    3 out of 5 stars No Paranoid!.......2006-05-29

How can any Grand Funk album without Paranoid claim to be a "Best Of"? This gets 3 stars only because it's Grand Funk, but spend your money more wisely and get 30 Years of Funk and be 100% certain you got the "Best Of"!

2 out of 5 stars NOT the best ever, just another "best of...".......2006-04-01

I'll get right to the point. This is EXACTLY the same track listings as "Grand Funk's Greatest Hits" only the tracks are in a different running order. It also has all the same songs as are included in "The Capitol Collector's Series". So if this a third generation re-hash (fourth if you count the now out of print "Grand Funk Hits"), then how can this possibly be "The Greatest Grand Funk Album Ever"? If you "like" Grand Funk, then there is certainly nothing wrong with this set. That is unless you already own one of the previous CD's that I have mentioned here. Then you might get this in the mail and feel a little ripped-off. But if you are a true fan, check out "Trunk Of Funk". That might be more to your liking than this imported re-hash.

5 out of 5 stars Greatest Ever - Like the Title Says.......2006-03-14

I have been to a couple of concerts by GFR many moons ago. They were and probably still are the ultimate power trio of rock. This is another album that is consumer friendly on the basis of folks on a limited budget. You can have ALL prime cuts for one small price and if you know GFR music this is a winning situation for the fan. You may have certain favorite cuts off other albums, but if you just want the best of the best, It's a defenite buy. GFR fan's - divvie up and git it !!

4 out of 5 stars "Casual" 'Best Of' Collection.......2002-02-07

"The Best Of Grand Funk (Railroad)" contains ten original hits from the hard rock outfit from Flint, Michigan. All of the group's hits featured in this collection cover the band's most productive period between 1969 and 1975. The first half of the disc has songs from Grand Funk's "heavy metal" period, such as the charming "Time Machine", the bluesy "Mean Mistreater" and the upbeat remake of Traffic's "Feelin' Alright". There's even the butchered single edit version of "Closer To Home", which is regarded as one of their best songs by many (the full-length album version, that is). The second half of this disc features tracks from Grand Funk's commercial period, including their raucous rock anthem "We're An American Band" and the infectious "Bad Time", among others. Although this CD contains a sampling of some of GFR's better known classics, it is most likely not recommended for the die-hard Funk fan. Completists of this group will find "Collector's Series" or even the double-CD "Thirty Years Of Funk" more to their liking, since these two anthologies contain more songs. On a slightly smaller scale, "The Best Of Grand Funk" is highly recommended for more casual fans of this legendary band's music. This is only available as an import title, so it would be wise to pick up a copy soon...

    4 out of 5 stars over priced.......2002-02-05

Nice selection of songs from America's greaest band, but its just another hits cd. This is only for the fanatic's like me.

1 out of 5 stars totally pointless & thoughtlessly assembled collection.......2001-12-26

There's no reason for even a casual GFR collector
to buy this piece of crap. The cover photo is
    inexplicable...In this dark, dingey shot,
the band is walking off stage away from
the camera and is unrecognizable. What's up
    with that ???
Further, these songs have been released with superior
mastering before. For almost the same price, you can
own the fabulous "Thirty Years Of Funk" 3-CD set !!
    Last, "Sin's A Good Man's Brother " is in it's single
edit version. What the hell is the point of this ???

GFR had unparalled popularity in the early 70's. Capitol
has treated them like dirt, just as critics did. This sort
of B.S. rip off is a disgrace. If you're only a casual GFR
fan ( you're an idiot, but I'll indulge you anyway...)
get the Capitol collectors set and wait for the promised
    catalog revamp in 2002.

But this woeful assemblage of tracks is miserably packaged
and an utter waste of money

4 out of 5 stars For Collecters Only.......2000-11-22

Are You Ready...For more funk? If you grew up on the funk like me, and your a GFR fanatic. You'll probably want to pick up this very pricy best of collection. Most of the early hits are here (18 selections in all), the sound is exceptable, doesn't sound remastered. There have been a number of GFR compilations already released. So this is only for the die-heart Funkettes. I would have appreciated some bonus trax for this high import price. Let the funk continue.
