Buy something else.......2000-02-14
This CD consists of 2 songs by Showaddywaddy and 2 by Shocking Blue. The Showaddywaddy songs are workman-like, mediocre 50's-style male vocals. The first Shocking Blue song is the famous "Venus". The second, a so-called remix of "Venus", consists of "Venus" played through one-and-a-half times, overlaid by cutesy rap-type noises that someone in the 2 to 3 year-old range could find amusing. There are many Shocking Blue CDs available with much more Shocking Blue material on them, some of which cost less than this hideous thing.

Hey Rock N Roll!.......2000-10-26
Showaddywaddy burst on to the UK music scene in 1974 with their massive #2 hit 'Hey Rock N Roll', they followedit with 'Rock N Roll Lady', both included on this their debut album and in my opinion their best. It contains a mixture of originals and 50's/early 60s covers. Excellantly put together and the one to purchase after the Hits Collection.

Customer Reviews:
Continuing with the British rock n' roll revival.................2002-03-24
Showaddywaddy were at the forefront of the British rock n' roll revival back in the latter part of the 1970s, and are still doing their thing around the UK and Europe today. Trouble is, they haven't changed any and their music and style remains somewhat dated. Unlike most other bands of their kind, Showaddywaddy resisted the temptation of recording their own material. Sure, some of their own songs appeared on their albums, but the ones they entered the charts with and heavily promoted during their shows were all cover versions of some popular and not so well known rock n' roll tracks. This CD - one of many 'best of' compilations by the group - focuses on their main chart-toppers from the time this music was considered 'hip'. Sadly, this is no longer the case but the listener is treated to a few hidden gems. Among the best ones on this CD are: "Under The Moon Of Love", "Dancin' Party", "I Wonder Why", "A Little Bit Of Soap" and "Pretty Little Angel Eyes".
As previously mentioned, the group are still touring today (2002) around the UK and they are still relatively popular in Europe. The glory days are long gone now, but this is a good reminder of how things used to be - even if this CD sounds *very* dated now.
Jon.
25 steps to 25 years and more.........1999-12-02
Wonderful! Everything in the previous review applies - with the added bonus of knowing that they are still touring in the UK (as of 1999) - though not the original line-up - and still as good as they ever were!
Truly the Worlds Greatest Rock n Roll Band !.......1999-08-19
A great piece of nostalgia from the worlds best rock and roll band. They beat the pants off groups like Sha Na Na. Great for parties, great for romantic nights, lively, catchy - what more could you ask for ! If only we could really go back to the 70s to see them live again !
Great Music.......1999-07-13
I dont know why the last reviewer gave such nasty comments. I think Showaddywaddy is GREAT. You must listen to them to form an opinion. This CD is worth the money.
Crapola Records.......1999-04-12
this lot are as bad now as they were then..complete and utter garbage

Album Details
As Fans of the Band Had Come to Expect by Now, the Songs were a Classy Mixture of Original Compositions and Covers, with Sam Cooke's "Shake" Being One of the Finest Performances on Record by the Band, Closely Followed by the Raw and Energetic Title Track and "Weekend". Their Own Songs were Up to their Usual High Standard Too: "Gypsy Rose-lee", "You Always Stand Me Up" and "Pretty Little One" Proudly Stood Alongside the Classics and Made the Band Sound Fresher Than a Group in their Eighth Year Could Realistically Be Expected To. Many Fans also Rated the String-laden Ballad "i Don't Like Rock and Roll No More" as One of the Stronger Album Tracks Released by Showaddywaddy. Also Included on this Re-issue Are the B-sides of the "Multiplication" (Released Fifth June 1981) and "Footsteps" (Released Sixth November 1981) Singles: "i Wish that I Could Undo all the Bad that I have Done" and "Tribute".
