If you want to buy a Siegal Schwall CD buy this one.......2003-01-02
I haven't heard any other albums by them, but this one is smoking. You get 7 minutes of blues healing with upbeat harp and guitar jams in "I Don't Want You To Be My Girl," and another 7 minutes in "Hush, Hush," hee hee hee. Not that "Leavin'" should be overlooked because it is only 3 minutes long - that song smokes too. Yep, this is a good CD to help forget some woman. The CD ends with the best version of "Got My Mojo Working" that I have ever heard.
Great album from a great band!.......1999-06-19
A great live album by a fun and talented band, luckily brought back together and recorded. Jim Schwall and Corky Seigel front a talented and honest band that puts out down home music the way it's supposed to be played.

"in the Country Rock Hall of Fame".......2006-08-22
The Ozark Mountain Daredevils belong in the Rock'N Roll Hall of Fame. They have never recorded one bad song. They are "the Beatles of the woods."
This new live recording is great from the first note to the last. It was done on New years Eve 1980. The songs sound close to the originals, but more lively, as you would expect. Steve Cash's harmonica resonates very well on Black Sky and several others. The vocals are fine, sometimes alittle over the top. There are a few musical instrument noises that are off the wall, but generally the sound is excellent. My only complaint is the lack of fiddle playing by John Dillon. Mike Granada's voice adds the usual comic relief. The original line up of musicians rounds out the band.
This live cd proves the Ozark's should not be forgotten in the American roots-rock music scene. They are one country rock band that should tour again.
Keep On Churnin'.......2006-08-21
This is a great recording of OMD live. In the meantime I'll just have to wait for the DVD version and the new studio album that I hope is in the works.

Absolutely Gorgeous.......2006-07-29
This album has to be one of the most spectacular examples of musicianship I can think of. I fell in love with this recording when a friend showed it to me. The phrasing is remarkably tender and elegant. Bill Frisell and Dale Bruning just play the right thing all the time. If any of you have a list of "must haves" for your music libraries, please include this album.

"Have You Heard" this on CD? Well worth it........2007-06-22
As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various recordings from the 60's and 70's.
Can you believe it's been 25 years since the Bluesbreakers 1982 Reunion Concert featuring- John Mayall- Vocals, guitar, harmonica, piano, and organ along with former Rolling Stones guitarist and virtuoso Mick Taylor (Guitar), Colin Allen on drums (Stone The Crows and Focus), and John McVie (Fleetwood Mac).
The approach the band took has been debated well on both sides. Should they play a healthy dose of the quality tunes from Mayall's catalog over the years, or do they pay a good deal of homage to the blues legends of the past?
As it turned out, they went with the songs from Mayall's vast repertoire. Excluding one cover "My Time After Awhile" the other nine tracks on the CD are penned from Mayall. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as the compositions allow Mayall to sing the blues and allow room for Mick Taylor to show why his solos and fill-ins are legendary the audience will go away satisfied.
McVie and Allen provide a terrific combination and because their egos are in check you can concentrate on Taylor's proficiency. It isn't only the skill with the guitar that allows Taylor to shine. It's the entire package from the sound of the instrument to the amps matching the style of music emanating from the stage.
There were many that weren't impressed with the recording. While it is impossible to turn the clock back to the original days of the Bluesbreakers when they once had a young Mr. Clapton and then an even younger Mr. Taylor, an impartial listening to the CD will sell you on the timeless music Mayall created and why each generation must here a representation.
The fidelity is very good throughout the release excluding the final song "Have You Heard" when it sounds as if the master recording was an audience tape. That is only a minor blip on a very large screen!
Enjoy the music and be well,
Craig Fenton

