend the CD highly enough, it is that good. Great for a romp in your favorite sports car or even when you want to ease it back a bit by a cozy fire. John Lawton is a very talented but under appreciated musician, buy this disc and you can see for yourself how great he is! Hard to find, but well worth the search!!!
It Isn't for Heep Fans.......2002-01-31
The cd is a good trip in a blues world, but for me is not a good music for the vocal of Jonh Lawton, if you are a fan of UH understend what I mean.
John Has Paid His Dues.......2000-09-13
Still Payin' My Dues To The Blues is possibly John Lawton's finest musical work. I personally think it is a blues masterpiece. After many listens, it is still just as fresh as the first listen. I have listened to it 5 times in a row on road trips with my wife in the car. She loves it too. If you like Kenny Wayne Shepherd, you'll love this album. I highly recommend it. Of course, it is a must for all Uriah Heep fans.

Excellent bluesy rock album by ex- Uriah Heep vocalist...........2000-08-26
This excellent bluesy rock album features rock, blues style and ballads, with power vocals, by the ex-Uriah Heep and Lucifer's Friend vocalist John Lawton... one of Lawton's best recordings...

Customer Reviews:
Open the window and let me breathe.......2004-09-01
This is, more or less, the "complete" Bang Records recordings by Van Morrison. Disc one features all his studio masters, plus the demo of "The Smile You Smile" and an alternate take of "Brown Eyed Girl". Disc two features 31(!) very brief non-songs where Van wastes studio time goofing around. On these tracks, Van is alone with his acoustic guitar, and he ususally just repeats a line or two over and over for about a minute. This is amusing for a "song" or two, but it gets pretty tedious after a while. But the main attraction here is the first disc. Van himself reportedly didn't care much for these recording sessions, feeling that they were overproduced. He may be right in some cases, but "Brown Eyed Girl" is an undeniable classic. The rest of the material is hit and miss. This is an interesting look at the beginning of a legendary career.
Great OOP first LP plus Legendary out-takes.......2004-01-17
That previous reviewer doesn't know what. The first disc is a reissue of Van's long OOP first LP 'Blowin Your Mind' that came out on Bert Berns' BANG label (plus bonus tracks), not a collection of otherwise available recordings, and shows the transition from Garage rock to trans-genred singer-songwriter. The second is the first legal release of the legendary session made to break his contract with Berns and wrest control of his career. It's one of the funniest recordings ever and in some ways Van's best album. It's certainly better than anything he's done since the early 70's. "I can see by the look on your face... that you've got Ringworm."
First cd's an ok compilation, second's a joke.......2003-02-09
The first cd's another van morrison compilation, good songs you probably already have. The second cd i'm pretty sure was meant as a joke or just messing around in the studio. The like 6th song is even "if you made it this far it's freaky"
Try another compilation or a remaster :)

Product Description
Tim's intuitive style bridges the gap between classic and modern rock, while reminding the world what true music is really made of. The amazing guitarist / singer / songwriter of over forty years releases "Still Payin' The Dues", his first album in which he took on the sink or swim task of lead singing wherein once again his talent blazes through speakers everywhere hotter than the lava fields of Hawaii. In May 2005 Tim recieved an HMA for this album. Most of us are convinced this isn't the last award tim will get for this record. If you don't have it get it now! its inexpensive, and well worth your money!

Rock is still alive!.......1998-08-31
This is what rock should be.Loud guitars, kicking drums and screaming vocals.Everything might sound dirty but that's the way it should be.When I first heard the record it was the first song You Are Nothing...I was sold completely. It was like something I have never heard. The record has no bad songs. It's just pure rock from star to the end. If you like the old school punk combined with a tougherd attitude,Hellacopters is for you!!!!!