5 stars for the music, minus one for poor quality control.......2007-07-12
The music on this reunion cd(yes I believe it is a legit reunion performance) is excellant. Roky is at top form playing these songs from his solo career with his former bandmates. It would have been better(and made more sense this is a reunion concert and not a solo performance) for the band to have played more songs from the Elevators repetoire. My only complaint is that the cd has Clear Night For Love play twice and fails to seperate the final two songs into two tracks but lists them as seperate tracks on the back. aside from this quality control error and the lack of Elevators material this cd is most excellant. It should probably be bought by someone who is just as familiar with Roky's solo material as with the 13th Floor Elevators if it is to be properly appreciated.
Thirteenth Floor Elevators - 'Reunion Concert' (TKO/Magnum).......2006-02-19
First question that might enter your mind when you hear about this CD,is rather if it's a 'real' live concert recording, with the Elevators being known for putting out 'faked live' releases. This eight track archive performance seems(to me)to be authentic.Noted as taken place on August 11,1984.Question I have,is that is this REALLY a 13th Floor Elevators reunion,or possibly a Roky Erickson solo gig?Either way,it's an okay disc.Better tunes are "Splash 1",the foot-stomping ten-minute "Don't Slander Me","Bloody Hammer" and "Two Headed Dog".Should have included at least one more early TFE song.

Customer Reviews:
Highlights.......2004-02-02
This was recorded at the Everly Brothers reunion concert at Albert Hall on September 23, 1983. It was a really great show, with the boys singing almost all of their old hits, in great two part harmony. Seriously, this is an awesome concert, and all Everly Brothers fans should enjoy it.
Harmonium.......2003-11-05
The essence of perfect harmony has been distilled onto these two discs, capturing the live reunion in September of 1983 at London's Royal Albert Hall. Although it's a bit of a puzzle as to which concert actually got recorded (likely both), it really doesn't matter, because this is as good as it gets.
The single CD version omits far too many of the superb medleys, and in any event, why would you omit any of this concert? The brothers are singing better than ever, they're backed by a crack band of seasoned pros, and the recording is ALMOST flawless.
If there's any complaint, it's that the recording level is lower than it should be, but that's a minor problem at best.
All the hits are here, and in a lot of ways, they're performed better than the originals. Absolutely essential.
Don't mess with a winning formula.......2001-08-26
On holiday in the Spanish island of Ibiza a few years ago, I would walk down a quiet street every morning on the way to the local shop to buy a newspaper. I passed by a small tavern, which at 10.00am wasn't open for business but was being prepared for the day ahead. I remember the same music being played from within the tavern, reaching the street and filling the air with wonderful songs and harmonies. It was the Everly Brothers' greatest hits. The original recordings of classics such as All I Have To Do Is Dream, Walk Right Back and Bye Bye Love remain the best examples of male harmonising in popular music (with the Beach Boys a close second). The Everlys enjoyed years of tremendous success and are an acknowledged influence on artists that followed them such as Simon and Garfunkel. By 1973, the brothers - never the closest of friends - had become so distanced from each other that an on-stage disagreement, following years of arguing, saw the duo divide and pursue solo careers. Ten years later, they reunited and performed a much-anticipated reunion concert in London. Naturally, this was recorded and has been released on several record labels in the subsequent years. Was it worth the wait? The answer is yes, but with some reservations. The harmonies are as glorious as ever, remembering that in some cases, the now middle-aged brothers are attempting to duplicate their teenage voices from 25 years before. Where the CD is less impressive is when certain songs (Till I Kissed You, Love Hurts and others) require verses sung solo. There are attempts at noticably different phrasings from the original recordings during these segments. It doesn't work: in an effort to be different, inadvisedly high notes are attempted, and the feel is that there is a high degree of improvising, none too successfully. Back to these songs' choruses, they sound completely in tune and as good as ever. In pop music terms, this album amounts to Da Vinci repainting the Mona Lisa. I don't regret buying this album but I know that, like the Spanish bar owner, I prefer the original versions.
They sound as good on-stage as in the studio.......2000-06-15
The Everly's harmonies have always stood out, but never more so than live on stage. Add to their enormous talent the overwhelming emotion of a reunion, after years of not speaking to each other, and the result is electric.
After so many years of recording and touring together, it's no wonder that they're able to pick up vitually where they off. This is the sound of polished performers who'd honed their act for years. It might be a bit slick, but in a way that only such hugely talented performers can ever accomplish.
In the end, it's great to hear so many classic hits reanimated through the magic of live performance, and it's great to hear Phil and Don singing together again.
Fabulous harmony, superb!.......2000-04-08
Back in the early days, listening to the radio, it wasn't ever clear how absolutely beautiful these two brothers sound! No two brothers can harmonize as smooth, soft and mellow as the voices of the FABULOUS EVERLY BROTHERS! Excellent cd, I want the video of this performance. Another excellent cd is "songs our father taught us.
